Xu Feng felt like the golden goose about to lay two golden eggs. That pretty much sumd up his entire situation as simply and flowery as possible.

Hopefully, there would be no giant and no bean stalk in the adventures that followed. For now, the egg laying part was the most important.

The small reception room in Blooming Courtyard served as the designated space for the consultations with the doctors. As Xuan Yang led the way, Xu Feng couldn’t shake the uncertainty clouding his thoughts.

The recent activity of the children within his belly sparked both concern and curiosity. The exchange of energy between them and their father and papa—Xu Feng had titled the n himself, Xuan Yang as father and Xuan Jian as papa, and it just made the most sense to him—seed to help.

Their unique bloodlines added to the confusion, but they would go with any advice the doctors gave them. And luckily, the advice was mostly unanimous.

"The madam has passed their sixth moon, the children will be due any mont." The old man giving the news was more confident this ti, than during his last visit to the Nanshan Estate.

The last ti, he’d been escorted in a rental carriage from the city of Dinlu, so he assud the family must be from the small city of Dinlu. But he like the other doctors who sat blindfolded with him in the waiting area ca from various villages, so near Dinlu, others closer to Beyin.

No one knew for sure which young master had gotten a prostitute, or a commoners bride pregnant. At the very least, the pay was higher than they could receive as village doctors, and they were treated fairly.

Being abducted was not ideal, but the conditions were in their favor.

Little did they know all their guesses were wrong. The city closest to Nanshan was in fact Yilin, not Dinlu or Beyin. Xuan Jian was just being overly cautious when selecting the four doctors.

From the mont they entered the rented carriages, they were blindfolded until they eventually departed the carriages once more and returned to their place of capture.

It may seem excessive to so, but it wasn’t sothing a noble or soone with enough wealth and a guilty conscious would do. Gold was might in Donghua and most of Dongzhou.

With every doctor’s diagnosis, there were slight variations and lots of deliberation on their part, but it was unanimous that Xu Feng was ready to lay his golden eggs at any minute.

There was no official due date for him to keep in mind, instead, he needed to be at the ready.

Xu Feng sat in the comfortable seat, a lingering sense of discomfort scattering with the withdrawal of the final doctor’s hands.

Having his pulse read evoked so strange fear in Xu Feng. He didn’t want a doctor to see sothing he shouldn’t. Sothing about his heritage and demon beast background, anything that might set him apart from the average ger in Donghua.

The man stroked his beard, a contemplative expression etched on his face, as if mining for additional insights from the pulse reading.

Beside Xu Feng, Xuan Yang had remained standing throughout the entire examination and all the ones before it. A nervous energy radiating from him. His anxiety seed to surpass even Xu Feng’s, prompting him to restrain impulsive questions that threatened to spill out.

On the other hand, Xuan Jian, seated calmly and imposingly next to Xu Feng, had taken on a more assertive role. Throughout the session, he had been the one to ask clarifying questions to the blindfolded doctors, his typically calming deanor edged with a subtle intensity.

Now, as the stillness lingered, he chose to break the quiet.

"So the... madam and our children are healthy? They are consistent and stable for a ger at the close of their sixth month?" Xuan Jian’s inquiry, though standard, carried a weight of anticipation.

This was the final doctor, they only needed to stay prepared for Xu Feng’s labor. But unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, this doctor’s answer was a bit different. Less standard than those before him.

As the doctors gathered his thoughts behind his blindfold, he fidgeted slightly before telling the truth of his reading.

"The madam is clearly at their sixth month, entering a seventh month." The old man seed to choose his words wisely, wealthy rchants and nobility were often unpredictable with their actions. He didn’t want to jeopardize the mother and children, but his own life was most important.

"If not for the presence of the children, I could barely tell they were with child or had ever been with child..." The old man seed certain of his statent even with the lackluster delivery, "It’s as though the madam’s body is healing too fast."

"Healing too fast? Or is it like I’m healing too well?" Xu Feng blurted out before catching himself.

He was supposed to be quiet and let Xuan Jian do the talking. He bopped himself against his lips before looking toward his partners coyly. Surprisingly neither seed bothered by his voicing his questions, they were more interested in the doctor’s response.

"Both. Healing too quickly as well as too well. The madam is healing to a state before pregnancy. I’ve never seen this before." The doctor was in complete awe as he continued on.

"For those without proper experience, it would seem as though the madam was only healing well and was well taken care of, but it is more than that. Even the children are ford too well. They seem near ready to break their shells, but not quite ready..."

’How could they be ready to break their shells, but not quite ready?’ Xu Feng was getting more and more confused. Wouldn’t his children need a long ti to accumulate enough energy to fully develop and then break their shells?

The statents from one of the previous doctors was still ringing in Xu Feng’s ears as he digested the new information. ’The madam and the children are in good health, showing characteristics within the expected range for this stage of pregnancy.’ Was that true? Or were the previous doctor’s to nervous?

Was there sothing else Xu Feng was missing?

Xuan Yang’s shoulders visibly relaxed, and a flicker of relief passed through his eyes. Xu Feng, though maintaining a composed exterior, could sense a subtle shift in the atmosphere. The realization that the impending arrival of the eggs was imminent settled upon him, and he glanced between the two n at his side, finding their expressions equally unreadable.

Too well was better than not well enough.

"The children were well nourished by the madam." Xuan Jian added one sentence, but it made the doctor more and more excited as he nodded, seemingly like he was the one pregnant with the two children.

"The madam is very...skilled at nurturing children." ’And nurturing themselves’ the three lovers added silently.

The doctor might not understand, but they all seed to be on the sa track. Xu Feng was like an elixir for plants, even spiritual plants flourished under his care. They—Xuan Jian, Xuan Yang, Xu Hu Zhe, and Bai Mo—had all been nourished by Xu Feng.

It had sothing to do with his bloodline, not immortal bloodline, but his demon beast heritage. It wouldn’t be strange for him to be over nurturing their children. They were developing fast, and were growing at a strange rate under his care.

Xu Feng or better yet Xu Zeng had been poisoned by his step mother, and should have died several tis over from the dose found in Xu Feng’s blood (before he was married to Xuan Yang). Even at that ti, the dose was lethal enough to at least make him infertile, but Xu Feng had slowly recovered despite all odds.

The doctor whom Xuan Jian had arranged to stay in Budding Courtyard for ergency purposes had to be switched at the last minute. The final doctor, Doctor Lau, was given an additional paynt of 50 silver taels, to take his place.

The silver ca directly from Xu Feng’s space, he wasn’t at all hesitant about spending silver now. This doctor was clearly sharp. On both of his visits to Nanshan Estate, he’d been forthcoming with information. Despite his fear, he clearly enjoyed his profession.

If Xu Feng intended to live a peaceful life in Dongzhou, he would like to make Doctor Lau his official doctor without a second thought.

Xu Feng could spend money like it was water, but only on things he deed necessary. A mont ago, his goal was saving silver and gold for his children, but now, he wanted to make sure the children received the best care possible.

While his body was healing well, and the children were developing quickly, they were children of his blood and hatching them would likely still be a difficult task.

He wouldn’t even consider hatching them the way he and Xu Zeng had been hatched—opening up rifts in space wasn’t a good idea, it would only be a last choice.
