Joanna had planned to get off the bed afterward and walk back to her room. It was the plan she had before her gaze fell on the face of the man that slept next to her.

A few seconds had passed with her gaze roaming the sleeping man’s face. Then, instead of executing her initial plan, as if not enough at what was captured by her puffy eyes, she ended up turning her body completely to lie on her side and face him, who seed to sleep very peacefully, looking like he was not aware of the danger that lurked around.

Instead of executing her initial plan, as if it were not enough to see what was captured by her eyes, she ended up turning her body completely to lie on her side and face him, who seed to sleep very peacefully, looking like he was not aware of the danger that lurked around.

She was very late in waking up anyway, as ti had passed the breakfast ti that routinely had by her family, so there was no need to be in a hurry to start the day. Aside from that, she felt that her body was really worn out and sore all over. All she wanted to do at the mont was to have a rest the whole day without doing or thinking of anything.

Joanna stared at the man’s sleeping face deliberately and hugged the hem of the blanket that covered her body and also the man beside her. She did not know when he pulled the blanket up to cover their bodies, as what she rembered was that before she went into a deep sleep, the blanket was still neatly folded and placed under their feet. The warmth that blanketed her body last night was the warmth that was emanated from his body and the heat that was spread from the fla on the fireplace.

Finding that the blanket did not cover his body properly, Joanna carefully put his hand that previously rested on her waist under the blanket. As for his other hand, she could not do anything to get it covered as it was stretched and positioned above her head. The last thing she wanted to happen was to awake him from his peaceful slumber. She then pulled the blanket up until it covered his shoulders.

Feeling satisfied at what she had done, Joanna again hugged the hem of the blanket that was on her chest and moved her eyes from the V-shaped hairline on Canillas’ forehead to a few strands of his wavy dark brown hair that rested on his cheek. Having her eyes rested on that point, Joanna felt her hand itchy.

Pondering for a brief mont, Joanna reached out her itchy hand and waved it before his sleeping face. After making sure that there was no sign of Canillas being awake, she carefully removed the strands of hair from his face and tucked them behind his ear. Now, she could see his face without any hindrance.

Subconsciously, a smile was ford on her face, but it gradually disappeared when the thought of how many won, aside from Clara de Lorn, had been attracted to him so far ca across her mind.

But it did not take long for Joanna to realize that it was inevitably normal for others to succumb to one’s beauty after all.

With that thought, Joanna took in every detail of the features of Canillas’ face that she had never truly done before. This mont was the first ti she studied his face thoroughly, like how she read every word that was written on the book that hooked her and was interesting enough to make her want to know what the ending would be.

By looking closely, she could see more clearly the thick eyebrows that adorned his striking green eyes, which were now closed. And what made it appealing in her eyes was the beauty mark in between that she had actually noticed when his face was in close proximity with hers. Being captivated enough by his beauty mark, Joanna brought his eyes to move toward his thick and long eyelashes, where the shadow cast on his cheeks.

As her observation resud toward his high bridge and straight nose, her eyes did not move anywhere else when they had reached the lips that had kissed hers more than once in two nights, and it was the sa lips that not only had tortured hers but also showered her with sweet nothings that made her heart dance yet unknowingly wrench at the sa ti.

’Who are you?’ Joanna questioned in her mind.

’Why have you worked very hard to stay by my side and make willing to stay by your side?’ She questioned more.

’Was it really because of love?’ Joanna recalled the unforeseen confession of love that had made her whole being tremble.

’What was love actually?’

Love of a family, she believed that she knew about that. To her, it was what her father had shown to her brother and her since they were born up to the mont she was now breathing as a married woman. But love between a man and a woman who were initially strangers and had no blood relationship, Joanna had always wondered how that could happen. She even pondered if that kind of love really existed.

However, if she was skeptical about love between a man and a woman, it could only an that she denied the love that was shared between her father and her mother. Why did her father not remarry if the love for her mother did not exist? Why did he look in pain every ti the topic about her mother was brought up by others who talked to him, though he had tried to conceal it with the smile that he played on his lips?

Love. It was a word that she had read multiple tis in the romance storybooks that she collected since she was a teenager. She would not lie that her heart fluttered every ti she read how lovely the relationship between the characters that were described fleshly by the authors of the book. She even squealed under the blanket when the dose of romance was too much to bear for her poor heart.

When it ca to the tragedy, she would feel heartbroken and be in tornting sorrow, particularly when the love between the main or the supporting characters was shattered, unable to unite in the end. As she felt that sorrow, she would not hesitate to badmouth the authors of the stories for being so an and cruel.

Yet at the sa ti, she always wondered how co the male lead fell in love with the female lead or the other way around despite the heart-touching storyline that was plotted by the authors. Even love at first sight. How co they fell easily in love with the person that they just t for the first ti? They were basically a stranger, weren’t they?
