As she stood up, Yvette Aston spoke again. "When I was in prison, those people put dirty things in my water cup. Actually, I knew there were dirty things in my cup. I resisted, and they intensified their actions. So I simply stopped resisting, endured the nausea, and drank it anyway, once or twice. Just endure it until they find it boring, and they will stop using this way to tornt ."
After Yvette Aston developed depression, she beca mute. For a long ti, she was unable to speak.
But facing Ethan Grant, she seed to have a lot to explain.
"Just when they were about to lose interest in this torture thod, a fellow prisoner kindly reminded in front of everyone. Originally, it was sothing I could have endured until it was over, but after being reminded, it led to even more frenzied revenge. After all, that prisoner couldn’t protect all the ti. She was released in the second year."
Yvette Aston smiled bitterly.
After her protective cellmate was released, Yvette Aston’s life was self-explanatory.
Ethan Grant stood there stunned.
He had been lectured twice by Yvette Aston today.
He understood that Yvette Aston was alluding to his current situation that if he couldn’t protect her for life, then he shouldn’t make a move so easily.
"Think carefully about what I’ve told you before you answer. With Jayden Grant’s aversion to you and Sumrs, it’s impossible for him to help Sumrs with his schooling problem, but I can." Ethan Grant knew Yvette Aston’s weak spot.
Disappointnt flashed in Yvette Aston’s eyes.
She couldn’t think too well of Ethan Grant; after all, he was a businessman.
Over the years, she had completely shut herself off and absolutely could not allow herself to open her heart to anyone, nor could she entrust her trust to anyone ever again.
"Mom!" Sumrs returned, happily running to Yvette Aston’s side. "Uncle bought a toy."
Yvette Aston hugged Sumrs and shook her head. "Sumrs, you can’t just accept things from others. Return it to the uncle, okay?"
Sumrs lowered his head in disappointnt. He clearly loved those toys, but what his mom said was right, and he had forgotten that. "I’m sorry, Mom."
After that, Sumrs returned the toy to Christopher Carter. "I’m sorry, Uncle. Can it be returned?"
Christopher Carter was taken aback for a mont. "Yvette Aston, is that necessary? It’s just a child’s toy. Stop making this into sothing special, thinking our Mr. Grant will look at you differently."
Christopher Carter looked down on Yvette Aston, and it was pretty ingrained.
Yvette Aston didn’t explain anything, holding Sumrs as she was about to leave.
"Yvette Aston." Ethan Grant picked up the toy that Sumrs had placed on the ground and handed it back to him. "This is sothing I promised to Sumrs. He traded his stuffed animal with for this. He gave his stuffed animal, so it’s a fair exchange, and no one owes anyone anything."
Yvette Aston’s arms holding Sumrs stiffened for a mont. She glanced at her son and bowed in thanks. "Thank you, Mr. Grant."
Sumrs took the toy, his gaze lingering on Ethan Grant.
It wasn’t until Yvette Aston carried him far away that Sumrs finally looked away.
Ethan Grant rubbed his temples and spoke in a deep voice. "Inform The Aston Family and Jayden Grant that I was the one who called the police today, so they shouldn’t bother Yvette Aston again."
Christopher Carter nodded. "Understood."
...
Crouched in the subway station, Yvette Aston didn’t take Sumrs ho.
If Jayden Grant and Stellan Aston tracked her down, it would cause trouble for Caden Sumrs.
"Mom, this is Ultraman." Sitting in Yvette Aston’s lap, Sumrs was playing very seriously with the toy in his hands, clearly cherishing it.
"Why does Sumrs like Ultraman?" Yvette Aston quietly asked.
"Mom said that Dad fights monsters on another planet, isn’t that Ultraman? My dad is a hero." Sumrs spoke earnestly.
Yvette Aston’s eyes instantly glistened with tears as she hugged Sumrs tightly and smiled, "Ultraman isn’t our hero; Daddy is as mighty as The Monkey King, a hero who fights monsters."
Sumrs’ eyes lit up. "I like The Monkey King. Uncle has told about the fight with the White Bone Spirit three tis."
Yvette Aston hugged Sumrs tightly, warm amidst the heat. "How about Mommy tells Sumrs a story about the true and false Monkey King?"
"Yes!" Sumrs happily hugged Yvette Aston.
Children are always so easily satisfied.
Cuddling Sumrs in the subway all night, Yvette Aston leaned in exhaustion against the wall, watching as Sumrs slept peacefully in her embrace.
He was so considerate it made Yvette Aston’s heart ache.
All night, he didn’t even ask once why they weren’t going ho.
He just stayed by her side.
Yvette Aston grew more and more thankful that keeping this child was the right choice.
"Yvette Aston, you have a congenital heart condition, your constitution is weak, and your uterus is not well-developed. If you abort this child, the uterus... will be hard to save. But if you don’t terminate the pregnancy, the risk to you is great."
After finding out she was pregnant, Yvette Aston felt nauseous for a long, long ti. She didn’t even know who the man who violated her that night was.
She also hated this child and wanted to carry out an abortion, but in the end, she wavered.
She kept Sumrs.
"Sumrs, it’s dawn, let’s go ho."
At 6:40 in the morning, Yvette Aston woke Sumrs and took him ho.
By this ti, it was certain that Jayden Grant and Stellan Aston’s people would’ve already left if they couldn’t find her.
But when they returned to Caden Sumrs’ rented apartnt, Yvette Aston was frightened to tears.
Their apartnt had been set on fire, and overnight, nothing was left of it.
"Brother..." Yvette Aston ran towards the burnt-out shell in terror.
"Uncle!" Sumrs cried as well. Uncle was still inside!
