"So, are you two really here to take wedding photos?"
The staff at the civil affairs bureau cautiously asked.
Because this marriage was just a collaboration, Christopher ensured all staff maintained confidentiality.
Yvette anxiously sat aside, gripping her clothes tightly.
Ethan, however, leaned closer to Yvette.
"Miss, give us a smile," the staff teased Yvette with a smile, as if she was heading for a trial.
Yvette looked at Ethan nervously, forcing a rigid smile.
The staff sighed helplessly, clearly not very satisfied.
"Caden said Sumrs used to run around the streets naked as a child and only learned to wear pants after getting stung on the bottom by a bee," Ethan said, turning to Yvette. "Really?"
Yvette felt a tightness in her chest when looking at Ethan’s eyes, which seed full of affection.
Ironically, Ethan wasn’t soone who smiles often, yet he was trying to make her laugh.
Recalling Sumrs crying naked, Yvette couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Caden had told her during his prison visit.
Back then, everything about Sumrs was her light in prison.
The photographer seized the opportunity to call out, capturing Yvette’s attention and pressed the shutter.
Yvette, realizing afterward, felt her ears turn hot and red.
The marriage certificate was stamped and released, making Yvette feel like she was dreaming.
This was Ethan Grant.
She never dared dream of crossing paths with Ethan Grant.
Let alone getting married.
"For safety reasons, it’s better if the marriage certificate stays with ," Christopher offered to take the certificate.
Afraid Yvette might flaunt it around.
Ethan furrowed his brows, snatching the certificate from Christopher and handed it to Yvette. "Keep it safe."
"..." Christopher looked innocent.
Yvette hesitated, nervously looking at Ethan.
Keeping the certificate with her... wouldn’t he fear she’d use it to create a scandal?
"Since it’s a partnership, trust is of utmost importance," Ethan spoke casually.
Yvette looked at Ethan for a long ti before lowering her head, saying nothing.
Christopher drove Yvette to Ethan’s residence.
"Since it’s a partnership, please take care going forward," Ethan said, as he exited the car and opened the door for Yvette.
Yvette looked at Ethan in disarray. "Will... will we be living together?"
"The marriage certificate is for the notary’s eyes. If we don’t live together, the will’s notary won’t believe us." Ethan wasn’t about to hide things from Yvette.
Yvette actually liked Ethan’s straightforward nature, at least there were no sches or deception, everything was transparent.
"Understood, Mr. Grant," Yvette lowered her head.
"Tomorrow you start at the company, outside you can call Mr. Grant, but not at ho," Ethan led Yvette to the door to input facial recognition and entered fingerprints at the entrance.
"This card can be used freely; it’s your living expenses for the next three years, salary separate," Ethan handed Yvette a card.
Yvette took a deep breath. "No... need for money."
"Since it’s a collaboration, and you’re helping acquire shares, it’s rightfully yours. If I randomly found a celebrity to collaborate, it would cost at least ten tis this," Ethan felt he had gotten a good deal.
Yvette was shocked, her mouth agape, realizing collaborating with a star would indeed cost a lot.
Obediently accepting the card, Yvette thought as long as she didn’t spend lavishly, she could help Ethan save money.
"As my future life assistant, there’s still much for you to learn; training and other requirents can be discussed with Christopher," Ethan glanced at Christopher.
Christopher quickly nodded.
"There’s daily cleaning service at ho, pick a room you like, don’t bring anything in, let Christopher take you shopping for new items," Ethan was quite strict with cleanliness, but he was respectful enough to Yvette.
Yvette nodded in agreent.
"By the way, Mr. Grant’s study is a forbidden zone; you can’t go in," Christopher added.
Ethan glanced at Christopher, speaking impassively. "There’s no forbidden zone at ho, feel free, but I’m not fond of being disturbed while working."
Yvette quickly nodded.
"..." Christopher silently grumbled; isn’t this hypocritical? When he cos to the house, the study is off-limits!
"Every morning at 7:30, a chef cos to prepare breakfast, let the housekeeper know ahead what you wish to eat," Ethan looked Yvette up and down. "Take care of your health; being my life assistant will be exhausting."
Yvette nodded continuously, palms sweaty.
"If you need anything, let know ahead of ti." Ethan checked the ti; there wasn’t much else to say, his phone kept ringing—Arthur was calling.
"You rest well at ho; start work next Monday." Ethan looked at Yvette, turned, answered the call, and left.
Yvette nervously followed behind him, watching Ethan leave.
When he drove away, she cautiously breathed a sigh of relief.
His presence was so overwhelming, it felt suffocating.
Turning to carefully observe Ethan’s villa, slowly unclenching her tightly gripped fingers.
Would she be living here with Ethan for a long ti?
Christopher ntioned Ethan’s schedule was irregular, he might not co ho every day.
But as Ethan’s life assistant, she’d certainly have to be with him around the clock.
Ethan’s ho was impeccably clean, devoid of even a speck of dust, making Yvette feel as if her presence and breath would taint the air.
Uneasily seated on the sofa, Yvette sat quietly.
Ethan seed to have sothing urgent.
Although he said she could pick any room, Yvette felt she should wait for Ethan to return.
...
In the car.
"Mr. Grant, did Mr. Arthur call you?" Christopher already figured.
Arthur grew impatient.
"Back to the Grant Family," Ethan sneered.
lody hit the headlines, Jayden also remained in the spotlight today, so dia even started investigating Ethan’s mother’s death.
This was a weakness of lody and Arthur.
Whether Jayden went to jail was secondary, but that matter couldn’t be let for dia to probe deeply.
"Mr. Arthur had people suppress the headlines, blocking all the hashtags related to Aunt," Christopher frowned, speaking softly.
"He’s guilty," Ethan’s voice deepened.
Christopher’s grip on the steering tightened.
Actually, observant people knew, Ethan’s mother’s death was suspicious; it was supposedly just an allergy, how could she suddenly die?
Ethan had requested an autopsy, but Arthur, as the husband, disagreed.
That year, Ethan hadn’t yet co of age, unable to shake Arthur’s might.
Ethan remained unmarried, didn’t receive the shares left by the Grant Family patriarch and his mother, thus Arthur never fully realized Ethan’s independence.
But now, things were evidently different.
Jayden was taken by the police, lody was in the center of public opinion.
Ethan had absolute control.
"My boy, you’re back; Madam threw a fit so severe she needed oxygen, Sir’s expression’s dark, get inside quickly."
The butler waited at the door.
Ethan walked indifferently into the living room, saw Arthur waiting on the sofa.
Looks like no other solution.
"Today I sent soone to the hospital for Yvette; she was discharged, you took her?" Arthur asked sternly, questioning.
