"Co with , Mr. Grant is furious." Christopher Carter sighed, gesturing Yvette Aston to follow him.

Yvette Aston wiped her tears, forcing herself not to reveal any weakness, and followed Christopher Carter with her head down.

"What’s wrong with you? Why did you run off last night? Feeling guilty?" As soon as they entered the hotel, the receptionist from last night saw Yvette Aston and angrily approached her. "Is that employee badge fake?"

Yvette Aston said nothing, keeping her head down.

Christopher Carter frowned, about to ask what happened, when he saw Ethan Grant coming out of the elevator.

The receptionist quickly greeted him. "Mr. Grant, did you rest well last night?"

Ethan Grant’s face was grim, his gaze fixed on Yvette Aston.

Yvette Aston didn’t dare to look up at Ethan Grant and stood there, awkward and unsure.

Ethan Grant ignored everyone else and walked straight up to Yvette Aston.

Yvette Aston nervously bit her lip and took a step back.

Her fingers clutched together anxiously.

The pressure around Ethan Grant was palpable, and under everyone’s astonished gaze, he raised his hand and brushed Yvette Aston’s hair aside.

Yvette Aston only felt his fingers burning hot where they touched her.

She panicked and tried to dodge, but Ethan Grant grabbed her wrist.

"Why are you running?" Ethan Grant’s voice was oppressive.

Yvette Aston’s eyes reddened with grievance, yet she didn’t dare cry.

Ethan Grant’s gaze landed on the bite mark on the back of Yvette Aston’s neck, he raised an eyebrow and spoke again. "Where were you last night?"

Yvette Aston kept her head low, her voice hoarse. "Sorry... I’m sorry, I... couldn’t find you, it’s all my fault..."

Yvette Aston cried anxiously, fearing to let Ethan Grant know the truth, so she lied. "I’m sorry, please... don’t, don’t fire ."

Yvette Aston tried hard not to cry, but she was scared.

Scared that Ethan Grant would abandon her.

She really needed Ethan Grant right now.

"Why would I fire you?" Ethan Grant whispered, with the oppressive atmosphere visibly dissipating.

Not only that, but there seed to be a hint of... relief?

Christopher Carter was dumbfounded, wondering what had happened to their usually serious boss?

"I just couldn’t... find you last night." Yvette Aston continued sobbing as she explained.

Ethan Grant wasn’t angry; instead, his voice softened. "Alright, go upstairs and freshen up."

Christopher Carter opened his mouth in disbelief. Was he hearing things? Why was Ethan Grant speaking to Yvette Aston so tenderly?

Yvette Aston nodded, wanting to leave.

Ethan Grant suddenly grabbed Yvette Aston’s wrist again without hiding it from anyone, raising his hand to feel her forehead’s temperature.

His expression beca serious again as he looked at Yvette Aston’s flushed cheeks. "Go upstairs and get so rest, I’ll have breakfast sent up."

"B-but..." Yvette Aston checked the ti nervously.

"No rush, it’s only seven-thirty, the eting is at two," Ethan Grant explained patiently.

Christopher Carter touched his forehead, feeling like he might be getting a fever too.

Having just been sched against, Christopher Carter thought Ethan Grant would be in a ’kill anyone who crosses him’ kind of mood...

So why was his behavior so odd?

It was scarier than wanting to kill soone in a fit of rage.

"Go buy cold dicine," Ethan Grant turned and said coldly.

Christopher Carter shivered, still recognizing the familiar Mr. Grant.

But why was his voice so cold when speaking to him, yet so gentle with Yvette Aston? Where’s the justice?

The receptionists were all stunned, nervously looking at each other. Was this woman really... Mr. Grant’s assistant?

Then why did their manager last night... instruct them to stop her?

Yvette Aston wiped her tears, walking up to the front desk. "My... employee badge."

The receptionist was frightened and quickly handed the badge back to Yvette Aston. "S-sorry."

Yvette Aston said nothing, staggering slightly as she entered the elevator.

