As impressive as it sounded, the reality was not as so. The [Sacrificial Gambit] was a skill that harms the user in return for dealing damage to the target.

Since the skill works by sacrificing the vitality of the user, it leaves them in a montary vulnerability. Because of this, the skill cannot be used in the heat of the battle or as a final move.
The [Sacrifical Gambit] even while being a Heaven Grade battle skill was like a dual edge blade that did more harm to the user than to the enemy. As such, no sane practitioner would learn this skill.
So why was Yang Chen using this skill? One look at his quickly healing left hand was enough to explain it. The Undying ability of the Extre Evil Nihility body that granted Yang Chen almost logic defying level of regeneration.
Thanks to that ability, Yang Chen did not have to worry about the self harming risk of the skill.
Of course, there were also other factors for why he decided to use the skill, like its vast range. One of the advantages of [Sacrificial Gambit] is its ability to reach targets within a vast range. Zhang Fei was far away for Yang Chen to reach him with any other skills.
However, with [Sacrificial Gambit] it was not the case. As long as his enemies were within his eyesight he could always use it. Then there was also the surprise factor that could be seen from Zhang Fei’s face.

Amon broke into an enraged outburst. Seeing him beco all flustered and annoyed like that, Yang Chen grinned. He felt like he finally scored one against this demon who never missed any opportunity to pass snide remarks at him.

"You Brat, you dare to slight .." Amon didn’t have the opportunity to be enraged because of what Yang Chen said next.
"Anyways, I understand what you are saying, but a skill is a skill in the end. It becos strong or weak depending on the way it is utilised".
For Yang Chen who had been a gar for a good part of his short life, he could imagine various ways to use it. For example, using the [Sacrificial Gmabit] when the target was preoccupied by a perilous situation.
