Kael’s eyes widened slightly and he turned his gaze towards Lyria sharply causing her to almost falter and wonder if she did sothing wrong.
"Did you just say thanks?"
"No," Lyria replied calmly. "You misheard it."
Kael’s lips twitched. He decided not to pursue it and went back to enjoying the taste of the tea.
Lyria watched him quietly, fiddling with her fingers as if trying to suppress sothing.
"Sir."
"Yes?"
"About your engagent with—"
KNOCK! KNOCK!
Her words were cut off by a loud knock on the door.
"Who is it?" Kael asked.
"It’s Rami, Young Master. His Highness asks for you urgently in the field."
"Coming!" Kael shouted.
He turned back to Lyria.
"What were you saying?"
"Nothing."
"Uhh..." Kael looked at her for a mont, then shook his head and left.
After he dressed and walked away, Lyria stared at his fading figure and clicked her tongue.
’Lyria... you are an idiot.’
......
Kael reached the ground where he saw Ruth waiting for him.
"Before you go, I need to show you sothing."
Ruth stood ahead with his arms folded.
Kael followed his gaze and saw lines of black-armored n standing in formation. Each of them radiated a chilling presence. Their killing intent was dense and sharp, like blades pressing against the air itself. Even standing still, they felt like beasts ready to strike.
"Black Lions of Veydrin," Kael said with a crazed smile.
Ruth nodded."Before you leave, this is a good ti for you to learn about commanding the Black Lions."
"Hm."
Ruth walked slowly back and forth as he spoke.
"We have eight hundred Black Knights. Not all of them are S rank, but none of them are below peak A rank."
"The Vice-Captain of the Black Knights is SS rank."
"Stuart."
"Hyyy!"
A man stepped forward. His armor was different from the others, marked with golden stripes along the black tal. He saluted sharply.
Ruth nodded back.
"All of them are trained in both Dark and Lightning pathways," Ruth continued. "They can carry out assassination, intelligence gathering, reconnaissance, and many other tasks with precision."
"The most important aspect of the Black Knights is this. They only obey the command of the Grand Duke."
"Or rather, the one who bears the Seal of Veydrin."
Kael looked around curiously."How are they trained?"
Ruth paused for a mont.
"You don’t need to know that now."
"...Alright."
"What about the Captain?" Kael asked.
"He is busy," Ruth replied. "You will et him soon. For now, rember one thing."
"He is not an ordinary person."
"Okay," Kael said with a frown and waited for further explanation but hearing none,he asked,"What’s so special about him?"
"You will know later."
A thick vein bulged on his forehead.
"Yes, tell after I die, okay!"
Ruth turned toward the Black Knights and raised his voice.
"Black Lions!"
"I have already handed over the power to rule to my son, Kael Veydrin."
"As soon as he reaches SSS rank, he will take the seat."
"Kael!"
"Yes!" Kael shouted. He slamd his foot onto the ground.
A powerful shockwave burst outward, cracking the ground beneath him. His aura erupted violently, like a roaring fla mixed with thunder. The air trembled, and the Black Knights felt pressure bearing down on their bodies.
"Show them the seal!"
"Seal?"
"I an the Black Lion!"
Kael nodded and released the Black Lion.
"Rooorrr!"
The mont it appeared and descended, the Black Knights almost faltered.
Stuart nearly lost his stance.
Because floating over Kael’s shoulder was a small cub.
Its roar sounded more like a cute puppy than a terrifying beast.
The Black Knights stared in disbelief. Their eyes slowly turned toward Ruth.
"Cough," Ruth cleared his throat awkwardly. "It is the Black Lion, but for so reason, it turned into a small puppy..I an lion cub inside him."
Kael gritted his teeth and glared at the cub.
"Aren’t you even ashad?"
"ow."
"...What the fuck?"
"Did you just ow?"
"Rooorrr!"
"Fuck you!"
........
Carriages rolled across the open land, pulled by powerful horses. A huge battalion marched across the plains, heading toward the eastern territories.
Inside the largest carriage, which looked more like a small mansion, Kael stood studying a map spread across the table.
Around him were his n and a team from the Royal side, led by Sol.
Behind him stood Adriana, Vic, Seraphina, and Lyria, all staring at the map silently.
"Lyria, did you bring the cigars?" Kael asked.
"I did," Lyria replied calmly. "But you’ve been smoking too much, so Lady Emilia asked to regulate you."
Kael shot her a glare, but she shook her head.
"Sorry. I won’t."
"I am your master," Kael said. "Your job is to fulfill my orders."
"I am your maid," Lyria replied. "My job is to take care of you. Smoking is injurious to health."
"That’s for normal people."
"Do you want to call Elfie and tell him his father is becoming a heavy smoker?"
"..."
Kael froze.
’Wait... wait...’
’Since when did my cold, mindless maid start thinking like this?’
He turned around. The others quickly averted their gazes.
Kael sighed.
He looked at Sol.
"From all the intel we’ve read, it shouldn’t be hard for Duke Serpentine to subdue the eastern side," Kael said. "The difference in forces isn’t that big, right?"
"You’re right," Sol replied. "But it’s not that simple. There’s a hidden note."
Sol pulled out a docunt from a ring and handed it over.
As Kael read it, his eyes widened.
"What happened?" Ariana asked.
Kael showed them the report.
"Hiss... looks like trouble is rising," Vic chuckled uneasily.
Suddenly, a loud boom echoed through the carriage.
"What now?" Kael grabbed the table as the carriage shook violently.
Vic leaned out of the window, about to shout, but suddenly felt a chilling presence. He imdiately pulled himself back inside.
"My Lord, there’s an enemy."
"Enemy?"
Kael stepped out of the carriage.
The mont he did, his eyes widened.
A massive shadow lood over the land ahead, towering above everything in its path.
