Burned were, the two children, his wife as well as the family of his brother. A brother that had disappeared on the battlefield long ago and now his family lived with Salveraz’s which consisted of over two individuals, a mother and her son.
All of them died, their bodies burned to a crisp with so signs of struggle by Salveraz’s nephew who was the only one with broken bones, as for others, it was a clean and clear death.
One can only imagine what they experienced before their life was snuffed out. Though in Fahna’s eyes, it was good that it happened. With this, the man had no chains binding him down and would wholeheartedly support her in her goal.
And she needed Salveraz’s support, she was in a foreign country without any resources at hand. Lacking the pull and authority to collect information, nor the money to afford it. Hence the reason she wished to work for this man. It’s why, even knowing what might happen, she didn’t inform Salveraz of anything, but instead forced him into a trap.
He brought this on himself, though no one will know the truth, until they dig deeper, until they find the one who planned this hit.
And for that, nothing is better than a revenge-driven detective.
But there was a problem, an obstacle in this plan. The police chief, using rational reasons had put Salveraz who only went to the hospital for so checkup, under sedation instead. Sleeping for who knows how long.
And there was a high chance his enemies would use this opportunity to off him. Because at the end of the day, A master-level Berserker bear like him was too dangerous for their goal. And from the legends she had heard from her father, she knows full well the true capabilities of Salveraz’s bloodline and the reason why he can maintain his sanity even after turning.
An ugly truth that might co useful soon enough.
First, she had to get rid of the pigs that had followed her since leaving the hospital.
Donned in casual clothes and acting nonchalant while she calmly entered her car, she turned to give them a look, before making a beautiful smile that would lt anyone’s heart. Which confused the officers for a bit. From that simple expression, they were sure that their cover was blown and she was aware of their existence.
Fahna did nothing though. There was no need to do anything, as the heads of these two n who were attempting to follow her were struck with huge force, causing them to fall creating a ruckus by the common people.
An act of aggression done by her own bodyguards who had kept an eye on her since coming to this city.
"Were you able to et him?" Her butler asked and Fahna just shook her head in denial. "But I believe you will see him soon."
With those words, the car left the hospital. While Max, who had heard the commotion of another attack by human assassins, went back ho, worried that Sheva had done sothing. As the incident was still pretty fresh. All he knew was the sounds of shooting and the story of a sniper who tried to kill a detective.
And when the term sniper ca, the face of Sheva also appeared in his head. So calling her a fool and without taking in the need for more details, he rushed to the safe house. Though got delayed again as so of the railway lines were closed off due to the incident, which was an attempt by police to encircle the criminal.
A good news in his head, as this proved that the Police had failed to apprehend the sniper.
However, at the end of the day, none of it mattered. As the mont he entered the safe house, a heavy snoring was heard in his ears.
A sound so grating, that after giving one look toward Sheva who was on the bed without any noticeable injuries, he left the house with closed eyes. ’So she lives... no, it was not her.’
He thought to himself. He didn’t believe that Sheva would be able to escape an encirclent of the Police all on her own, and if she had fought, there would be a heavy sll of gunpowder on her body and specks of dust during her escape.
But none were present, her clothes were in pristine condition, or as clean as they were in the morning, minus all the sweat.
Which ant only one thing. "Another sniper active?" He thought to himself. Currently, the city is under shock and the details of the shooting can only be learned a day after, when the journalists have done their research.
Which is much better than going there and finding the details on his own. Then his mind drifted to Sheva, who was in a deep dream, recalling the happiest mont of her life.
A dream so good that she would probably forget the weirdness that she witnessed this evening.
Here’s to hoping anyway.
*****
When the night arrived and so of the railway lines were opened once again, Fahna left her apartnt where she officially stayed.
The rest of the bodyguards were already standing guard around her house, but they failed to notice her leave. A copy of hers still remained on the back, exuding the sa mana signature that she always did.
While her real body turned ethereal and then disappeared from the scene at once. During her three years, she learned under Max, being discreet was stamped on her head. She knew the importance of never leaving any signs while making a move. And always leaving a path to fall back on if sothing goes awry.
However, after leaving Max’s tutelage, she also learned a few more things on her own. Things that Max could never hope to teach her.
Because at the end of the day, Max was a pure assassin, he never played politics or even taken with others, he was a stereotypical silent assassin. Hence being only a small part of Fahna’s life.
A small part that ca useful today was Fahna, using charms stuck to her feet and arms, she jumped on the rooftops one by one, without making any noise.
Being a mage had advantages, but being rich enough to afford charms was even more of an advantage. One could use spells and techniques that were not possible for them before and this is how Fahna mimicked the feats of a knight without much effort on her part.
With movents as smooth as flowing water her body was covered in an ethereal magic, blending her dark silhouette into night.
None of the Night patrols caught her. Even Gaitoynde, who was sipping so tea at Night didn’t notice her arrival as she approached the hospital.
’Keeping him away won’t work.’ She thought to herself. It was the 14th floor of this giant hospital, which she climbed pretty easily without any effort.
But that was it, she didn’t know the exact room where Salveraz was sleeping, she didn’t even know if he was there or not. But considering it hadn’t been even a day, the chance of them moving him so early would be low.
The very fact that the case was still fresh in the minds of the citizens would force them to not pull a fast one, they would keep their desires in check and wait for all of this to blow over, before acting.
’Fla eyes.’ With those words, the heat signatures of everyone in the hospital beca apparent to her. But as most of the rooms were air-conditioned, her eyes were not working as she wanted them to be.
But it still gave her an idea.
By matching the number of police officers in a certain area that was closed off and their position. She can sowhat ascertain where Salveraz might be kept at.
"Found it." She thought, before climbing to the direction of the room, and then she latched to the pipe next to Salveraz’s room.
Due to the security issues, rarely would one find windows in this hospital. Which finally forced Fahna to use her magic.
"Fla hand." Though the sll called for a hand, Fahna directly pierced a hole into the room, lting the concrete around her. And with a bit more of her intent behind her finger, a small jet of flas escaped from that very finger. Causing the hole to beco deeper and finally opening a finger-wide path to Salveraz’s room.
After giving one look and confirming she was in the right place. It was ti for Fahna to cause so chaos.
The chaos of a level this city hadn’t seen in a long while.
A chaos that Fahna had only ever heard in the stories of her father. The stories of the battle fought to death and the stories of a monster that never stopped killing.
A story that her father had told in a bid to scare her. But it had only ended up making her like this Uncle Salveraz even more.
And there is nothing wrong with such evil thoughts, Salveraz was one fine specin and a capable tool for my current goal.
I just hope this plan of Fahna doesn’t backfire, like so many have in my case.
