Yvette Aston didn’t speak, she closed her eyes and pretended to faint.

She was afraid of being seen through.

Ethan’s eyes were like the scorching sun, as if they could see her clearly, leaving her nowhere to hide.

Christopher Carter glanced at Sumrs, who was sitting in the passenger seat, quietly holding the seatbelt without making a sound, and couldn’t help but tease him gently. "Your mom is fine, she will be okay."

Sumrs mustered the courage to turn his head to look at his mom.

He wasn’t timid, nor was he afraid of blood, he was afraid of losing his mom.

Ethan frowned and instinctively took off his suit to cover the bloodstains on Yvette Aston.

He was worried the child would be frightened by it.

Sumrs looked intensely at Yvette Aston, then turned to Ethan. "Dad, you will always protect and mom, right?"

Ethan was montarily stunned; he couldn’t make such a promise to the child because he knew he couldn’t fulfill it.

He couldn’t always take care of Yvette Aston.

If Yvette Aston doesn’t learn to be strong, their lives won’t get any better.

"Sorry..." Ethan couldn’t lie, he felt regretful.

Sumrs felt dejected, his eyes turned red, and he turned to sit properly.

The whole way, Sumrs was very downcast.

He was so small, only five, with slightly chubby cheeks, big eyes, long eyelashes trembling, still holding tears.

Ethan was inexplicably agitated, unsure why he cared so much about this child.

He tugged at his tie and finally couldn’t resist; grabbing a pen, he took Sumrs’ hand and wrote his private number in his palm. "Can you rember my number?"

This number was Ethan’s personal number; apart from Christopher Carter, no one in the company knew it.

Ethan only used this number to contact those he cared about.

Christopher Carter looked at Ethan in shock, realizing that he liked this child.

Honestly, Christopher himself also couldn’t bear it; this little one’s too heart-wrenching.

At five years old, he had endured too much.

Sumrs’ eyes lit up, nodding his head. "I’ve rembered it."

Ethan raised his brow. "Recite it to ."

Sumrs indeed recited his number without missing a digit.

"This little guy has a photographic mory." Christopher Carter comnted with a smile.

Ethan looked at Sumrs. "In the future, if there’s danger, you can call ."

"Is dad really Superman? Will you co save whenever I call?" Sumrs asked anxiously, his sensitivity showing.

Ethan frowned and said nothing.

He couldn’t guarantee it.

Christopher Carter parked the car and couldn’t bear to see the little one so dejected. "Here, rember Uncle’s number, I’ll only say it once; if anything happens, call Uncle, and I can co save you too."

Christopher Carter got out of the car and opened the door for Sumrs.

Sumrs quietly morized Christopher Carter’s number.

Ethan got out of the car, intending to carry Yvette Aston.

Yvette Ashton had already woken up, instinctively moving away from Ethan, shrinking back in fear.

Ethan stood outside the car door, signaling for her to get out on her own.

Yvette Aston got out of the car, everything went black, and she fell into Ethan’s arms.

Terror-stricken, she retreated a step, lowered her head, and walked towards the hospital on her own.

"Mom..." Sumrs ran over, holding his mom’s hand.

Yvette Aston shrunk her body, afraid of scaring Sumrs, she put on Ethan’s jacket.

The jacket was stained with her blood, likely won’t co clean anymore.

Ethan’s clothes were so expensive, she couldn’t afford to repay them.

Her eyes turned red, Yvette Aston tightened her grip on Sumrs’ hand.

"The investigation data says Yvette Aston suffered a lot in prison, later developed suicidal tendencies, then a guard applied for psychological treatnt, ntioning severe depression accompanying language disorder, aning unless she wishes to speak..."

Christopher Carter sighed.

Sumrs is truly pitiful, after all, he’s just a child.

But with Yvette Aston, it seems her misfortune stirs so blaworthiness.

She brought this upon herself, implicating her child.

"Why is she so afraid of n getting close?" Ethan asked.

If not for being traumatized, she wouldn’t be like this.

"Heard she was raped, initially she explained to everyone, saying she didn’t betray Young Master Jayden on purpose; it wasn’t voluntary; she was hard. But no one believed her, eventually, she stopped talking about it, and later when Young Master Jayden questioned her, she simply acknowledged it."

Ethan frowned, she was indeed a troubleso woman.

Disinfection room.

The doctor administered anesthesia to Yvette Aston and stitched her wound.

Yvette Aston always sat quietly, her eyes hollow, like a soulless doll.

"If it hurts, just say so." The doctor gently comforted.

Yvette Aston never moved, never uttered a sound.

"Eardrum perforation, blood still oozing in the ear canal, after receiving the inflammation shot, rest well, don’t let water enter the ear."

Yvette Aston’s left ear was completely non-functional, after the doctor treated the wound, her ear was wrapped up too.

Now, she couldn’t hear at all.

"Can you hear clearly with the right ear?" The doctor asked her from the right side.

Yvette Aston nodded.

The doctor glanced at Ethan. "You can leave the hospital after finishing the IV drip."

"Thank you," Ethan said, approached Yvette Aston, "I let Christopher take the child out."

He was afraid Sumrs would be scared seeing Yvette Aston getting stitched.

"Thank you." Yvette Aston whispered.

"The police will co soon, this ti the evidence is conclusive, the nanny doesn’t dare to cover for Charlotte Sumrs, if you have sothing to say, tell the police," Ethan reminded Yvette Aston not to be foolish or cowardly again.

This was the opportunity Ethan gave Yvette Aston.

If Yvette Aston still doesn’t cherish it, he won’t care about her anymore.
