From breakfast to dropping Sumrs off at school, Yvette’s mood seed low.
She was distracted, not sure what she was thinking about.
Ethan glanced at Yvette, speaking in a deep voice. "Are you feeling unwell?"
Yvette quickly shook her head. "No..."
She was just worried about Caden.
Yvette was self-aware, knowing that in her relationship with Ethan, no matter what, she could not cross the boundary. That was the bottom line.
But Caden, he was very naive in matters of the heart.
Once, Caden loved a girl, but because Charlotte openly accused him of molesting her... abusing her, that relationship ended.
Since then, Caden has been alone, living a simple life with Sumrs for five years. No one dared to introduce soone to him, and even those who were interested backed off after learning he had a child.
Caden didn’t want to find soone either. He was used to being alone, except for Sumrs and his mother in prison; he had no other attachnts.
Actually, for Caden, Yvette’s five years in prison were also a tornt, just that one was inside and the other outside.
"Pull over on the roadside for a mont." Ethan instructed the driver to stop on the roadside.
The driver was startled, then quickly parked the car.
Ethan got out and bought a cup of milk tea from the roadside shop.
Yvette was stunned and ran over. "Mr. Grant likes milk tea? I’ll buy it next ti."
Ethan handed the milk tea to Yvette. "Bought this for you."
Yvette held the milk tea, staring blankly for a long ti.
For her...?
Her eyes reddened slightly, she lowered her head and followed Ethan back to the car.
"I noticed you like adding a lot of sugar to your coffee." Ethan guessed that Yvette probably liked sweets.
Yvette didn’t say anything, it was just that life was too bitter, so she liked sweet things.
Since the day after drinking the dicine, Ethan said, if you ever feel bitter, have a piece of candy.
"Thank you, Mr. Grant."
...
Grant Group.
Yvette, working as a personal assistant, entered the company with Ethan, which everyone had grown accustod to.
"Good morning, Mr. Grant." The employees greeted Ethan.
Ethan nodded coolly.
It wasn’t Yvette’s imagination; from the mont Ethan entered the company, he beca intimidatingly aloof.
Ethan was drastically different at ho compared to the company.
"Yvette, co over here for a mont." Christopher wanted to call Yvette over before entering the elevator.
Ethan frowned. "It’s not office hours yet, what do you want with her?"
Christopher looked confused. "Mr. Grant, you’ve had breakfast, but we haven’t. I’m taking Yvette to breakfast."
"..." Yvette looked embarrassed; actually, she had eaten.
She even ate with Mr. Grant.
"She’s busy, very busy." Ethan directly closed the elevator door.
Christopher was shut outside the elevator. "..."
Their Mr. Grant is really squeezing his employees too hard.
Yvette is too pitiful.
Sighing, Christopher increasingly felt that Yvette was too pitiful, and he should be kinder to her in the future.
Everyone bullied Yvette, lody was even vicious enough to want to ruin Yvette with acid.
However one looked at Yvette, she was a pitiable person.
Inside the elevator.
The air pressure was sowhat low.
Yvette looked up and secretly glanced at Ethan, not sure why he suddenly beca so downcast.
"Mr... Mr. Grant." Yvette called softly.
"Stay away from Christopher from now on." Ethan spoke in a deep voice.
Yvette was a bit puzzled. "Christopher is... quite nice, we have to work together; how can I stay away..."
Yvette didn’t quite understand what Ethan ant.
"What I an is..." Ethan hesitated, his Adam’s apple moved, he snorted softly and didn’t say more.
He knew Christopher too well, Christopher was not one to overflow with sympathy; he only overflowed for beautiful won.
Previously, he spoke endlessly ill of Yvette in front of him, and now he’s openly and subtly speaking well of her and pointing out he shouldn’t squeeze the staff, clearly with bad intentions.
Ha, n.
"Mr. Grant, here’s the schedule for this week." Entering the office, Yvette handed Ethan the work tablet. "The cooperation with Mr. Aldridge in Solara has been successfully concluded. According to the company’s requirents, there’s a celebration dinner tonight. Will you attend?"
Ethan lightly tapped his fingers on the table; he never participated in company team-building activities.
Yvette knew this but still asked... She probably hoped he would attend this ti.
"If possible, could you break the routine and attend? And praise Eric Larson in front of the executives and the project team; that would boost his sense of honor and pride within the company." Yvette spoke quietly, with traces of pleading.
Ethan was silent for a mont, then nodded. "Okay, you arrange it."
Arthur had already called him, asking him to co ho tonight, saying lody would personally cook.
Ha... Is this for her to apologize, or to shift bla?
"After the team-building ends, will you accompany ho?" Ethan solicited Yvette’s opinion.
"Hmm..." Yvette nodded too. "Mr. Grant’s arrangent works for ."
Ethan was a bit exasperated; Yvette towards him... was entirely a businesslike attitude.
"No matter what happens tonight, don’t be afraid, I’ll be there." Ethan spoke again.
He would absolutely not let the incident of lody putting acid in the water slide.
Yvette nervously clenched her fingers and nodded.
...
Kindergarten.
Sumrs was in a ntal arithtic class; a teacher called his na outside the door.
Sumrs obediently stood up and went out, looking at the teacher. "Teacher, do you need sothing from ?"
"Sumrs, your hair is getting long, haven’t you had a haircut?" The teacher asked softly.
Sumrs shook his head. "Uncle said my hair isn’t long yet, doesn’t need a haircut."
"Teacher can trim it for you." The teacher took Sumrs’ hand and led him to the office.
"Teacher, if you want to cut my hair, you need my mom’s permission." Sumrs was a little wary, disagreeing to have his hair cut.
"Just trimming a little, it’s fine." The teacher coaxed.
"No, uncle said that one’s body and hair is given by parents, so I can’t let soone else casually cut my hair." Sumrs refused.
"Sumrs, be obedient." The teacher obviously lost patience, reaching out to grab a few hairs with follicles.
But Sumrs quickly dodged. "If it’s long, mom will take for a haircut. I don’t want the teacher to cut it."
"Alright then, let tidy it for you." The teacher spoke with a smile, putting the scissors down, waving to Sumrs.
Sumrs looked at the teacher suspiciously and approached.
"Teacher, you pulled my hair." Feeling his hair pulled from the roots, Sumrs’ eyes reddened with pain.
The teacher seed to have pulled out quite a few of his hairs.
"Sorry, Sumrs, it wasn’t intentional. Your hair got tangled. Teacher was just tidying it." The teacher spoke with a smile, fussing over a few hairs. "Go back to class."
Sumrs looked at the teacher confusedly, turned and ran back to the classroom.
Looking at the strands with follicles in hand, the teacher put them into a small plastic bag. "Miss Bell, Sumrs’ hair with follicles is ready, I checked. It’s advised to send for analysis within two weeks; otherwise, the results won’t be accurate after too long."
On the phone, Wendy’s voice sounded hoarse. "You’ve done well, send the hair."
Sumrs’ hair with follicles is now in hand, waiting on Claudia Bell’s end.
Though, a child might be easy to fool, Henry Jennings might not be.
