The Four Towers that were the foundation for ht’s War Fortress all belonged to the Arcane faction, each built upon one of the four basic elents of Fire, Earth, Water, and Wind. Possessing the strongest defense and strongest offense and was built by a Legendary figure who had long risen to a Daemon status, ht Wanderlust, his real na being lost in ti.
And also considered a god among the Mages.
"This grand relic stayed undefeated for centuries and survived the last days of the divine before the daemons disappeared from this world." Looking at this giant masterpiece, I couldn’t help but feel envious.
It was this thing that had caused so much misery on Brihma Continent, the reason why Cynark has maintained its supremacy for all these years.
And in a way, it has also acted as a deterrent for other nations in the neighboring continents from harboring any expansionist desires.
As for how did they do it?
It was easy. Usually, this giant Fortress would always stay at the border of Sumire, which had the backing of the Nation of Azhad, a nation whose birth was sowhat similar to the Republic of Yethel, but on a bigger scale with one stark difference.
Its rulers were the bloodthirsty tyrants and not the kind ones like Ikaros Yethel.
aning, that the fortress played an important role in keeping a dangerous nation at bay, so coming here was proof enough of how dangerous the situation was.
’Guess, they were more shocked than I had expected.’ Of course, why won’t they be, when a huge part of their industry and weapons manufacturing facilities have turned to rubble, a grave of tal and gunpowder, nothing more?
Which in my eyes was very fun to witness, such a personal perspective which was lacking when I saw it from the eyes of others till now.
As for the innocent soldiers who died during this little experint of mine?
Well, the more, the rrier. If not for a little bit of guilty consciousness along with the fact that there will be a ti when we will be exposed when the sa weapons will be used during the coming war, I would have done the test a few hours earlier, taking out a high amount of skilled labor in the process.
But that’s where the issue cos in, the international community, no matter what country it is or the powerful churches without brothers won’t look kindly to us. At least, this way, we have an excuse.

Looking at the giant town-sized fortress that covered the Planc Colony under its shadow, Amir knew what was to co.
"Such a technical marvel. Sadly, it can’t be recreated through mortal ans."
"Prince, you had almost scared for your life. Please don’t be so reckless next ti." Then arrived Burghim, with his usual courteous smile mixed with so worry, considering parts of Amir’s body were a bit burnt.
But Amir didn’t mind him at the mont and just asked. "Considering how long it took for you to arrive here, I believe you already t with Grandfather? What does he have to say about this situation?" The question Amir asked surprised Burghim for a bit, but he didn’t act ignorant this ti and just said. "I did et him, along with Archmage Black Sun... and he was angered over what he learned."
Burghim smiled, but he couldn’t hide so pain in his voice, along with the sll of blood from his body. Which Amir had noticed even before Burghim had entered the room. But he didn’t say much and acted nonchalantly towards it.
"So he learned about her? Does he wish to punish for hiding her all this ti?"
"I can’t say for certain."
"If you can’t say then take to him, I would like to have so talk face to face," Amir said, looking toward Burghim, having not forgotten the prior lies that Burghim had told him. But that was not his true reason for wishing to et with his grandfather.
His real reason was to understand what was going on. Although his parents were not here and lived lavishly in the capital, which was their reward for rearing a royal to his adulthood, Amir still treated the Colony as his ho.
Not to ntion, most of the soldiers who died during these attacks were mostly commoners.
"Then please wait, he will co and visit you soon enough. For now, he is in a eting with so powerful figures."
"Then take to the fortress."
At such a request Burghim turned silent.
"You can’t?" Amir asked, but Burghim didn’t know how to say, before sighing. "There are things that Prince doesn’t understand, considering the interest that woman showed in you, there is a high chance you are compromised in one way or another, and we can’t let any dangerous factor from entering the Fortress."
"You believe I betrayed you?" A hard question, but there was nothing that could be done. The situation was too sensitive and the fact that a weird entity who is known for ssing up with minds might be close to them made people paranoid. So as to prevent any chance of that entity climbing their fortress and learn of the details, it’s better to keep a potential risk like Amir at bay.
It’s why, although the Burghim couldn’t say much, there was a lead he could give. "... As I said, there are things that you might not understand. However, if I have to give you any information, that is to look for a figure called Marshall Varkus Maisel and his family. I can’t say more than this."
"Just what is this Rat King that you are so fearful of?" Amir couldn’t help but ask. Was he a god? A demon? Or a powerful entity that one can’t fathom?
Just what was it that made everyone so guarded?
But to his question, Burghim just laughed. "Don’t treat him as such. He is nothing great, just a kind among rats and nothing more. He survives because he hides, he is just an annoying pest for our country. So you shouldn’t worry too much about it."
"If not for the ban, I would have told you everything as well. So don’t think of him as sothing really special. It’s just the situation that is a bit special." Burghim said, looking over the horizon, in the direction those weird weapons struck from.
"We have bigger issues at hand." With those words, he left. Leaving more questions than answers for Amir.
Questions that would be easily answered if he could move at all. Which he couldn’t be, considering the war-like circumstances that made him a pri target for protection by the military and sothing else.
’This is going to be troubleso.’ Burghim gave him the question but not a way for him to find an answer.
So what was this? What was going on?
"Hemant, I want you to go and find any details about a Marshall by the na of Varkus Maisel and his family."
"Just a na, Prince?
"I am not expecting an answer, just tell what you find and that will be it."
With that done, Amir just closed his eyes and waited for his grandfather.
Not like he could do anything else anyway, his notes were in his manor, and considering what he told that Archmage before, probably in the office of his Grandfather. ’Hope you finally see so potential in my work.’ He hoped.
Unaware that his Manor had caught fire not long before the Fortress arrived in the city.
A fire that started with Amir’s study.
A fire caused by .
I couldn’t let his work gain recognition by those prudes above. They were blind to it before and now, under my interest, did they intend to steal it as well?
I already consider it mine and have stolen as much as I could and sent it to be further developed by the researchers in Yethel.
As for the genius that ca up with such interesting ideas?
He will take ti. A lot of ti considering he was bound by the thing called familial love for his fake parents and the responsibility of his grandfather.
So, so work had to be done on those two aspects before he was thrown aside by them and turned into a perfect tool for .

General Planc was the true leader of the Colony and its acting mayor, which for a person of his age was a perfect job, as he had no hope of progress on the path of grandmaster, nor did he hold any interest in earning more badges of honor than he already has.
A tired man who just wished to live in calm solitude while his employees handled the colony in his stead.
But not all dreams co true even with all the protections in place and even earning the right to house a Prince behind his walls. War still sought him, bringing the carnage the likes of which he has never seen before.
The screaming sounds of the warheads were still fresh in his mind. Including the mont General Musa, his compatriot died while facing just one of those warheads.
So it would be apt to say, he was not in the right state of mind by the ti morning arrived. And when the ht’s War Fortress appeared out of nowhere, he knew, that the peace he has pursued till now has ended.
Now, he can’t even act frustrated under the eyes of the figure that sat in front of him. "You stayed in your house while our industries were being destroyed?" A voice that appeared only in his head shook him to the core.
A voice that seed to co right through hell.
