Chapter 297: The Cottage in the Mist

Along the way, Li Dawei kept chatting about the changes in the village before and after the apocalypse, while Zhang Mu quietly listened, occasionally agreeing.

He had a feeling that once he t the plant specialist Era Sub-rchant, all his doubts would be clarified.

The journey wasn’t long, after passing through a stretch of uneven small pits, Zhang Mu was jolted back to attention by Li Dawei’s reminder.

They must have arrived, as the dicinal scent in the air intensified, lifting their spirits.

However, as they got closer to the mountain, the fog thickened, making it hard to see clearly.

“Sir, the cabin is about 800 ters ahead, that’s where our families grow dicinal herbs in the dicinal garden.

These herbs are collected by the herbalist from the mountains and then transplanted into the soil similar to the mountains. We pay him money to take care of them. Originally, each family was given two herbs for ergencies in case of serious illness.”

After saying this, Li Dawei shook his head sadly and said, “Now we can’t even eat our fill, keeping the herbs is pointless. Later, when the herbalist disappeared, the new owner suggested selling most of the dicinal garden to him.”

The chilling wind around them occasionally picked up, causing the fla of the lantern in his hand to flicker. Zhang Mu thought Li Dawei’s voice sounded hollow and resentful for no particular reason.

However, he didn’t mind. Even if they were ghosts, he had encountered them in his past life, only to be caught by humans and then sent to the wealthy and sheltered elite who sought excitent from afar without daring to step outside the city.

The unknown, despite its uncertainties, deeply piqued Zhang Mu’s interest.

Li Dawei raised the lantern in his hand, barely illuminating Zhang Mu’s view.

Not far away, amidst the thick fog, there was indeed a cabin surrounded by neatly arranged greenhouses. However, many of the greenhouses had holes in their roofs, allowing so of the herbs to grow out, showing signs of mutation.

Zhang Mu gestured for Li Dawei to keep going ahead, while he followed closely behind.

For so reason, the 800-ter distance felt long to Zhang Mu. The scent of dicinal herbs in the air had beco so strong that it made him feel drowsy. It was Li Dawei’s sudden voice that woke Zhang Mu up.

“Sir, there is another adult who wishes to see you. They want to discuss the distribution of dicinal herbs. What do you think?”

Zhang Mu bit his tongue and a sudden wave of pain surged, bringing so clarity back to his mind.

Was it a ntal attack?

No, that’s impossible. He had just activated his ntal shield earlier. In theory, a ntal attack below the second rank should not be able to silently affect him.

Could it be the scent of herbs in the air?

With only this mysterious possibility in mind, Zhang Mu frowned and spoke loudly to the people in the small hut,

“Friends inside, there is no need for mystery. We are all Era Sub-rchants. Co out and et Mr. Zhang.”

Without Zhang Mu noticing, Li Dawei disappeared when Zhang Mu’s attention shifted to the shack, vanishing into the mist without a sound.

Completely unaware, the lantern that was just in Li Dawei’s hand is now placed on the fence in front of the shack, with its flickering flas.

At that mont, the door of the shack in the mist creaked open, but no one erged from inside.

Zhang Mu now felt less interested, thinking that soone who plays mysterious tricks must be unsure of themselves and unable to confront Zhang Mu directly.

With a grin, Zhang Mu slowly opened the fence and walked in, saying, “What’s up, friend? No ti for a chat? We can help each other out and discuss sharing the herbs.”

Suddenly, a figure appeared behind Zhang Mu, but he was prepared and swiftly threw the Obsidian dagger as the air shimred.

The figure was instantly shattered into pieces as the dagger struck, scattering into dust.

Although Zhang Mu was not very strong, the Obsidian dagger was firmly stuck in the wooden post of the fence without piercing through.

He walked over, pulled out the Obsidian dagger with a forceful tug, then squatted down to look at the powder on the ground.

Squeezing it, he sniffed gently in front of his nose.

Is it pollen?

When Zhang Mu got up and looked back, he suddenly found that the small house in the fog just now was gone, replaced by hundreds of plants intertwined with each other, unable to tell what is what.

On the branches of this huge creature, nine bodies swayed in the wind, swaying from side to side, occasionally bumping into the bodies around them.

As the fog slowly cleared, Zhang Mu saw the pupils of the bodies and froze in shock.

All the people hanging there had a broken black ring on their ring fingers!
