Wendy Bell was stunned for a mont, then lowered her head and spoke softly. "You said you would take responsibility for ... Uncle Grant agreed to the alliance between our two families. The dia have already reported it today, and when the reporters interviewed Uncle Grant, he admitted it."
In Wendy Bell’s view, this marriage was already set in stone. There was no harm in Ethan Grant getting engaged to her.
Moreover, Ethan Grant had no reason to refuse. After all, Arthur Grant had already agreed and admitted to it in front of reporters.
If Ethan Grant disagreed or denied it, he would be publicly embarrassing his father, Arthur Grant.
Ethan Grant’s position in the Grant Group was not secure; it could be easily taken over by lody Crowe and Jayden Grant. A business marriage was the only way to solidify Ethan’s position and comrcial value in the Grant Group.
So, unless Ethan Grant was a fool, he definitely would not deny it.
Yvette Aston held her laptop, her fingers slowly tightening.
She had seen the news.
Arthur Grant indeed confird the alliance with the Bell Group.
The dia were already racing to report it.
They said it would be the wedding of the century.
Many even said the Bell Family had struck it rich this ti.
The eldest daughter marrying Ethan Grant, the second daughter marrying Henry Jennings.
The Bell Family’s plans were clear even to the netizens.
But there was nothing to be done; an alliance with the Bells was indeed extrely advantageous for Ethan Grant’s current situation.
This was sothing Yvette Aston couldn’t help him with.
She could only do her best to handle internal company affairs for Ethan Grant.
"My father agreed to the family alliance? Does he plan to divorce and remarry?" Ethan Grant asked.
Wendy Bell’s breath hitched, and she forced a smile. "Ethan, don’t joke about that."
Ethan Grant snorted and boarded the plane.
Yvette followed behind Christopher Carter, making way for Wendy Bell to join Ethan Grant.
In truth... Yvette understood that the benefits Wendy Bell could bring to Ethan Grant far outweighed those of anyone else.
"Give this to ," Christopher Carter said, taking the laptop bag and gesturing for Yvette to sit inside.
The seats in the business class were spacious and quiet.
Yvette sat inside, turning to look outside the plane.
It had been six years since she last flew on a plane.
As Christopher Carter settled in, Ethan Grant pushed him aside. "You sit over there, take care of Miss Bell."
"..." Christopher Carter was bewildered. Who am I? Where am I?
Why do I have to take care of Miss Bell?
Mr. Grant, isn’t this your responsibility?
Internally screaming, Christopher Carter blinked desperately, but Ethan Grant didn’t notice him, having already settled in and peacefully closed his eyes.
Yvette kept her gaze on the window, unaware that Ethan and Christopher had swapped seats.
Beside her, at the window seat, Wendy Bell was about to lose control of her tears.
Biting her lip with humiliation, Wendy Bell tightly clenched her hands.
What did Ethan Grant an by this?
Was he so opposed to her?
"Miss Bell, if there’s anything you need, just let know! Mr. Grant only wants you to be well taken care of, that’s why I’m here," Christopher Carter said, his mind racing for words.
Wendy Bell snorted and turned away.
With Arthur Grant, Ethan Grant would certainly marry her.
Once married, they could slowly develop feelings for each other.
Wendy Bell didn’t believe soone as excellent as Ethan Grant would ever like soone as tainted as Yvette Aston. Clearly, Ethan was just using Yvette as a smokescreen.
She didn’t mind; she could take it slow.
After gazing outside the window for a long ti, even as the plane took off, Yvette didn’t realize Ethan Grant was sitting beside her.
"Christopher, are we still booking a room for Miss Wendy, or will she be staying with Mr. Grant?" Yvette asked, leaning against the seat with a lowered head.
"What do you think?" Ethan Grant asked, his eyes still closed, frowning slightly.
Startled by Ethan’s voice, Yvette tried to stand up suddenly, but the seatbelt bit into her waist, almost bringing tears to her eyes.
Ethan Grant opened his eyes and sighed. "Are you that afraid of ?"
