The boy called Soros walked in the dark of the night, with a face as dead as a fish, while his steps were as silent as a thief. Hiding from the patrols as well as the little critters that flew in the sky, as he was paranoid of being noticed by a familiar of so kind.

A habit he cultivated for the last four years, living as a beggar at first, then as a slave to Blue Lotus, whose only purpose was sothing he never cared about.

But what he did care about was Maisel. The man who ruined his life and destroyed his family for a war not his own.

Soros bloodheart was his true na, a noble from the nights of the bloodcrow lineage. He was born with a bloodline suitable for darkness, but his family’s Knight technique was burned together with his whole family under Maisel’s flas.

That was his true goal since the start, a clan extinction to prevent any future troubles. A duty he had to follow for the safety of his people. Noble goals to so, but at the end of the day, the ones that burned under his flas were none other than Soros’s family. And he was only spared due to how young he was along with his lack of knowledge about the family techniques.

But it was not just his family that died that day, a part of him was burned in that fire as well. Even the desire for revenge in his heart was never as strong nor was his desire to live.

The only thing that he did desire was his family, which if the blue Lotus were to be believed, can only be obtained if he dies.

So he wished to do just that. Using his experience as a rat from all those years ago, he walked on his two feet slowly toward the Mayor’s mansion which was twelve kiloters away from. Which would have taken three hours on foot usually. But due to the patrols and the need to hide from the eyes, it was taking much longer than expected.

But this didn’t an that Soros had to walk there on his feet. In a city filled with mages, there was always a way.

Paths hidden from the eyes that only the Blue lotus had known about due to their years of exploration.

And all of it begins in the sewers. So Soros, reaching the old city area, found the closest sewer and entered it. But it didn’t an he was free from the patrols, because at night, the sewer echoed with sounds of chiseling as well as mining.

The soldiers as well as conscripted masons were actively rubbing off the walls of any inscriptions and they were everywhere. Which surprised Soros a bit, he didn’t expect there to be people here at this ti.

Nor did Pansar got the chance to explain all of this to him, the fight broke out a bit too fast and there was not much to explain. The original plan had always been for Pansar to lead Soros, not him going alone.

Not to ntion, the sewer were completely dark and the lights that illuminated the far off corners in a path probably dictated that it were the soldiers, so going toward any kind of light was nothing more than a suicide.

Which ant, there was only one thod left.

Soros took off the ring that Pansar had given him, causing a small burst of curse to release from his body that he actively took control of.

’?’ Looking toward the light source in the distance, Soros can see that there was no movent, aning he had gone undetected.

But his safety confird, Soros released a bit of curse power along the walls, using them to search for the path that was ntioned in the map.

And before long, he found one of the hollow walls and the key that was just three brick presses. Opening a small path, only capable of holding a single young boy of his height.

Which was a bit odd, but Soros never asked such questions. No, he never even considered these questions.

Even the thought of destroying his family’s enemy didn’t bring him any joy. The excitent of taking his revenge was non-existent for him.

What he wanted was for the Blue Lotus to keep their promises, give him a new life and...

While crawling in the small path, unaware of how long it was, Soros suddenly felt unconscious due to the dead air.

The poor child didn’t even notice when and why it happened, the stagnant air that had remained rotten had turned his foolish boy incapable of moving forward.

Of course, the oxygen here was drained using sacrifices of so of my fellow minions. Sa as many other similar paths that were built specifically for Soros, whose target had been Maisel.

And due to the size of this path, it would have been impossible for Pansar to ever co with Soros. Which, thanks to Remira, went into an entirely different direction.

But no worries, the things that happened, happened for good.

*****

In an empty wasteland, whose horizons were covered in fog with flas dancing inside them.

Soros, who just found himself in this odd place called out one na. "Sister Lydia?"

There she was, his older sister as well as an aspiring knight, sitting on a tree stump with a bright smile on her face. "Soros, how you have grown up. Co here!!" She said in a kind manner, standing up from the stump, before walking toward Soros.

Who, instead of showing enthusiasm, Soros just shook his head. "You are not her. Another ga of dreams?"

To break his dream and beco the carrier of such powerful curse power, Soros had killed his family with his own hands in his dream. So such simple mind gas were nothing to him.

He was soone that had survived countless hours of torture in his dream, watching his family die again and again. And even with those experiences, he was still able to break the dream of his own white being a mortal.

A feat countless mage apprentices, knights as well as Curse users have failed to do. Their blood only turns into a material after failing to break the dream. The only success after going through twelve batches of people.

This was why I appreciated him.

"Great, you are not as sentintal as you look." Lydia, no, I the Jester said these words with a genuine smile on my face.

Words that had no effect on Soros’ mood, as he remained unaffected by the complint.

"Now, now, don’t keep that poker face on. I didn’t just co here to test you... you know.’ A voice that Soros barely rembers flowed out of my lips, but none of it actually moved Soros that only watched from a distance. who had watched him through all his tests.

"So speak!! Why did you bring to this place?"

"Of course." With those words, my body changed, reverting to the body of Farhad, which I had taken a liking to. A face that looked sowhat similar to Maisel, and a face that finally caused a hint of reaction from Soros.

But there was no need to point these simple details out, I was just here for one purpose. "Don’t you wish to witness it? What happens when your goal is fulfilled?" I asked, making the young boy a bit confused for a while.

So he replied with a single word. "Elaborate." Showing his desire as well as curiosity over what I had to offer.

"The promises that Blue Lotus made to you, the hex on your back. Do you truly believe that would work?" I was genuinely concerned when I asked such questions. For I have known about countless fools in Blue Lotus that treat life as air just due to the mark on their back.

But unexpectedly, the body just looked at weirdly, before shaking his head. "I don’t care if it works or not."

"In truth, after so thinking. I would prefer it if they took it away. A life while being aware of this one? I would truly never be happy, these morie would be sothing akin to a burden for ."

"...."

For the first ti in my life. I found soone so fascinating.

Soone so hopeless and without any desire or any wants.

An emptiness that I can only envy.

"Then why do it? Killing that bastard.. Why do you even bother?"

Soros thought for a while, asking himself the sa question, before coming up with an absurd answer."A promise I made during my most confused period. I can’t back down."

The answer offended a bit, more so than before."Then what about the promise that you made during the day of your family’s demise?"

To tell you gods the truth, I am not enjoying this boy as much as I want. A tool that is happy with being a tool. Giving out excuses for why and why not he does sothing.

The envy I felt before turned into a bit of hate.

A promise?

He dared to say those words after coming this far?

"That promise... that is not sothing I can ever achieve anymore."

"Now, if I have answered all your questions, can I go now? I can sowhat sense that my body is dying."

When Soros spoke those words, I understood how much ti has gone by.

Yes, it was too late.

It was ti to send him back.
