The pills were nothing more than a stamina-boosting panacea that is commonly used by rcenaries during any hunt.

Closer to poison than actual dicine, excessive consumption would harm one’s body on a biological level as it sses with one’s sense of hunger, while regularly pumping the user with enough endorphins and adrenaline to keep them awake and run without pause for long intervals, while it slowly dissolved in their stomach.

Hence the rcenaries only used it in rare cases when there was no other option left and considering that they had to be ahead of the Knight and their target to set up an ambush, they had to use any advantages they could get.

Before doing that, Kareem still had to confirm the location the two were aiming toward. And as the two kept moving, he knew where they were going. It was easy to guess from the head movents of the Knight and their target. "Confird target, drink water. We will be moving toward those twin mountains."

The hunger pills as they were called, were a dangerous drug that killed any sense of hunger or even thirst in an individual’s body, and with a simple miscalculation, even Knights might die of thirst when under the effects of the drug.

It was Kareem’s job to order his n when to drink, eat and rest. But considering the distance they had to travel as well as preparations needed, it won’t be for long.

Taking a roundabout way to hide from the Radiant Knight’s gaze, he took a longer route from the straightforward path The Knight was taking, leading his n to the spot.

"Drink and eat!" He ordered, once again when he arrived on the spot, before taking out a protein bar and shoving it in his mouth, without even bothering to chew the unit.

"Boss, the terrain here seems good for ambush."

"It is, but we can’t be certain they would co from this path, go and check for so other paths if possible. We will ascertain the one they might choose or the one where all these paths might converge."

Finding the one place where they would surely co, a place that would be perfect for the ambush, was what they were looking for.

And before long, they ended up finding it.

"Are you able to carry on?" Although the question was a bizarre one to ask soone who was an undead and hence didn’t get tired easily. She still chose to ask him.

To which, Farhad can only shake his head in denial. "No issues, I did rather than hurry up a bit." He didn’t wish to waste ti any longer, the faster they reached there, the faster his Captain would be able to do her job.

He didn’t mind running, Farhad could jog for hours before even feeling a thing. But Remira shook her head and said. "We will trek at a normal pace, no need to hurry." Her reasoning was simple here.

Farhad might be stronger, faster, and more able than before. But he still had an overprotected childhood lacking any real-life experience.

Not on the battlefield, nor in this mountainous terrain. He had already struggled to jump over small obstacles and stones, almost slipping into so wet rocks.

So imagine that but magnified due to a sprint?

He would turn into a liability, a problem. And when there were obviously people hunting them down, it would also beco an opportunity for them. Which she can’t afford.

She needs Farhad in his top shape when an attack arrives because she knows that after the last ti, the next opponents she might face should be smarter and more dangerous than before.

After her experience in Durum, without her knowledge, she had lost so edge and confidence she had. Becoming much calr and able to think a few steps ahead.

Looking down on one’s enemies is one of the last things she wishes to do.

"Captain, if you don’t mind. I wish to ask you sothing." At random, Farhad’s request ca. Considering how it was night there were sounds of owls cooing in the air, causing the atmosphere in the jungle to turn eerie. Farhad can’t help but open his mouth for a talk. "It’s nothing serious or personal on your front."

Hearing those words, Remira turned to him and then asked. "Speak."

"I want to know what you think about my father." He knew a lot of things that happened in the city during his absence. The fights his father fought and the things he did before. He knew many things and most of them did let him see the father he so respected from a different perspective.

But that was all for later, for now, he planned to learn how others might perceive that great man. How his Captain Remira would see the man who had helped her for a while.

"This is the ti you thought to ask such a question?" She had spoken to Farhad about the dead Marshall, how he helped her, and how he did what he could in his position. Of course, he had disappeared for the later parts of the event, but from the differing accounts, she had learned what his fate was, and corroborated by Farhad, her understanding of the events beca clear as well.

Which in turn drove her to hunt the bastard responsible for all of this even more.

"Wish to know a bit about him, not the official rendition of it or what happened. But how he was seen by others."This question was a bit different, Farhad was not asking about what happened or how he helped her. He was asking about how she saw Marshall. Her own understanding of that person.

A question which he has asked from others, a subset of people that were close to his father, including his mother as well as his butler. All of them had flowery words to say about him, and even if his mother had so criticism, it was vague subjects like how his father barely bought any jewelry for her.

None of them were true answers, or so he had assud after learning certain details about him through the mory of Jester.

But it didn’t an there was no other option, there were always people outside the influence of the governnt who might speak the truth, not caring about the pressure from the governnt or the influence of so other party.

People that won’t hide the truth from him.

And Remira understood this, she might not know clearly why he asked such questions. But it didn’t an she won’t answer it.

"Did you know the reason why that Wraith had targeted your family?" She asked and Jester nodded, showing his understanding of the events that had transpired in the Republic of Yethel.

He had been aware of it and knew what his father had done. But he was not blinded by disgust, he understood the circumstances and how his father might be led astray due to false information provided by his superiors.

It was an assassination of a big character that led to a long war with countless deaths. A sin, unforgivable by all the victims of such war. But his father was nothing more than a gun.

A gun that was shot by the leader of Cynark. This beca the reason why he didn’t condemn his father for that choice, instead, he wondered how his life might have been if his father had ended the Jester at that mont as well.

His life must have been much different, many others might have been alive.

"Then the story can be shortened." Giving one look to Farhad’s face, which seed a bit similar to Varkus Maisel, she continued. "Even with all the flaws he had, I still respect that man. He did what was needed and gave up his life to save a family." She said pointing toward Farhad.

"He saved you and also ." She said recalling the ti when she was in the hands of Pierta’s killer. "So don’t think too much about it... I can see you might be conflicted over your mories at the mont and you might know sothing I might not, but rember, those are not your mories, high chance many of them are false. From what I understood of your father, he was an upright man."

"Thanks for answering," Farhad said with a small smile, before continuing on. Showing that her words did help her.

’But they didn’t.’ They really didn’t help much.

I had thought she might know my Father’s true face. The one he had when he killed the innocents when he had killed the Bloodheart family.

But Remira knew nothing, or she might act like she didn’t know anything.

’I... I hope she is not lying.’ I say to myself while moving ahead.

This night is a long one.

"Are these the things you hid?" There were two bracers inside the box, one having a hook attached to it while the other had a small gun.

Or so it looked like.

"Yes, did your helper say, what are these?"

"He just laughed and said that it was safe." Picking the bracer, he looked at it, seeing a small note stuck to one of the bracers.

A note that explained the function of the two.

"Hmm, what does it say?" Sheva asked, holding the other bracer in her hand before she aid it at the wall and clicked.

*Phew

Sothing escaped and struck the wall hard, causing cracks. "It really was a gun... a silent one."

"Gas powered from what it’s written on it." Then looking deeper into the bag, there were a total of 12 more mini cylinders inside it.

"The left one is for the line launcher, which will be half a cylinder after every use. While for the bullet, it takes seven uses before it’s empty."

"These things are... good. I wonder who made them."
