’When it is changed, the aning will also change. It is no longer the sa, although the term is the sa.’

It was a simple word, yet it bore deep aning. It was the impression Canillas perceived when he heard those words delivered through her soft voice.

It had never co to his mind, even for the slightest, that that kind of deep perspective about the wedding ring he gave for their marriage was coming from her—a lady who he thought would never accept and wear things that ca from him, especially those that were related to their marriage. Thus, Canillas could not describe how much joy flooded warmly into his heart at the mont.

He admitted that his reaction toward his marriage was considered uncommon or exaggerated, not only by himself but also by others who might know about it, although it was only a trace possibility for others to know as he had never shared his private matters with others but himself.

At that ti, even now, he, himself, was not sure why he beca so impassioned to welco her as his wife, even preparing the wedding ring for her, before he received a reply from Terra about him settling his choice on her as his wife.

Generally, the groom would wait for the bride to arrive at his residence before ordering a wedding ring so that it would fit the bride’s finger.

The only answer he could give to himself about that sort of peculiar action was that it was an enthusiasm that was generated by his curiosity about her, who had caused restlessness in his heart and mind since his eyes laid on her na that was written among the many nas on that parchnt. And it was an eagerness to see her in person as soon as possible.

He was also not worried about preparing the wedding ring even before hearing any news from Terra because he was certain that his proposal to Joanna de Lara would not be rejected. It was what King Bram of Archess promised him—that the lady he chose would definitely beco his wife.

It was because of that as well that he was confident that Joanna de Lara would beco his wife, and preparing a wedding ring for her soon or later would be the sa. Hence, he just ordered the wedding ring, using his mother’s ring as the asurent, based on the brisk consideration that won’s fingers would not be much different in size.

If it was not fit on her finger, he would have the fit one. It was his thought at the ti. Thankfully, it was indeed not too much different in size, just from the amount of thread she used to make it fit on her finger. But still, it was not a sight to behold for Canillas.

There was no satisfaction he felt at what he was currently seeing, despite the awareness that the probability of the ring not fitting existed, just from the way he hastily prepared the ring for her to wear.

He wanted to provide sothing perfect for her. Not because she was a noble lady or a duke’s daughter. Not because he wanted to capture many eyes to value what he gave her, praising the polished jewelry that adorned her finger.

Not even because he wanted to capture her heart with the luxury he tried to provide for her, because he was aware that it was nothing to be compared with what she had as the de Lara.

Overall, it was simply because he wanted to give her what he personally thought was best for her. Because she was his wife, the only lady who would give him company for the rest of his life.

Thus, based on what was best in his version, Canillas wanted Joanna to wear a wedding ring with no other things being part of it that would conceal its true beauty and perfection.

It might be a plain ring for others’ eyes, but in his eyes, it was a beautiful ring.

And at the mont, there was no word he could utter to describe the joy that whirled inside him once he caught sight of the wedding ring, which he personally chose for her but had hesitantly given to her, shining beautifully on her finger.

The joy swelled in his heart more when the ring that was not fit for her finger was still there, adorning her finger. She did not throw it away. She kept it instead, even refusing to change it with the fit one because she surprisingly had her own perspective that gave heartwarming aning to the loose ring.

Because of that, at the mont, Canillas wanted to brush aside the reason why she let the ring be on her finger, although it sparked his curiosity.

He still rembered when he revealed the wedding ring to her in the carriage the day before. For the first ti in his life, he did not dare to put his hopes up. He did not dare to think that she would accept, less wearing the ring that symbolized their union in the marriage once he revealed it to her.

And he felt that he had made the right decision to keep his hopes very low, to the point of being undetectable. If he had even a sliver of higher hope at that ti, he would think that the hope was bleak.

How could he not think of that when he witnessed her form both of her hands into a ball and keep it resting on her lap when he reached out his hands, intending to put the ring on her finger?

For Canillas, it was a clear gesture of refusal, although she did not say blatantly that she did not want to accept the ring. She did not even utter a word to respond to him. She just stayed in silence, focusing her gaze on the ring that he held between his thumb and index fingers.

Because of that response alone, he refrained from telling her about the bracelet that he had prepared for her birthday gift on the sa day he ordered the wedding ring.

If she rejected their wedding ring, what was the birthday gift ant for her? It was Canillas’ thought that day.

Therefore, he just put the bracelet with the ring in the pouch, letting her find it herself and decide what to do with those items, as he admitted that he preferred not to know what she would do with what he gave her wholeheartedly.

But now, all the worry he had all this ti since he t her in person disappeared when he saw not only the ring that was on her finger but also the bracelet that was beautifully wrapped around her delicate wrist.

Once again, he brushed off the curiosity that surged more in his mind about why she accepted and put on the two jewelries he gave her.

Had she finally accepted him as her husband? Was it because of guilt and compassion? Canillas wanted to ask her, but he chose to keep that question to himself.

He preferred to find the answer himself in this matter, as it was easier to do than receive an answer that perhaps was not the truth, because he knew her well. She would likely not be able to give a clear answer to this matter because it was still hard for her to open up and express her feelings about him and their marriage.

Hence, he just wanted to believe one thing as the answer to his curiosity for now. She wore their wedding ring because she was Joanna von Rodega, Canillas von Rodega’s wife.

Feeling the softness of her hand for the first ti, as there was no barrier for him to be skin-to-skin with her, Canillas brought his thumb to stroke the bracelet on her delicate wrist.

Completely agreeing with her to keep the initial aning of their wedding ring that she was wearing, Canillas brought up another matter that sward in his heart as well at the mont.

"I will give the birthday gift directly to you on your next birthday. If you want sothing as your birthday gift, don’t hesitate to let know. I will give it to you. But of course, if it is affordable to ," he calmly and gleefully said, not forgetting to underlie logic, no matter how much he wanted to reward her for anything she asked for.

He had planned to give her the birthday gift for the first ti himself once she arrived at his mansion. But who ever thought that he could not get to see her once he returned from the battlefield that he had desperately expected to end soon?

It had never happened to him to feel so desperate to return ho as soon as possible during the battle. But because he could not make that happen, as the Battle of Delsh that he had expected to end soon went arduous, he despised Calburn kingdom the most among all the enemies he had fought.

They had disturbed the mont of his marriage, making him unable to welco his wife for the first ti at that ti. Further than that, because of them, she was lonely in his mansion, based on her claim.

Because of Calburn as well, she got mad at him, returned to her maiden ho, and asked for a marriage annulnt.

Spring had passed, and he missed the mont to gift her himself for the first ti. The regret was still there, lingering inside him, unable to forget, as ti once passed would never co back. Lost ti would never be found again.

But he was relieved to see her wearing the birthday gift this fall, although he gave it to her in a discreet way instead of a direct one. Nonetheless, just like he had said to her, he would make sure that he would gift her directly, not only delivering it with his own hands but also reciting birthday wishes himself on her next birthday.

Canillas decided with full determination. And a smile was displayed on his face when she responded to him with a warm smile that showed off her dimples.

A determination that he would only carry out for his warm-hearted wife, who allowed him to behold such a beautiful sight that he would inscribe forever in his mind.