Yvette lowered her head and shrank towards the window.
"It’s an airplane. Are you thinking of stepping out?" Ethan found teasing Yvette an unexpected amusent.
Yvette glanced timidly at Ethan, then at Christopher and Wendy Bell.
Christopher sat forlornly next to Wendy Bell, casting a glare at Yvette.
Yvette took a deep breath and cleared her throat. "Mr. Grant, are we booking a room for Miss Wendy?"
"Don’t bother," Ethan replied in a low voice, closing his eyes to rest again.
Yvette dared not speak further; Ethan’s mood was noticeably tense.
The flight from ridia to Solara was over in a little more than three hours. Yvette didn’t dare to close her eyes the whole ti, cautiously curling at the edge, sneaking glances at Ethan Grant.
This man was indeed good-looking.
In terms of appearance, physique, and deanor.
He didn’t even need to speak; rely resting with closed eyes, he exuded an intrinsic aura of authority.
Previously, Yvette thought Jayden Grant was handso, but compared to Ethan, Jayden seed far too immature.
Once off the plane, a dedicated driver was already waiting.
The Ripple Court International Hotel, a national chain under the Grant Group, was the natural choice for Ethan Grant’s stay.
Secretary Ziegler had arrived on an earlier flight and arranged everything at the hotel, bringing the driver to greet them.
"Mr. Grant, Miss Bell." The secretary smiled, moving forward to take Wendy Bell’s luggage.
Wendy Bell gave the secretary a knowing glance.
The secretary nodded.
Wendy Bell smiled as she walked to Ethan’s side, reaching out to straighten his tie and blazer.
Reporters had been waiting outside the airport. The angle of this photo would certainly be suggestive.
Ethan Grant took a step back, his expression darkening.
He didn’t bother to expose Wendy Bell, fully aware of the reporters outside. "Yvette, co here."
Yvette was still unloading luggage. She quickly ran over to Ethan. "Mr. Grant, what’s up?"
"My tie, adjust it," Ethan spoke with a deep voice.
Wendy Bell stood stiffly, but maintained her smile. "Yvette, I’m sorry. I’ve never had a man adjust my tie before, nor do I know how to tie one. You must teach soti when you’re free."
Yvette’s fingers froze for a mont as she adjusted Ethan Grant’s tie, understanding the implication behind Wendy Bell’s words.
She’d had many n, thus her proficiency.
Without saying anything, Yvette turned and opened the car door for Ethan.
Wendy Bell gave Yvette a knowing smile and got into the back seat with Ethan.
Yvette took her place in the front, the atmosphere in the spacious business vehicle growing notably tense.
Yvette inexplicably felt a chill along her back, as if a resentful gaze was boring into her.
"Ethan, my senior brother is already at the Ripple Court Hotel. Shall we let Yvette and Christopher handle the luggage and head over? We’re all familiar, and it’s not a business eting, so there’s no need for assistants. Otherwise, it seems too formal," Wendy Bell suggested with a smile, unwilling for Yvette to follow.
"I’m used to having soone with . Christopher stays behind; Yvette cos with ," Ethan Grant said, giving Yvette a aningful look.
Yvette opened her mouth but didn’t say anything.
Wendy Bell’s expression soured, but she couldn’t refuse outright.
At the hotel, Ethan stood behind Yvette, his voice low. "It seems you’ve forgotten your duty."
Having Yvette by his side was to act as a shield against won throwing themselves at him.
Why did Yvette always seem to avoid her responsibilities?
Yvette let out a sound, uncertain. Wasn’t Wendy Bell an exception?
But the Grant and Bell families were bound to form an alliance eventually.
"I’m allergic to won; tell her to stay away from ," Ethan warned Yvette, his face stern, reminding her not to abandon her post.
Yvette was puzzled. Allergic to won? Wasn’t she a woman?
"Ethan, I brought two bottles of fine wine, imported from Vostral. You’ll love them," Wendy Bell remarked, instructing Secretary Carter to bring the wine. "Let’s enjoy them tonight."
