It was as if the sky was lit on fire, the horizon and earth for as far as the eye could see, took on a crimson hue. Tiny fla particles floating in the sky frantically coalesced towards the palm of the old man.

The next second, when the old man was done weaving signs, his left arm turned crimson. Liquid flas dripped down from it, and his hand actually looked like it was made from lava.

What’s more, if one looked carefully, they would also be able to see a seal of a pagoda on the palm of the old man.

"Heh, textbook tricks. Do you think this grandpa fox will fall for that?"...

"Hehe, you know a lot. I don’t know which demonic beast clan you co from. However, you shouldn’t interfere in the matter of my Yan clan. It’s alright if you want to dodge. However, can the ones behind you do the sa?"

The old man didn’t give any ti to react and without warning, rushed towards Yang Chen and Tang Xun’er at a speed that was difficult to follow with eyes.

"You!!"

Yun hurriedly chased back, fuming. He never thought that the old man would be shaless enough to go for the weak younger generation mbers in front of him. He gave chase, his speed was faster than the old man, greatly surprising the latter.

"Don’t think that you can do anything to them in the presence of Grandpa Fox" Yun increased his speed even further, appearing beside the old man. He was just about to retaliate when he froze for a split second, his aura wavering wildly.

"Looks like I was right, you are hanging onto your life using so kind of treasure as ans"

BANG... the latter laughed, swiftly turned around and slamd his palm on the demonic spirit. Imdiately, a pagoda made of intense flas appeared and trapped the demonic spirit inside.

"Kugh... Oh no!!" Yun cursed, attacking the fla pagoda. However, his attacks had minimal effects on the pagoda.

"Stay inside for a while. I will make this quick" Saying so, he rushed towards the two.

Yang Chen and Tang Xun’er who were both intensely observing the brief fight, were quite shocked when they saw Yun getting caught inside a trap. The latter tried attacking the seal nurous tis. However, it didn’t seem like he would be able to destroy it anyti soon.

"Who is this old man? He seems to be more powerful than when he was in the ancient domain" Although it was just for a split second, he definitely saw the entire surrounding being lit up with crimson fire.

Yang Chen who was deliberating how to get out of this predicant, saw Tang Xun’er move from the corner of his eyes.

"Yang Chen... sorry"

It was a short few words of parting. However, he didn’t bla her. With her gone, he would be more relieved and could give it all into running without holding anything back.

Yet to his utter surprise, the girl didn’t run away as he thought. Instead, she rushed straight towards the old man in an attempt to fight and stop him.

"Wait... what are you...?" Yang Chen’s voice trailed behind as Tang Xun’er was already in front of the enemy.

"Your little pet has been stopped by . I don’t think you have anything that can stop . Don’t waste my ti and get out of my way lass" the old man spoke with a heavy and thick killing intent.

Neverhtless, even while faced with a killing intent so vast, she did not retreat and continued to shield the person behind her.

This of course, irritated the old man even more.

"So be it" He reached out and slamd his palm onto her body, not withholding anything. Monts before the palm hit her, she accidentally saw the face of the old man.

"You are!!" At that instant, she realised who their opponent was. However, it was too late.

BANG... the palm connected and the power behind the attack caused the very space to tremble. Blood spurted and a figure was blown back, falling and rotating in the air like a lifeless doll.

The scene was very heartwreching and sad.

Watching the entire scene unfold, Yang Chen opened his eyes so wide that it looked like his eyeballs would pop out. Without thinking, he rushed forward and caught that delicate figure covered in blood before she could hit the ground.

The previous devastatingly beautiful and lively as a fairy figure of Tang Xun’er couldn’t be seen. Intead a pale looking girl with blood trickling down her forehead ca into view. Like a wilting flower, she gave one a lancholic and sad feeling.

"You... Why?!!"

He asked; no, growled angrily. Why would she shield him to the point of risking her own life? Why would she not run away?

Emotions too foreign and distant for him to rember, surfaced in his heart once again. Emotions that he had buried in fear of being taken advantage of once again.

Unbeknownst to him, the existence of Tang Xun’er had unearthed the person that the original Yang Chen was before his parents died, sothing that even he was unaware of.

Now seeing her injured and on death’s door because of him, he was starting to realise what feeling pain was.

"Hehe, so you can also make a face like that, huh? I thought you were a boorish and insensitive man who always kept his emotions under control".

"Why?" He questioned, unable to understand anything.

"I-I don’t want you to die... because you are the first friend I made" Tang Xun’er slowly spoke those words with her remaining energy.

Huff.. Huff.. Yang Chen felt as if his heart was being squeezed right now. The girl who he got close to with ulterior motives in mind, had never seen him in such a way. On the contrary, she was always forthcoming and friendly towards him, to the point of being too naïve.
