The street was eerily silent, a stark contrast to the chaos that had erupted just monts ago. The remnants of the previous debacle still lingered in the air, though.

While it appeared that most onlookers had dispersed to avoid getting caught in the crossfire or the aftermath, Xu Feng couldn’t shake the feeling that there were still lingering spectators lurking nearby, hoping for more juicy gossip but unwilling to risk being drawn into the unfolding drama.

The once bustling street, now devoid of the earlier commotion, stretched out before them, its cobblestones polished smooth by the passage of countless feet. Lanterns lining the thoroughfare cast a soft, warm glow, adding a touch of tranquility to the otherwise tense atmosphere.

Sun Ming Hua’s two companions had vanished without a trace, abandoning him to face the consequences of his actions alone.

The Sun family might be on the rise, thanks to his older brother’s talents (Sun Ming), but they were nowhere near a position to challenge or provoke the mighty Xuan family, especially not when the Xuan family had soone like Xuan Yang, a scholarly prodigy whose dedication to academic excellence was the stuff of legends.

In the space that remained, there were only seven individuals: Xu Feng, Xuan Jian, Xuan Yang, Xu Hu Zhe, Xu Si, Xu San, and a shell shocked Sun Ming Hua. The drama had culminated in this tense standoff, and the aftermath hung heavily in the air.

Xu Feng surveyed the surroundings, his gaze shifting slowly before settling on the ger who had initiated this entire debacle. His voice was asured and firm as he issued a warning, "Next ti, I won’t be so kind. Take to heart the kindness shown by both the Xu and Xuan families. If there’s a next ti, I won’t hesitate to take legal action against you for false allegations."

Xuan Yang added his voice, his touch reassuring as he rubbed Xu Feng’s waist. "The Sun family won’t be spared either. If it weren’t for Feng Feng’s patience and kindness, I would have responded differently after the Xuicai exam incident, and I won’t hold back in the future."

The words carried a weight that sent shivers down Sun Ming Hua’s spine. He had underestimated the Xuan family’s influence and protection of this "ugly" ger.

The scandal he had tried to exploit wasn’t discussed outside of the Xuicai exam, and he now understood why. His attempt to tarnish Xuan Yang’s reputation had backfired spectacularly.

It now suddenly made sense why the scandal wasn’t spoken of outside of the Xuicai exam. Even when he ntioned it to others from the actual exam, everyone seed uncomfortable. Brother Pei wouldn’t even et with him...

Sun Ming Hua struggled to process the situation, ignoring Xuan Yang’s warning as he contemplated the audacious idea forming in his mind. Could he, a mber of the Sun family, aspire to beco Xuan Yang’s concubine? Could he ascend to such heights and leave his current life behind?

As he pushed aside these wild thoughts, Sun Ming Hua directed his venomous glare at Xu Feng, who had beco the root of his humiliation. The "ugly" ger had disrupted his plans, and he couldn’t accept that this manly, tall, and pretentious ger had seemingly won Xuan Yang’s affection.

It was because of this ugly, pretentious ger, he had made a bad impression of Xuan Yang. The young master of the Xuan family could be his pass to a higher standard of life.

If he could be Xuan Yang’s concubine...maybe even reclaim Xu Feng’s title—did the ugly ger even have a title? Or was he just another lower concubine? As Sun Ming Hua restrained the venom and plastered the innocent appearance back in place, he completely ignored the second husband.

The idea was too far fetched, and he couldn’t co up with an answer imdiately.

Instead, he was focused in taking what he could from this ugly ger—no one believed him, but he knew silver hair wasn’t possible. How could one have silver hair and a mole so deep red?

The immortal bloodlines were fading with every generation, and normal nobles and high ranking families were encroaching on the power of the crown and nobility in Donghua.

There were monsters like Xuan Yang and a few children of noble immortal bloodline families that were held in high regard, but none had silver hair... What would make this ugly, manly, tall, and pretentious ger be so lucky? And be so lucky to marry Xuan Yang?

Xu Feng noticed the fleeting glare on Sun Ming Hua’s face, even as the latter concealed his true emotions beneath a mask of indifference and fragility. He couldn’t ignore the fact that Sun Ming Hua harbored deep seated resentnt and envy, which made him a potential enemy rather than a re acquaintance.

A sigh escaped Xu Feng’s lips, and he reached up to rub his temples, seeking solace in the simple act of touch.

Without warning, Xuan Yang leaned in and pressed a tender kiss to his "bride’s" forehead. Xu Feng’s breath caught in his throat as he felt the warmth of the kiss and the comforting presence of his husband.

The intimate gesture shattered the icy shield that had enveloped him, and for a brief mont, he was lost in the enchanting scene they had created together. The warmth overshadows the cold.

As Xuan Yang rubbed soothingly at Xu Feng, a deep and deep look glead in his eyes. It was an expression that held a complex mix of emotions, a combination of remorse and an unwavering protective instinct. Xu Feng had always known that his first husband possessed a strong sense of justice, but there had always been an impenetrable, icy barrier that separated them emotionally.

Even during their most intimate monts, Xuan Yang often appeared more fractured and emotionally distant than anyone Xu Feng had ever encountered. He seed like one of those mysterious ice princes from modern dramas, his deanor exuding an inhumanly cold aura.

But the words concealed within Xuan Yang’s eyes now unveiled a different truth. It was a truth that touched Xu Feng deeply, making him realize that he occupied a significant place in this ice prince’s heart.

He wouldn’t judge Xuan Yang for his icy detachnt; perhaps it was the result of childhood trauma or simply a part of his personality. Either way, it was clear that he was loved and cherished, and that realization was more than enough for Xu Feng.
