Demons are a rambunctious bunch that has always fed on human desires since ti immorial. Their history and mory go back to the ti when humanity first learned to walk and with the first cry of intelligence was also the arrival of demons, who signified change more than anything.
They were the first calamity the intelligent races of this world faced and also the reason why the gods descended to aid the newly enlightened beings, giving them the fulcrum with which they were able to fight off the influences.
But that was so long ago, such history is virtually impossible to record or maintain till this point. The only reason such words are taken for granted is due to the church’s propaganda, for the truth. I was unaware of it, even with the little interaction I had with the demons, they matched the records 1:1, greedy creatures, that only wished for the tornt of all those who dared to touch their existence.
Fascinating, isn’t it?
As for why a dwarf nad Arbood claid Malidi to be a demon, well the reason for it was also simple.
"Demons are incapable of creating their domain... you." The core reason why the demons are so hungry for humanity is simple. Through siphoning their mind and souls a demon is able to strengthen his domain or birth a new one if it didn’t even possess it. Making it their only path to growth.
But due to how long it’s been since a demon ca to walk on this earth, the fear they inspired had long been forgotten, along with their strength.
"I am... sa in that aspect. For all my strength, I am incapable of creating my kingdom, a proof of flaw on the path I took." Immortal was the path where Malidi only took out imperfection and filth from his body, but he never added anything to it to fill what he had lost, making his vessel sowhat empty.
The result of this was him becoming incapable of birthing a domain. A heavy blow to his self-esteem for the mistakes he made. But no worries a century of research and understanding of the domains also gave him a way out. Which was nothing more than stealing what others had to fill in his own gap.
But he couldn’t just pick any domain for this job, he needed a perfect one that suited his taste the best. One which would help him elevate his understanding to a new level.
Which turned out to be caves of wondernt, the broken domain of a dead god that dared to touch the forbidden, wasn’t he sowhat similar? It was like a match made in heaven. However, this choice did co with so irregularities.
"A broken place needs rebuilding." He can’t accept such a broken place for his own, it would be stupid and bring harm to him. So Malidi went on to work, hoping to fix it in the coming decade, which went by as fast as him blinking an eye, summoning demons, sacrificing them, and then repeating the sa thing again and again.
He did this so much that the demons in the purgatory started to fear his existence to a certain extent. Few dared to answer his summoning calls anymore and even entirely denied his advances, though few exceptions did exist like the demon from before.
But that was it, such thods of using incomplete domains to fill in the gaps of a true godly domain was a strenuous process, these wild domains filled with human desires could barely fill the gaps in before they started to deteriorate on their own.
Making it so that he always lost one point to the healing process while adding two points to it, causing the growth pretty stagnate.
’I wish for a complete domain, a proper one.’ This is when the ssage of Jester’s clone ca, arousing his interest. Why should he touch only demons? They are lesser creatures feeding on human desires, their domains can’t compare to the ones possessed by living humans. So why not feast on it?
Which is why the whole plan started.
Arbood hearing all of this remained silent. This man was mad in his eyes, but such madness might just be his inability to understand what true genius is. And Malidi in front of him might just be one. "Where do I co into all of this? Why save ?" He asked, looking at Malidi and still not understanding what made him so special.
Well, the answer to it was pretty simple. "I seek a librarian and you seem capable enough." That’s it, there was no other reason for Malidi to pick Arbood from these people.
Well, that and the other part was the token of Arbood that Malidi already had in his hand. But such words were not made for his future bookkeeper.
He looked at the two suppressed under his might as if looking at insects. "I will let your people live... and I intend to give you a choice too Priestess, tell , what you wish for, and I will fulfill it." The subsequent process would be excruciating, and being a scholar, Malidi was not the kind to enjoy the torture of others, he detested to use of violence and preferred to keep things clean.
So once he was forced to use such ans, Malidi chose to repay those suffering under his cruelty sothing in return. He was the kind to never take anything for granted.
"I have nothing to want from a demon." The Priestess refuted, not intending to talk with Malidi at all.
Killing Malidi was impossible or so she had been made aware of, but sealing was possible, and she was even so close to it, but the Radiant Knight had to ruin it.
Which ruined the very goal of what she ca here for. So once the failure was ensured on her end, she had nothing else to do but wait for death.
That’s the most she would do at this point.
But it would be a lie to say she had no regrets or wants once death ca so close to her. More than regrets, though, she feared the disappointed faces of her congregation. But not much can be done at this point. With death will co her judgnt by the Bone, the Angel under her lord who oversees the punishnt of evil souls. And she hopes the Bone doesn’t judge her too harshly for her failure.
That’s the most she could hope for at this point.
"Foolish one, denying the only opportunity you will get in death," Malidi spoke, sighing and then turning to Arbood. "I ask you, what you wish for. Because once I am done, you will be stuck in this place for eternity, unable to die, unable to live the way you wish for. Such existence is torture in my eyes, and I don’t intend to cause such misery without giving sothing in return. So speak of it." Malidi’s tone was far kinder when talking to Arbood, who still didn’t fully understand the goal of this Professor.
But he also knew this was an opportunity. "Help our Guardian to end that Immortal Snake." Spoke with Arbood still focused on Vesta’s request. "Be a bit selfish, the knowledge I gave should be enough for her to deal with my old friend. giving a helping hand will just add more to the chaos, without actually helping the situation. So I ask again, what is it that you want."
Malidi had been aware of the true desires of this man, the anger and hate he holds for my Pet. But Malidi still acted ignorant of it and asked again. And this was not so test to see if Arbood was worthy, that was already proven long ago. This ti, Malidi truly just wanted to fulfill the wish of the servant who would beco eternal while living in this domain. Such torture requires a recompense of any kind. Even if it ant going to war with Cynark if Arbood were to request it.
But Arbood was not of such nature, born in the Lynx clan whose background was that of nomads, they never had the luxury to ever stand up for themselves and usually ca to ingrain compromise in their very being. It’s the reason they were able to retain Vekantaraman.
So, what will Arbood choose at this point, a selfish wish at that? Well, he spoke so interesting words. "This place records mories of the past, does it not?" he asked, and Malidi nodded.
"Important ones through history that affect the very future of this world, so yes." Malidi specified.
"Then was my son important enough to have a mory of his stored here?" He asked, looking at Malidi which did seem surprised. "Not to my understanding, he was far more insignificant than you might think."
"But once you beco the librarian of this place, what plants to cultivate will be up to you... including what mories you wish to record from the ti stream, which would include your son." At those words, Arbood turned a bit emotional. "Is it possible, it’s been so long?"
"You can see to it yourself. But that still doesn’t make it a request for you would be able to do it later on your own anyways. So I asked the last ti. What is it that you want."
This ti, Malidi hoped to wonder if this man would speak of Farhad’s end or not. Because Malidi would do it, he would go out and completely annihilate Farhad in body and soul, making it impossible for him to ever reincarnate, it doesn’t matter if this makes him the enemy of Jester.
But such fate for Farhad didn’t co to pass, because the third idea in Arbood’s mind was far simpler to execute. "I wish for the end of Cynark... those hypocrites." At those words, Malidi finally had a smile on his face, while I took a sigh of relief.
"As you wish my bookkeeper." It was at that point, the very domain started to shake.
