Life is full of surprises. So of them are good, but most of the ti, they are bad.

One day, you are going to school as a regular, learning the way of Knights, and then making your regular escape attempts. The next day, a weird entity tells you that your father is going to die and you should co with him.

What else was I to do but accept his hand and co along his journey, which started with my father’s death, and finally freed from my family and responsibilities? Giving the chance I always wanted.

Which was, turning an errand boy for a bunch of criminals.

A great and enjoyable job that is hard to find in this boring world. You are always on edge, looking for potential pursuers or informants who are always eying the public for potentially dangerous individuals.

Many of these were always on as I stood out due to my age, get-up, and the weird actions I made out of inexperience.

But as ti went by, and under the teaching of that weird entity, I learned and adapted to the situation, trying to ld into the crowd and not like a bright-eyed puppy in the new world.

All in an effort to be useful to him. I wanted to be seen as useful so that he could throw into better gas of his. Fun things that he usually kept to himself.

Of course, there were losses along the way, with my fingers and my ti that was occupied with learning new things. But at the end of the day, all of that hard work was rewarded with a special bloodline that in a way was really compatible with most of my skills.

As for what the bloodline is called?

My Master never spoke of it. Nor did I care as long as I can beco better than my past self. Beco strong enough to explore the world with my own two feet and hunt the legendary monsters and even gods.

Yes, this is what one calls living a good life.

"The Bill is 3.50 Leth."

"..."

"... Where are you going... you have to pay the bill."

"Oye Dwarf... "

Oh so fun, I saw on the back, watching the owner fuming in anger from his store. He didn’t seem to rush , which made it a bit sad and boring. But those angry eyes that seed to want to devour were so enthralling to see.

"Stop!" Before I could feel sad that nothing would happen for my dine and dash, a police officer appeared after hearing the owner’s shout and after seeing my silhouettes, he did what everyone else in his position would do.

Just glared at like a demon and when I disappeared from his sight, he soon forgot about .

It was just 3.5 Leth. Not much, why would one put so much effort into pursuing a dine and dasher at all?

"But I can’t go there for at least a week."

My life has been like this since I left my ho country and ca to Yethel.

Currently living in Phokat, a small city facing the sea, but not getting much action from the sea, as it was too close to the capital, where most of the ships docked.

But this gave this small city its own charm

For one, it was peaceful, and rarely anything big happen here, which in a way sounded bad news to . But the other thing about this city was the ruins close to it where a bunch of legends were born.

I am not talking about legendary-level figures, but stories that seem too fantastical even to my ears.

Stories backed up by the fact that there would always be soone going missing in those ruins.

So interesting, ain’t it?

But enough about this city. It’s not the ruins I was here for anyway, they were just a Plus for and nothing more.

"You are here... why?" Said the weird-looking man with what is considered handso among the humans.

Nad Baldar, this man always had a curious smile on his face, which gave the creeps. So ugly, and so sweet that I almost got a toothache while looking at his face. "Ah, you see captain, I was a bit bored with the recent mission, so I wonder if you have so other job for ."

"Being bored is truly troubleso, I can feel your pain. But this is the order from above. Just do as you are told and I promise that you will be sent back to those field missions like before." Baldar spoke, showing his usual creepy smile that had turned uglier as ti had gone by.

"I was doing those things as a greenhorn, now I am properly trained and with a better bloodline. Why should I babysit a kid?"

"That kid is your age, so the reason is obvious. You are perfect for this job. No one will suspect you." Reaching this point, Baldar suddenly scoffed. "Unless you believe you are incapable of even handling such a simple job?"

"Of course I am, you should find soone else, soone better than ." His taunts might work on soone with so self-respect, but that is one thing I am lacking the most. "You yourself look around my age group in humans, they won’t find anything wrong if you were to take over my job."

"I have to manage more than just you in this whole operation."

"Coward are we."

"Crow, if you are done, why not leave and go back to your dining and dashing." As I had expected, I was thrown out of the room. They won’t listen to , and yes, it was they, as I knew that this Baldar was no more than a puppet head for that Entity.

No, I was looking at it from the wrong direction. That entity had promised fun and wonder, he should have put here for so reason, which might not be that obvious for now.

What was it?

Enough of such thoughts.

Opening my door and entering my small house, I saw my old master, just sitting in his place, staring at the Giant doll that was encased in resin.

"Master, are you awake?" I asked and with so effort, he barely moved his head to and nodded. "She didn’t blink today. I have forgotten how she used to look when she blinked."

"Master, she did blink just this morning. You probably forgot again."

My master is not right in the head at the mont, his mind has degenerated and I have fed him so lies about how his daughter was just sleeping and would sotis blink to show that she was alive.

A fact that even I was not too sure of. But as they have said, sealing her inside this coffin which looked more like a doll in a box was the best way to prevent her organs from rotting after she had gone to sleep.

This is just a long-winded way of saying that she is dead and we encased her in case to keep our promise that we made to soone else.

But whatever floats their boat, as long as the last monts of my master can be peaceful, I don’t mind much. As lies are needed for one to have a peaceful end.

Although that end would be filled with you experiencing every part of your body rot from the inside out. But that was enough. He didn’t seem to mind pain as much as on might think.

"She did?... I.. did I miss it?"

"No master... your mind is not clear it seems, you did see it and you even tried to jump out of your seat in happiness."

"Oh... I did... then good.. Good." Then with those words, the Master went silent again. There were no words needed anymore and all I needed to do was wake him up when the ti ca for dinner."

******

It was at this ti that a couple of won arrived in the city.

Both look unassuming and average. So average that they didn’t even get noticed by the officers at ports that were checking for identifications.

"Using magic so willy-nilly here. If they were to find out who we were, things might not go so clean."

"This is just a small town, good for hiding, and close enough that entering and exiting the capital would be easy."

"Perfect place to start our work."

"Hah Kass, we are in the den of the snake, if he had ingrained himself so deeply in Durum, imagine how far his roots would go in his ho country."

*****

"We are here."

"Your hotown? It looks beautiful."

"Only on the surface. Co with , there is so place we need to visit first."

"Your orphanage?"

"Yes, I used to donate most of my salary to that place, so i wish to see if its being put to good use.’
