Max was filled with rage and anger most of which was directed towards .

’How dare he.’ He thought.

How dare I hide such information from him? All the pain and anger of his loss, which has lowered over ti, exploded again after hearing my words. He even wondered why at this mont I would ask him for this. Why would I use such important information at this point?

But none of that mattered at the mont

This was his chance, this was the mont he could finally find the true fate of his daughter. A fate he had been scared to confront or even think about. But now that he has the answer in front of him and all he has to do is reach toward it, he is not going to back down, no matter how harsh and sad the fate of his daughter might be.

Regret as he might, he is going to face it. He is going to do his best to succeed at this mission even if he has to put his life on the line.

Such anger for a loved one was beautiful. A selfless act that showed the father actually ant what he had claid till now.

He was walking right into the trap, even knowing what he might face. An aspect that I was looking forward to.

Making smile a bit, only a bit. This proved one point.

’Majarahm, you are one useful thing.’ I thought while taking the man’s true na. A na given to him by his master before his death. As for the na given to him by his family, he had long forgotten about it.

"I appreciate that you chose to agree to my stupid request."

"Shut up!!"

The city was filled with sirens as he flew toward the tro; he could feel the whole city lit as the Letzers had already called the police and inford them of the attack. But as not much ti had gone by and originally they planned to handle the situation on their own, they still were a bit late.

Not to ntion, the two Mages from the CBI were currently visiting the Sltver family, which would cause further delay in their response., not to ntion, they were in the 2nd zone of Bothal, where only the richest and most influential businessn lived. While Max was currently in one of the 3rd zone districts.

Dividing the two by a series of mountains, making it almost impossible for the Mages to appear here on ti.

One can call it Max’s luck, as his timing was almost too perfect. But sad to say, there was still a master level on his tail.

And when he was just a kiloter away from the station, I said. "It’s here." Causing Max to put up his guard while his eyes turned to that of an owl, causing his eyesight to increase in the darkness.

But no attack ca. "What is happening?" He wondered, he could neither find anything wrong with the place nor anyone here at all. And after looking around for a bit, he moved ahead, with his direction never changing one bit. While keeping an eye on everything around him.

Even the fleeting thought of my words being a lie ca into his head. A kind of disgusting joke made to play with his mind. But it was too early for him and he won’t co to conclusions so early.

The Jester’s words had always brought him only truth and questioning them at such a serious junction was dangerous.

Not to ntion, from the speed shown by the opponent that Jester spoke about he can see how fast they were and it would be harder for Max to hide from them unless he confronts them directly and impedes their way or thod of pursuing him.

It was with these thoughts that he chose to remain on this path and co here.

"Show yourself." Filled with anger, he announced loudly above the empty streets, where a few figures were dragging their heads out of the window while looking all around, wondering where this loud cry ca from.

But Max didn’t bother with these people, he kept moving while asking the enemy to co out and confront him.

He can’t lead this bastard to his safe house, he can’t afford to make such a mistake. He had to drag him out and deal with him before leaving this place.

"Co out." Finally, on his third scream, Max suddenly felt his body turn heavy and as he was mid-jump from roof to roof, he lost his balance and crashed to the ground. "Wh? What is this?" With the feeble physique he had, this simple increase in weight made his body of Max uncontrollable.

He could feel sothing invade his body, dig deeper into his bones, and try to rge with him. But his bloodline fought back, his body fought back against the invasion.

"The wall is here," I said, as from the alleyway, a figure slowly materialized from the shadows, appearing wavy and illusory, it was harder for Max to look at the features of this individual even with his dark sight.

Almost like a ghost it appeared, without body or any blood. It was sothing akin to an illusion that has materialized in reality, right in front of Max.

’A phantom?’ He thought while taking out his dagger and then aiming it at the figure, while he stood up from the ground. "So you were here?"

A smile crept up on his face, while his body, even under the imnse gravity and the invasive force in his blood, rushed toward the figure and then slashed toward it with his dagger.

But his attack hit nothing, the figure remained unhard in its place, while Max slid across the floor after failing his attack. As the gravity increased on his body the invasive force in his body turned stronger. Making him almost forget what he was doing.

"What... is this?" He wondered, feeling imnse pain in his body. Even the fact that his attack failed disappeared from his mind. He was even unaware of the fact that many such illusory bodies started to walk out of the darkness and then slowly started to move toward Max.

Each of the figures increases the weight on his body.

"This?" He never expected this kind of attack, so bizarre and unpredictable. He can feel with each increasing figure, the weight on his body increased further while his blood flow, under the increased pressure, slowed down.

Bringing him closer to death.

"Je..ster.. What is this?" He asked, but I didn’t speak. I just couldn’t.

Not now, any effort to intrude at this point would end up startling the snake, and they would learn of my existence, which is not sothing I can afford currently. So I remained silent, while Max struggled.

’I can’t lose so easily.’ He thought, feeling life slowly leaving his body. Before he dragged his body to the corner of the wall and then picked up body up a bit, while on the road not so far away, he could hear the sirens and police jeeps moving out and about.

This might be an end to his life, to his efforts, and to his revenge. Which he can’t afford. He can’t let this happen no matter what.

But at this mont, the pressure on his body was 8 tis the normal gravity, he could feel slowly losing this battle.

However the lack of any other attack from these dark figures also told Max about what he was facing.

’A directed curse.’

He thought, while barely dragging out the finger he had cut from the boy. A finger that appeared drier than before, which was not possible. aning only one thing.

’The proxy.’ Throwing it away, there was a chance he might survive. But then the words he heard from the jester will echo in his head, the fate of his daughter and the location of her body.

Words that caused him to grab the finger tighter in his grasp before his sight turned narrower and his mind blurrier and before long, he closed his eyes while leaving the words. "I... don’t... regret it."

Even during his last monts, the only person he thought about was his daughter. How she might have died and how he would never be able to exact his revenge.

A fleeting revenge that was impossible to achieve for soone in his position, soone so weak as him.

A man that was only good at running and hiding, while barely able to confront his opponents.

A weak existence with no purpose in life other than to hide.

But before the book on Max’s life can close, the dagger that was not too far from his body grew small roots from its body which slowly moved toward Max.

Roots that dug into his flesh and pierced his flesh.

"HEMGRUM! GURTUM! LAKARAMA!"

With those words, the little centipede that is in Max’s ear turns into dust.

"Finally awakened," I said, looking at the scene from the eyes of one of my minions.

It was ti.

Although a bit late, it finally happened.
