He’d found himself standing in his grandmother’s room, the familiar surroundings of her old house in the village filled him with lighter emotions. It was a relief after the barrage of passionate yet confusing feelings. mories swirled in his mind, hazy yet persistent. His past was confusing, and his present was an even bigger question mark.
Xu Feng’s thoughts flitted from one scene to another, disjointed and fragnted. First, he was in a bedroom with his lover... his lover... Xu Feng struggled to recall the na, a nagging sense of unease tugging at the edges of his consciousness. The na of the snake, his counterpart— one of his counterparts— should have been etched in his mory, yet it eluded him like a fleeting dream.
They had just shared a bed, but he couldn’t even rember the snake’s na. They weren’t always on good terms, but their fates were so intertwined, whether they were lovers or enemies in any life, they were almost always on a first-na basis. Xu Feng knew his mory was very wrong if he couldn’t even rember that much.
It was like sothing was conspiring to make him forget. This didn’t seem like a new occurrence either, it was like he had forgotten many tis before.
Death and rebirth were a constant cycle.
From the ti he’d found himself in his grandmother’s country ho, the transition felt like a journey across two different lifetis. This Xu family, his grandmother’s lineage, held a special place in his heart. Across several reincarnations, they had been an anchor, their bond unbroken by the passage of ti.
He’d lived among many Xu’s, he seed to gravitate toward their clans across space and ti, but not all families were the sa. Not all Xu Clans were as favored as this one.
With each generation, they welcod him into their fold, treating him with kindness and care. He felt most at peace with this particular family, they did their best to break his... break his... Xu Feng suddenly lost his train of thought.
He couldn’t rember what he was thinking...
...
...He liked this Xu family. It was a sha their bloodline had finally co to an end. The abundance of their harvests was a small gift he freely gave. Even with his diminished strength, the plants of the land would show him at least that much respect, a subtle reminder of the dragon’s long shadow that followed him through every existence.
They enjoyed a bit of dragon’s luck for several hundred years, spanning several dozen generations. It was as though he was reborn just in ti to say goodbye to them and end their bloodline with more blessings.
All good things must co to an end for mortals. It’s best to dote on them for as long as possible. He’d learned that many tis over.
His grandmother’s world was at a crossroads. It would either co to an end or lead to the rebirth of a new way of life.
These were all trivial mortal things.
Worlds were born, reborn, destroyed, and transford every day. There were limitless worlds, spaces, realities, and opportunities. He had been to and seen many, but he was now so tired of the never-ending cycle, he always seed to miss the key to his freedom by just a little bit.
He was sure it had to do with the person whose na he couldn’t rember...
Maybe it was related to several people— that thought felt right, but at the sa ti, it annoyed Xu Feng. He wasn’t looking for anyone to co to his rescue... but maybe he needed rescuing.
"Hah," as he let out a stuffy breath in his chest, he looked around the room with curiosity. Was it another dream, another life, a mory, or a distant future?
As Xu Feng lay lazily on the foreign bed, he took in the stunning ancient-thed room that surrounded him. The atmosphere was distinct, with intricate patterns adorning the walls and rich tapestries hanging from the ceiling. The furniture was crafted with fine materials, boasting delicate carvings and ornate designs that spoke of craftsmanship and focused intention.
Compared to the older modern room he had been in earlier, this one gave off a sense of tiless elegance. The previous room had been a blend of modernity and tradition, but in comparison, this one was history itself.
"Another mory?" Xu Feng mused, his mind drifting through the fragnted recollections of his past. It was becoming increasingly clear that he was reliving mories, each place he visited tied to soone he knew, however fleetingly.
Despite the strange situation, the appeal of the comfortable bed proved too tempting to resist. Instead of springing into action to investigate his surroundings, Xu Feng succumbed to lethargy, content to peer lazily around the room from the comfort of the bed.
The room was indeed impressive, with its lavish furnishings and impeccable décor. It seed inconceivable that anyone would be set on harming him after keeping him in such a luxurious setting.
The absence of personal touches suggested that it was a guest room, ticulously prepared for his arrival, or soone’s arrival.
With a sigh of contentnt, Xu Feng shifted into a more comfortable position, his eyelids growing heavy with drowsiness. Despite the bed’s less-than-perfect comfort, he found himself succumbing to sleep, the rhythmic sound of his breathing filling the silence of the room.
.
.
.
The touch against Xu Feng’s waist was neither too gentle nor too rough, a sensation that hovered in the realm between comfort and awareness. He lay there, reluctant to rouse from his slumber, content to drift in the haze of sleep. If he could spend eternity in this state, he would gladly do so.
’Is it the snake?’
The hands that caressed his body added to his sense of relaxation, their touch familiar and welcod. Yet, if the person desired him to awaken, they would need to use a different tactic.
If he could sleep his life away, he would likely do that. This was probably why he wasn’t banished to sleep in so cave for an eternity, it would be more of a joy than a punishnt.
A soft kiss brushed against his lips, prompting a flutter of awareness. It wasn’t the snake, Xu Feng realized, recognizing the voice that accompanied the gesture. It was a voice that compelled him to open his eyes, to et the gaze of the man before him.
He had to fight to continue "sleeping."
"FengLi, you look even more radiant today than you did last night," the man remarked, his words laced with desire.
Xu Feng remained silent for a mont, struggling between faking sleep and pouncing on the man as he contemplated the other’s words. "And why was I not just as radiant last night? You must not have seen under the moon’s glow," he teased, unable to resist the urge to tease the other man.
"Hahaha." A hearty laugh escaped the man’s lips, his joy infectious as it filled the room. Xu Feng opened his eyes, eting the gaze of the man who stood before him.
mories flooded his mind like a rushing river, revealing the truth of their connection in this life and giving a hazy outline of the ones before.
Yes, this was another existence, and Xu Feng finally understood who he was and who the handso dragon in front of him was— Brother Jian, his dual cultivation partner and the man he wanted to mate with for life.
Like him, this dragon was drawn to this barren continent with good intentions. They were dragons of higher realms out to experience the world, and for one reason or another, found themselves in this small continent ready to fix the damage to the world’s core.
There was a small lower-level dragon clan in this world, but they weren’t strong enough to deal with even a small fracture to a world’s core, not to ntion damage so extensive.
Honestly, he and Brother Jian were both out of their league when it ca to fixing this damage. But it could be expected, they were young dragons, and cockiness was a given. From two separate missions to a shared mission to a night together after so good wine, and they "decided" to beco dual cultivation partners.
The idiot of a man in front of him thought they simply had good "compatibility," but he hadn’t realized the secret behind Xu Feng— no his na was now FengLi— FengLi’s dragon lineage. Either way, Brother Jian was attracted by the benefits he received the next day, and FengLi was too enthralled to quit while he was ahead.
So they beca dual cultivation partners. Brother Jian would continue to grow in his cultivation, while FengLi got... well he got a good night’s workout. And in due ti, he would capture this one’s heart!
As far as the world’s core went, they would have to think of so sort of counterasure to keep the balance until elders from Brother Jian’s or another clan could repair it. FengLi didn’t have a clan, only a single relative who was no older than him, his help was limited.
