"She isn’t usually a friendly cat, even with the regulars." The woman ntioned.

"Midna? What an odd na." Violet answered.

"A young worker nad her after so fairy in a video ga from the 90’s." the woman responded telling Violet the na’s backstory.

"She’s the one I want." Violet stated.

"Are you sure?" The woman asked.

"Yes, I knew it when I saw her and clearly, she knew it too." Violet said smiling. She felt so pleased to get the one thing she really wanted and the only thing she actually asked for.

A kitten.

"Let’s get her and go back to the party. We have people, specifically you, waiting for us." Ash ntioned.

"Yes. Okay." Violet answered. Her smile was as bright as a full moon. Leaving the cat café with a new kitten and so coffee they head back to the party.

"Thank you so much, Ash, this is truly the best birthday present ever." Violet was feeling beyond grateful he’s beco so considerate.

They talked the ride back and as they pulled up a new sense of dread settled in. What was going to be like inside the manor. Will there be blood on the floor, or will Riley still be in a torture session? Will the guest be mad at them for leaving? Violet had so many questions swirling around in her head, feeding her anxiety.

Ash reaches over putting his hand on her thigh with reassurance "It’ll be fine, I promise. If anything, it’ll be your friends that are upset with how long you’ve been gone when they ca here specifically for you."

"That’s not as reassuring as you think it is." Violet laughed a little.

"Maybe, it’s not but it got a laugh out of you, and I think that counts for sothing." Ash teased.

"Co on, let’s go." Ash said getting out of the car. He walked around to the passenger seat opening the door and offering her a hand.

"I need to change! I can’t go back looking like this!" Violet said suddenly rembering that she had super casual clothes on.

"It’s your party, Violet, you can dress however you want." Ash countered.

Violet grabbed her bag anyways and they both headed inside.

Upon entering the room quieted and looked directly at Ash and Violet.

"where there have you been mi jia?" Rosa yelled bulldozing her way through the crowd, "Do you know how worried I’ve been?"

"I’m sorry, but look what Ash gave ?" Violet said holding up the kitten for all to see "Her na is Midna, we went to pick her up from a cat café."

"She’s real cute, but don’t you dare change the subject." Rosa snapped. "You can’t just disappear without a word to anyone?"

"I know I’m sorry, it just beco too much watch Riley be tortured like that. I couldn’t stand feeling sorry for him." Violet confessed.

"Really?" Rosa was skeptical but it was believable given the kind of person Violet was.

"Violet, darling I am so deeply sorry about upsetting you on your birthday." Lilith said as she approached them. "I have removed Riley from the premises."

"It’s okay, I appreciate your sentint. I know you ant well" Violet said trying to be forgiving. But the experience was so fresh and raw for her, she wasn’t quite ready to talk about what happened.

"I need to go check on my friends outside." Violet excused herself from Lilith.

Ash followed behind her like a shadow. Rosa ran quickly catching as Violet hurried outside.

"Amanda, I’m so sorry I there was a ss inside and then Ash took to pick up her" Violet said holding up the kitten again. "Her nas Midna."

"I’m just glad you’re okay you were gone for a long ti, you know?" Amanda said "but your new kitten is adorable." Amanda tried reaching out for the kitten, only to be t with a swat and a hiss.

"The lady said she wasn’t friendly to anyone, except ." Violet rubbed her hand down the kittens back repeatedly, attempting to sooth the kitten from Amanda’s attempt at affection.

Oliver and Jeremy ca over to introduce themselves to Violet’s friends, joining them in sitting outside under the moonlight.

Oliver finding Amanda pretty attracted, did what he does best and that was flirt with her.

Amanda couldn’t believe such a handso man was paying attention to her even in the slightest. Not many people gave her notice when standing next to Violet. Which most girls would get jealous and envious of Violet’s beauty and golden heart. But, no, not Amanda, she loved having such a beautiful best friend and in fact she often boasted about it. Amanda and Oliver hit it off, Violet, Ash, Rosa, and Jeremy sit and watch as Oliver spit his ga and used his charisma to wrap Amanda in an intoxicating idea.

Amanda wasn’t as naive as Violet, but was not immune to a vampires charm. They were, after all, designed to attract and distract. Making humans easy prey.

Those things have changed since the end of an era built on horror stories.

"Oliver you better not break my best friend’s heart, I’ll end you." Violet said her eyes throwing daggers Oliver’s way.

"I promise not to be shitty to my best friends, best friend." Oliver said crossing his heart like a child.

"You’re too much" Rosa rolled her eyes, but a smile was slightly hidden, a smile only Violet and Jeremy noticed.

"Excuse you, but I am just enough, thank you." Oliver teased acting like he is offended by Rosa’s comnt.

"As if, there’s not enough won in the world to satisfy you. You’re a playboy." Rosa joked.

The group laughed. The brothers started to see this humans as more than just trash at the bottom of societies social pyramid, but as sothing worth more.

The party was buzzing with entertainnt and excitent. People were enjoying the food and each other’s company. Things were going smoothly until so unexpected guests showed up to crash the party.

"I am truly disappointed, did no one think to invite the neighboring shifter pack? I’m hurt."