Her head was spinning.

As soon as Yvette Aston entered the elevator, Ethan Grant’s gentle expression instantly turned icy.

Christopher Carter pinched himself to ensure it wasn’t an illusion.

"M-Mr. Grant..."

"Why was Yvette’s employee badge at the front desk?" Ethan Grant asked in a deep voice.

"M-Miss Aston, last night..." The receptionist hesitated.

"Sorry Mr. Grant, we mistakenly thought Miss Aston was..."

"Was what?" Ethan Grant frowned, out of patience.

"An escort..." The receptionist said nervously, "Mr. Grant, really, it’s not our fault. We really didn’t know Miss Aston was your assistant."

Seeing Ethan Grant’s icy gaze, the two young receptionists were so frightened they turned pale and their voices trembled.

"The manager gave us a photo and told us to stop her, saying she might be... an escort," the receptionist nervously bowed her head.

"Hah..." Ethan Grant laughed coldly.

Truly remarkable.

Not only did they sche against him, but they dared to bully his people.

"Investigate, fire who needs to be fired, sue who needs to be sued, blacklist them across the industry if needed." Ethan Grant glanced at Christopher Carter and turned to leave the hotel.

"Mr. Grant!" Christopher Carter gasped, knowing last night’s incident truly touched Ethan Grant’s deepest nerve.

Being blacklisted in the industry ant that the hotel’s managent would not only face unemploynt but also legal action and a permanent ban from the hotel industry.

"Mr. Grant, your dining area is on the second floor, where are you going?" Christopher Carter chased after him nervously.

"To buy dicine." Ethan Grant looked anxious, as if worried.

"Huh? I can go." Christopher Carter hadn’t caught up yet.

"No need, you handle the hotel’s issue." Ethan Grant warned, pointing at Christopher Carter. "Thoroughly investigate, handle anyone who made things difficult for Yvette last night."

Christopher Carter was montarily confused; the president of Grant Group going personally to buy dicine for his assistant?

"Mr. Grant... last ti on our business trip, I was so sick I almost died, yet you didn’t buy dicine for ," Christopher Carter complained in a jealous mumble.

"Why? Are you my wife?" Ethan Grant gave Christopher Carter a disdainful look and walked away quickly.

Christopher Carter stood there, shocked, unable to recover for a long ti.

Ethan Grant didn’t have to say it; Christopher had almost forgotten that Yvette Aston wasn’t just the president’s assistant but also his contract wife.

His brain was functioning poorly.

...

In the room.

Yvette Aston took a hot shower and walked out of the bathroom feeling dizzy, unable to stand steadily.

"Hello, ma’am, al delivery for you." It was the hotel’s staff with a al delivery outside.

Yvette Aston weakly opened the door and saw the staff push in a sumptuous breakfast.

"M-Mr. Grant..." Yvette Aston was stunned, seeing Ethan Grant also outside the door.

Seeing Yvette Aston struggling to stand, Ethan Grant instinctively moved forward to embrace her protectively.

It was that familiar scent, it was indeed her.

"Leave us." Indicating the staff to leave, Ethan Grant picked Yvette Aston up and carried her back to the bed.

Yvette Aston was so nervous that she didn’t dare breathe, her heartbeat quickened.

"Where did you freeze all night?" Ethan Grant was a bit angry, not understanding why Yvette Aston ran; would he really hurt her?

Still lying... If he hadn’t bitten her once out of curiosity last night, was she planning to use him without any responsibility?

Yvette Aston sniffled, hiding under the covers with only her eyes exposed.

Feeling guilty.

"Drink the dicine." While reprimanding, Ethan Grant prepared the dicine for Yvette Aston with hot water.

Yvette Aston looked at Ethan Grant through blurred vision.

Why was he so good to her?

"Yvette, take the dicine and let’s talk, about six years ago..." Ethan Grant stirred the cold redy, intending to settle scores with Yvette Aston, but turned and found she had already fallen asleep.

She was too tired, too exhausted.
