A false face to create a falsehood. Max threw Crow’s face which he cut with his blade onto the fallen tree without a hint of emotion.

It was good that Crow was asleep, unaware of the horrors his body was experiencing and the kind that Max must have experienced himself.

Then after rubbing the balm that he crow made before, Max stuck the cow’s skin on Crow’s head, while speaking in bizarre words that were too alien for to understand.

Following this, the huge amount of mysterious aura that surrounded the two converged over Crow’s body, entering and then changing it.

Of course, this included the cow skin over his head, which slowly started to rge with his body. Twisting and turning into what Crow used to look like before.

"It’s done," Max said, feeling the transparent blade in his hand sowhat heavy and soft to the touch.

The slight connection he always had with this blade was no more, instead, he thought of the blade as an alien thing. A living thing with its own heartbeat.

’This should be enough.’

His mind was finally opened, and the non-stop nagging at the back of his head disappeared with the blade leaving his hand. There were no more voices from his master, no more voices from his conscious fighting his master’s request.

There was nothing.

Just freedom.

As for the boy below him. "Sorry." He said.

All he felt for Crow was sorry, for he knew the fate of this Knight bloodline.,

"I hope you never reach Master level, ever in your whole life." His bloodline was horrible and it was not sothing a playful god would have made. No, this bloodline was akin to thievery. Made specifically to hide and change or steal faces all the ti.

But enough was enough. He has no ti left. At most, he can live for a couple of more weeks, but that will be his limit. Even with the bloodline transfer, the latent injuries and the weakening that co after an arduous ritual are lethal at the end. Of course, this is much worse considering his Master had lived for a total of three years after his inheritance transfer.

In the case of his Master, he had not fallen into the Taboo like Max did. The mont he had felt the beckoning of the bloodline which wished to blossom in his body. To prevent any tragedies, his master had escaped to an isolated place far from the population. Who would have known, that he would et Max there and transfer his bloodline to him?

And this was around the ti when Sheva walked close to them with her rifle on her shoulder. "Is it done?"

She asked Max, who just nodded at her. "Good, then co with . Things are not so calm in the village anymore."

At those words, Max gave a deep look over Sheva, who appeared a bit sorry, then toward Crow. "Leave here Sheva, you have wasted enough of your ti while babysitting . Go have a life and take this boy with you." And then after a pause. "Tell him to never reach Master Rank. It’s best to be diocre and live longer than suffer the sa fate as mine."

Confusing words that were hard for Sheva to comprehend. Though, it’s not like she was going to bother with them anyway.

It must have sothing to do with what happened to Max and his bloodline, which she held zero interest in. But what she did care about was, of course, Max. "Planning to die here? The ones coming here won’t give you an easy death."

"I don’t deserve it anyways... I killed innocents and used their simple slights to excuse my cris. Haha... one of them was such a good guy. No, it’s too long of a story. So just go to Sheva."

"Hah, we can have this conversation another ti." Ignoring the words of Max, who was covered in blood. Sheva picked him up along with Crow and ran in the direction that Jara had told her about.

That was the exit, the closest place where she could hide from the monsters who would be coming to the village.

"Drop , don’t waste your breath here. I am a dead man anyway."

"You can die all you want, at least et your daughter first." Sheva couldn’t hold her mouth anymore, although she understood that it was cruel to speak such words when it was not even confird if Jara would keep his words. But she had to do sothing.

A cup of water to the parched throat. The current Max has co to terms with his death. To him, there is nothing he can do for his dead daughter besides leaving a seed and hope that she will be avenged. A seed that was dood to suffer the sa fate as his. But out of selfishness, he ended up doing sothing he shouldn’t have.

The guilt of which was eating away at him right this very mont.

He was really a killer in his eyes, a man who couldn’t bring any goodness to the world. A tool of death who never had any right to be happy.

In his heart, he blad it all on him. He considers that his old life and the curses of the loved ones he has killed might have been the reason. There was even sothing called Karma.

If you bring good to the world, the world will react to it in a good way. But if you do sothing bad, the world will punish you for it. ’Then punish , why my daughter? My wife?’

A deep sense of remorse where death seed to be the only exit.

And a place Sheva was once in when she was close to taking her own life.

Though Jara’s tily intervention woke her from the nightmare. He was fine and stronger than ever. Of course, not all of him was there yet. But him standing in front of her was enough to give her hope to keep on living.

Who knows, in the future he will be back as he used to be.

It was for this reason, that Sheva understood the value of hope. She knows that anything would work here. Any reason to make Max want to live again?

"Wha...t..., do .. Do you an?" He asked with struggle as he couldn’t handle the animalistic movents of Sheva who was back in her elent, just like the ti when she was a Guerilla fighting.,

"The n you worked with, were able to rescue soone who used to be your daughter. And they claid that they would let you see her, before your death."

"This.., you t with those people... no, it was a rat, so insects, I haven’t seen any of his n ever in my life."

"I don’t know anything about that. All I know, you can et your daughter as long as we survive this ordeal. So pray that I reach the hidden place in the mountains before anyone catches up to us. Otherwise, forget it." Sheva had hoped that her words would at least give the much-needed hope to Max.

But he suddenly started to struggle and said,

"No. This is wrong."

"Are you mad? Stop being a child."

"Just drop here and go... this was a mistake. I made a mistake." Words that confused her even more flowed out of Max’s mouth, but Sheva just couldn’t understand what was going on in his head.

’Wait a minute.’ She thought as a realization ca to her head.

But before she could speak. A ball of fire rushed through the forest and appeared right in front of her.

******

It hadn’t taken long for Remira to reach the sa place before eting Jara. It was easy for her to use her nose as a tracker. And then, following the direction and using her own experience to detect the frequently used path, she ca across sothing odd.

A camp, with so old clothes and rations. There was even a cycle not too far off, specifically made for a dwarven physique.

"There is a scent here." There were multiple scents in fact and Remira just picked one of them up and followed them toward a random direction that went even deeper into the forest.

’The tallest tree, there is none.’ There were no such trees that stood out. But this didn’t deter her at all. There was a reason why she didn’t depend entirely on Vegal’s description.

For one, he can lie and for the second reason, he might have been lied to. From the looks of it, Jester and him didn’t seem so close and he had too much to speak about him.

Of course, nothing is better than her nose in this case, not even bothering with the tree, she ca across it. Or at least a fallen version of it.

"A ritual?" She can sll the herbs and magic in the air, she even finds a boy’s face on the tree, which causes her to have various bad thoughts.

"I can’t waste any more ti." She had such thoughts as she traced the sll to a woman carrying two figures on her back.

"A mortal?"

Remira wondered. But then she noticed the inhuman build, her stride, and the air around this giant woman was anything but normal.

And it would seem she was carrying a Dwarf boy and a human man on her shoulders, both of whom were bleeding profusely.

Misunderstandings were normal in such cases, adding to the fact that Remira had already learned her lesson from the previous clash with Vegal. She didn’t hold back and struck her sword directly on Sheva’s head.

"DIE!!" She cried.
