Violet went straight to Odette’s room. Outside the door she could hear three voices conversing.
As she was about to knock Delilah yelled "Co in Aunt Violet."
Delilah was the only, besides their daughter, that could use their informal titles any ti. Ash was especially hard for people who neglected his title. Especially his brothers.
"Hello children, would you mind if I have so ti alone with my daughter." Violet looked at Delilah and then Kalvin and smiled sweetly.
Always the perfect lady, calm, gentle, composed. Even though Violet’s mind was a jumbled ss in turmoil.
Violet crosses the room; she was still in the dress she wore at the party and sohow still moved with all the regal grace of a queen.
"I’m so sorry I haven’t co to see you. But I ca as soon as I could." Violet cried sitting next to Odette on her bed, pulling her in for a relieving hug.
Violet fed from Odette and Odette fed from her mother, exchanging each other’s magical energy helped soothe them both. Violet who has been high strung for almost 24 hours felt tired and relaxed, and like her mother, for the first ti since last night she didn’t feel weighed down by her emotional burdens. The bond Violet felt with her daughter was deep. She wasn’t a possessive person, unlike Ash. But Violet felt very possessive and protective over Odette.
This was why the lie she held in was killing her. It was against her nature, and yet she’d go against her core values to protect her daughter.
"I know mom, Delilah told , you were cleaning up my ss." Odette frowned, her sadness wasn’t as powerful as it was before, she could thank her mother for that, but still her heart weighed heavy.
Violet lifted her daughters chin delicately looking into her beautiful crimson eyes. And with all the tenderness the world has to offer she said "No, you didn’t make a ss dear, the girls who handed you such a despicable gift, they left such a big ss."
Violet held her Odette’s teary gaze before closing her eyes and kissing her daughter’s forehead.
"I want you to know, I’m proud of your abilities and I’m not scared of you, you are power in flesh, a fierce fire draped in velvet. And I couldn’t be more blessed to have a daughter like you."
Odette whimpered quietly in Violets arms. And Violet rubbed her back. Reassuring her daughter and providing her a shoulder to crumble into.
Her feelings raw and unfiltered.
Really letting herself sob, letting it all hit her, and letting her mother relieve her of her pain.
"Want to watch Evil Dead Rise?" Violet asked.
One thing the two won shared was their love of horror movies, though Violet found the older classics to be dull and disliked the whole black and white bit. She preferred color movies, things with jump scares.
"You always know the ways to my heart. I’ll get the remote." She said.
Violet had the servants bring snacks. They huddled up in Odette’s bed and watched the movie together holding each other for comfort, sleep finding both of them quickly.
They woke to Ash knocking at the door.
"Co in" Violet yelled to the door.
Ash stepped in and chuckled at the sight before him.
His two favorite won snuggled on the bed with bags of chips and candy wrappers littering the bed, their hair disheveled and even a little drool clung to Odette’s chin.
"We will leave at nightfall. How are you, my little princess?" Ash asked walking over to a seat in her sitting area.
"Mom helped, I’m feeling better now." Odette answered.
"Good, when we go back ho your training will begin again, your mother will find a strong magic wielder to work with you on your growing abilities. You will maintain the sa combat schedule; we will just tweak the current routine to include your new abilities." Ash inford her of the expectations when they return ho.
"Understood, father." Odette felt like she could look forward to that sense of normalcy, people fear her, well now, she’d be sothing to fear. Her mother was right. She was an unstoppable force born of light and dark or strength and power. She would be the storm that wrecked those who crossed her.
Never again would Odette allow what happened last night, to repeat itself.
"Pack up and go through you presents, donate whatever you got that you don’t care for to that orphanage you go to with your mother." Ash instructed.
"Yes, father." Odette said with respect.
"Ash, relax, you’re so uptight right now. We’ll get it done. You go rest, you look like you haven’t slept in days." Violet insisted.
Ash nodded at his wife and left without another word.
Ash was never a man of many words.
Violet and Odette could walk in sunlight, because they had warm blood. Unlike the other purebloods, they could do daylight, with cloud coverage, but the UV would give them one serious sunburn if they spent ti in the sunlight. Cloudy days were the only days they could spend outside. Today was not a cloudy day. It was a cloudy one.
Together the two won would open Odette’s gifts and donate what they could.
Uncle Jeremy and Tia Rosa bought her 6 new dresses and 3 pairs of shoes. All the newer Victorian style doll dresses. She smiled to herself. Her uncle always knew the best way to dress her. He had an eye for fashion.
Violet was big on being better to those who have less than you and Odette was too, despite the wall she built around her heart, it would never keep out innocent children.
This one was an orphanage for supernatural kids and closely related humans. This was the only one in Bucharest that also accepted rogue shifter children. Which Violet kept as a secret.
Shifter children here were probably the only shifters Odette would tolerate. Her fathers prejudice rubbed off on her.
The orphanage was well funded and well taken care of. Though Violet donated to the other human orphanages, this was the one that got both of the royal’s attention.
The building was well kept and lively. The sound of children’s laughter could be heard from outside the door. Violet and Odette looked at each other and smiled.
This was exactly where they needed to be.
