So people were still living a young master’s life while Xu Feng the so called spendthrift seed to be the one with more financial concerns. How were they inviting both a midwife and a doctor???
Did people do that when pregnant? He’d heard of a midwife, but that was when the labor began right?
Honestly, he didn’t fear so much for their safety. He’d seen their abilities. While the alien looking boors, he’d seen with Bai Mo still haunted his waking dreams, it was hard to imagine anything making Xuan Jian or Xuan Yang cower in fear.
They might even fight dinosaurs bravely...
He needed to see a doctor?
He would gladly see one to check on the progress of his pregnancy, but did they need to keep one hostage in the estate?
Fine, they needed a midwife to birth their eggs. It was obvious Xu Feng never had eggs before, he had no experience or real opinions on this. He was a first ti dad and a transplant—sort of—in this world.
Life was important but so was a legacy for his children, right?
"Life cos first," There was no wavering or compromise in Xuan Jian’s voice, and Xu Feng didn’t have the nerve to look into Xuan Yang’s eyes. Instead, he could feel a wave of emotion coming from the Xuan young master he didn’t want to face.
"Fine." Xu Feng agreed, staying silent, but not offering the currency he’d just tucked away into his space.
The two n seed to ’miss’ this response and continued their conversation, ironing out the fine details.
If a midwife wasn’t booked early, it would be nearly impossible to book one at this ti. Spring was a packed ti for childbirth, and a midwife for a woman and a ger were two separate occupations.
Gers were rarer, and the gers who beca midwives even more so. This was tricky and sothing Xu Feng hadn’t taken into consideration. Luckily Xuan Jian had.
They weren’t expecting a child even just a month ago, but as soon as Xu Feng’s pregnancy was revealed, Xuan Jian had been searching for midwives. Ones with good reputation and discretion.
One had already been booked a couple of weeks prior. With such late notice, Xu Feng didn’t want to ask the cost, but Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang’s conversation really had his veins pulsing and tears forming in his eyes all at the sa ti.
There were two midwives booked from neighboring cities and a third on standby much closer. When asked if he needed more gold by Xuan Yang, Xu Feng learned that the gold and silver he got from Xuan Jian’s hunts really were chump change.
Each midwife was given a tael of gold—100 taels of silver for the one on standby and for each doctor that had been kidnapped during this entire ordeal. The cost for their discretion and to reserve the midwives ti was high. But, Xu Feng could relax knowing that the week to two week period advised by the doctor when he could go into labor, soone would be on standby.
Xu Feng was relieved by his husbands’ extravagant ways, but the little pointed stares coming from Xuan Yang was making him a bit uncomfortable.
"I’m sorry," He finally gave in, "The health of the children..." Xu Feng peeped at the sharp gaze of Xuan Yang before really giving up on his high horse, "...my health, cos before silver and gold."
It was embarrassing to admit out loud, but not only did Xuan Yang finally relax his pointed stares, Xuan Jian also seed to let out a breath of air, his shoulders relaxing.
Xu Feng couldn’t help but wonder if he really was so unreasonable. Were they so concerned about him?
If they could co up with even more gold than what was reserved for the doctors and midwives, plus the other expenses the two had racked up for the upcoming children, he shouldn’t worry about them being able to provide for their children. Even the Nanshan Estate should be able to be maintained by them much easier than he could currently.
That landmine was finally put to rest, but the sexual tension seems to rise with every new topic. It wasn’t overwhelming like earlier in their union and directly after his wedding night, but it was still a nagging desire Xu Feng felt.
He tried to break the serious mood, and redirect his thoughts.
"When I have succeeded in delivering these two troublemaking snakes, I deserve so very dedicated service." He unabashedly pointed at the area in need of service.
He was still pregnant, and could be as shaless as he wanted...if it didn’t involve silver...
"Snakes?" Xuan Yang asked, rolling his eyes at the rest of what the perverted ger was suggesting.
"Hahah," Xuan Jian was more welcoming to the ideas of service and snake cubs. "I will personally service our young snake mother enthusiastically."
Both n have seen how Xu Feng’s libido had dropped after his pregnancy had been discovered, to how it had grown the last few days.
It seed nearly unbearable at night if he didn’t pass out from exhaustion of the day. Xu Feng could nap so days, but at others he felt uncomfortable, and nauseous when he laid flat, only sleeping after tiring himself out.
There were no consistent patterns with him and his pregnancy. It was quite annoying. He didn’t know what to avoid and what not to avoid. There was no one present to guide him, and tell him what pregnancies were like in their family—no mother, dad, aunt, no one.
It was a lonely experience that dragged down his mood if he lingered too much on such thoughts.
Xuan Yang changed the subject after getting so laughter out of Xu Feng, and they moved to a more comfortable seating arrangent in the greenhouse. The air here was purer and Xu Feng always felt more relaxed in his space.
So much so that he began to drift off to sleep even with an ever present loneliness lingering around him.
When Lady Xuan was brought up, Xu Feng was finally able to pull himself back from his internal isolation, and propped himself up against Xuan Jian, he wouldn’t be taking a nap today.
Even in his emotional state, the pulsing of his gold ring and the chill of the other silver ring seed to reassure him and let him know he was not alone. If the worst ca to pass, he was loved by both n fiercely and he wouldn’t regret this ti.
If nothing else, he hoped Xu Zeng would co back to this world.
He might as well get as much done as possible and clear the air as much as it could be cleared, right?
Xu Feng needed to tell his lovers about Xu Zeng at the very least, and prepare Xu Hu Zhe to keep a back asure. The Dong Ancestor. There was still the Dong Ancestor he hadn’t seen in weeks.
’I have a brother. I know you know of us.’ Was that really the way to go about that conversation?
Even if he blurted out his secrets, it would be better than not sharing them with his lovers, right? But when was the right ti? It certainly wasn’t now as they discussed Lady Xuan, and the Xuan family.
Would it be the right ti later in the evening? Or should he wait until after he saw the doctor the next morning?
Both Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang would feel more relaxed after hearing about their children’s progress and safety, then he would unleash more worries on their heads...
Xuan Yang watched the clearly deflated ger across from him, deflated and lost in thoughts, weighed down by sothing or many things.
Xu Feng’s wandering mind wasn’t new, it was also well known that he didn’t enjoy any of his doctor visits, but it seed like there was much more on his lover’s mind. Seeing the usually feisty ger more and more deflated with ti Xuan Yang took action.
"Do you disagree?" There was no response to Xuan Yang’s question, and Xuan Jian knew the question wasn’t directed at him. A mont later, Xu Feng finally felt the gazes of the two n squarely on himself.
"Hmm?" He asked uninterested.
"Do you believe we should do sothing different? Should I not return to the main house after the children are born?" As the questions seed to sink in for Xu Feng, Xuan Yang continued on.
"The best way to keep them from disturbing our ho during your confinent is if I go to them. I know Lady Xuan will truly co if we do not respond. I don’t see any other option at this stage."
"We just need to stall ti..." Xu Feng didn’t really ask a question, nor was he making a clear statent. It was as though he was thinking aloud, his focus neither here nor there.
But still, sohow, his suggestion shocked both n.
"Why can’t we tell them I’m pregnant, but the fetus is unstable? We could just say, ’we didn’t want to say anything until the fetus was stable.’" He frowned a bit before continuing.
"You’re paying the doctors so much, just have one or more of them stamp their seal on a letter. Would that be hard? Then after a few weeks, tell them we lost the child, and I’m in confinent."
