The journey to the Lionhart Estate passed in tense silence. Raphael maintained a constant healing aura around Klaus's stretcher, while Alexandra kept vigil beside them. Kalix had assigned a full honor guard—twelve of White Lion's elite fighters forming a protective formation around the dical transport.

As they approached the sprawling estate, Alexandra felt a strange mixture of relief and apprehension. Even after her years in White Lion, the Lionhart family seat still inspired awe—ancient stone architecture spreading across acres of manicured grounds, towers reaching skyward like silent sentinels. At its center stood the main residence, a fortress-palace that had withstood centuries of wars and upheavals.

Her eyes were drawn to the reception awaiting them in the main courtyard. Hundreds of servants and guards lined the approach, standing at perfect attention. At their head, a figure Alexandra recognized imdiately—her grandfather, Roman Lionhart himself, the Ice Monarch of the North, ruler of the Rikxia Empire and one of the Seven Monarchs of Runiya.

The patriarch's expression remained impassive as the griffons landed, but the temperature around him seed to drop noticeably. Behind him stood several other family mbers and officials—Alexandra noted her aunt Yenova among them, her usual confident deanor subdued.

As servants rushed forward to receive Klaus's stretcher, Roman approached Raphael directly, ignoring protocol and pleasantries.

"How bad?" The question contained volus in just two words.

"Critical," Raphael answered with equal brevity. "His consciousness is fragnted, possibly lost entirely. The entity that possessed him—"

"Not here," Roman cut him off, glancing at the assembled crowd. "Bring him to the Frost Chamber imdiately."

Alexandra moved to follow as they carried Klaus toward the main residence. A guard began to step forward to direct her elsewhere, but halted at a sharp look from Roman. Despite her years away serving in White Lion, she remained Roman Lionhart's granddaughter. None would dare bar her path in her own family ho.

The Frost Chamber was exactly as Alexandra rembered from childhood—a forbidden yet fascinating place she had glimpsed only twice before. Located deep within the palace's central tower, the circular room was lined with pale blue crystal that seed to pulse with inner light. The air inside felt strangely charged, as if saturated with suspended energy. At the room's center stood a raised platform of white stone, surrounded by runic inscriptions so ancient she couldn't begin to decipher them.

"Place him there," Raphael directed the servants carrying Klaus's stretcher. "Then leave us. All of you."

The servants complied imdiately, backing out of the chamber with bowed heads. Only Roman, Raphael, and Alexandra remained, gathered around Klaus's motionless form.

"Explain," Roman commanded once the massive doors had sealed shut.

Raphael gestured to Alexandra. "She witnessed everything. Tell your grandfather what happened."

Once more, Alexandra recounted the events at Northwatch, speaking directly to the Lionhart patriarch whose ice-blue gaze never wavered from her face. When she described Gluttony's appearance and power, Roman's expression darkened perceptibly. When she ntioned how the entity had redirected the Eternal Rift before consuming everything, including Northwatch itself, his eyes widened fractionally—the most emotion she had seen him display.

"You're absolutely certain he called himself Gluttony?" Roman asked when she had finished.

"Yes, Grandfather," Alexandra confird. "And he seed to recognize the Duke as a 'servant of the Opposition,' whatever that ans."

Roman and Raphael exchanged a significant look, so unspoken understanding passing between them.

"Can you heal him?" Roman asked, turning back to Raphael.

The healer approached the platform, his hands hovering above Klaus's still form. White light emanated from his palms, seeping into Klaus's body like liquid moonlight.

"His physical form can be restored," Raphael said after a long mont. "But his consciousness... that's beyond even my abilities. Sothing has shattered it, scattered the fragnts across dinsions I cannot access."

Roman's jaw tightened. "Then he remains a vessel without its occupant."

"Not quite," Raphael corrected. "There are... echoes. Fragnts that remained when Gluttony departed. Like shards of a broken mirror, each reflecting a tiny portion of the whole."

"Can those fragnts be reassembled?" Alexandra asked, unable to remain silent. "Is there any way to bring him back, Father?"

Both n turned to her, expressions softening slightly at the concern in her voice. Raphael reached out, squeezing her shoulder gently.

"Perhaps," he said. "But it would require ti and resources beyond conventional healing. The Frost Chamber will stabilize his condition and prevent further degradation, but true recovery..." He shook his head. "I cannot promise it."

"Then begin the stabilization," Roman ordered. "I'll summon the council. The continent must be inford of what's happened—the Eternal Rift's destruction will have far-reaching consequences."

As Raphael initiated a complex sequence of healing techniques, the runes surrounding the platform activated, bathing Klaus in cold blue light. His silver hair seed to glow under the illumination, the faded rune on his palm briefly pulsing in response before settling once more.

Roman turned to leave, then paused, looking back at Alexandra. "You've done the Lionhart na proud, granddaughter. Few would have survived what you endured. Fewer still would have carried family across a wasteland with no hope of rescue."

The acknowledgnt, delivered in his characteristically detached tone, was nonetheless the highest praise Alexandra could imagine receiving from the Empire's patriarch.

"Thank you, Grandfather," she replied formally. "But I only did what was necessary. Klaus... he saved us all."

Roman studied her for a mont longer, sothing unreadable passing behind his ice-blue eyes. "Perhaps," he said finally. "Or perhaps he has rely exchanged one catastrophe for another."

With those cryptic words, he departed, leaving Alexandra and Raphael alone with Klaus in the softly humming Frost Chamber. Outside, the sun was setting over the Lionhart Estate, casting long shadows across grounds where servants moved with hushed efficiency, preparing for the arrival of dignitaries and council mbers.

Alexandra settled into a chair beside the healing platform, her father working tirelessly nearby, his healing techniques growing increasingly complex as night fell. Neither spoke much, both focused entirely on the silver-haired boy who had confronted an ancient evil and erged—if he had erged at all—fundantally changed.

In the Annex Mansion across the estate grounds, a small black dragon continued its mournful keening. The sound carried on the night wind, haunting and otherworldly—a lant for sothing precious that had been lost, a connection severed but not forgotten.
