The answer was always there, right in front of him. Yet he was the one who was blind enough not to recognize it.
"Lord Yun..." Bai Yunxian’s voice was emotional as he looked up at Yun Shu with teary eyes.
"Hmm?" Yun Shu made a humming sound as she looked at Bai Yunxian, smiling, "What is it?"
"Thanks for taking care of ."
He truly was thankful for everything Yun Shu did for him, and will do for the future.
However, that’s not where the story ends.
Yun Shu has helped him, which gave him an opportunity, a turning point in his life. And Bai Yunxian had no intention to waste it.
This ti, it wouldn’t be only Yun Shu helping him. Rather, Bai Yunxian wanted to stand by this man’s side by side, with his head held up proudly.
He will make sure to bring a smile to this person’s face, a smile that cos only for him, a pride that he was a wonderful and amazing life partner.
Maybe, if he did well, Yun Shu wouldn’t want to let him go?
Even if it was a small wish of Bai Yunxian, he really wanted it to co true, from the bottom of his heart.
Yun Shu stares back at him with deep, yet hazy eyes, her eyes closed after a long ti as she planted a kiss on Bai Yunxian’s forehead without further alert, making him freeze on the spot.
"There is no need to thank . To tell you the truth, taking care of you is the easiest thing in the world." Yun Shu nuzzled him again, "It’s like taking care of a cute kitty, you make so happy... I’m willing to take care of you your whole life."
Yun Shu runs her hand through Bai Yunxian’s hair, her touch tender, while her eyes seem unfocused, "You deserve to be loved and cherished, to be taken care of. And I’m willing to give you just that, no matter what..."
"...", Bai Yunxian went silent once again.
Yun Shu, as if could feel the emotions swirling through his heart, holds him even tighter, like a safe and sound cocoon around him. "You are very precious, you know that? Honestly, if you were not here, I wouldn’t be where I am today. It’s all thanks to you for giving such a gift, Xian xian. I appreciate it, really."
Even if Bai Yunxian wouldn’t be able to understand, Yun Shu’s words were true. For a nine to five worker like her who had no ho to return to, this world was indeed a gift for Yun Shu that she cherished very much, that she was willing to take all the risk so they can reach a happy ending safely.
"Xian Xian..."
Bai Yunxian heard Yun Shu’s drowsy, yet affectionate call, answering softly, "Yes, My Lord?"
Bai Yunxian didn’t expect the next question to co, which left him in a shock.

Bai Yunxian’s eyes turn tender as he sees Yun Shu mumble sothing in her sleep, which brings a smile on his face. He wasn’t aware of what Yun Shu dreamt of, but he wished for her to have a sweet dream.
As Yun Shu’s body relaxes, her hold on Bai Yunxian’s body loosens, but instead of taking the chance to slip away, Bai Yunxian pulls her over his lap, running his fingers on her hair gently.
The n in black that were present were already kneeling, not daring to look up at their lord as they reported him.
"My Lord, it seems that the Emperor plans to make you an envoy leading the Martial Artist troop to the East. And His Lordship Yun also agreed to the plan."
"I see, well. It’s fine since Lord Yun wishes for to go, I’ll proceed with it, anything else?" Bai Yunxian’s fingers didn’t stop from stroking Yun Shu’s hair, while his gaze, his voice was soft and tender for her, it was cold and rciless for others, enough to send shivers down their spine.
The n in black didn’t know why their Master was so obsessed with the Yun lad, but they didn’t have any wish to lose their life early on either. So, no one really cared or complained about Bai Yunxian spending his ti with Yun Shu, not even the Elders who usually nags him for every little thing.
"My Lord, about the mission..." The man who looked like the leader of the gang spoke up, however, watching Bai Yunxian’s gesture which told him to shut up made him stop midway.
"Postpone it. I already sent words to the Elders, there is nothing more for us to talk about. Leave."
Bai Yunxian’s words were absolute, and the man seed to have understood that he wouldn’t change his mind, thus they bowed to him again before disappearing into thin air.
Bai Yunxian’s face broke into a smile as he looked at Yun Shu, poking her face playfully, "Little thing, you seduce by coming ho so late at night, yet you already made arrangents for to leave? So heartless..."
Yun Shu was unresponsive and restless on his lap, having her fair share of sleep. Bai Yunxian couldn’t help but chuckle when he saw her frowning.
"Rember this debt, I’ll make sure to give it back to you once we return."
As he said, Bai Yunxian leaned down close to her face, his lips lingering an inch away from hers, but he could feel the hot breath coming from her nose.
As he observes her face from a close distance, Bai Yunxian feels a hint of possessiveness in his heart, staring at her openly. He tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, as the earring faltered slightly.
Those earrings Yun Shu always wore were exactly the sa as his eyes, a pair of ruby earrings. Bai Yunxian also used a pair of the sa set of earring, though Yun Shu gave them to him to hide his gender, as a pair of artifacts.
The pair Yun Shu used does not have such effects, they are just your normal earrings, not any kind of artifact or anything.
At least that’s what Bai Yunxian knew.
If he took off her earrings that night, he would’ve discovered sothing he never thought of for once.
He probably would’ve gone crazy...
He would be gone from the Capital for a while, in the anti, what if so scoundrel were to catch his attention?
If that were to happen, would he look at him like the way he used to?
Never.
Bai Yunxian was certain of that.
"Husband, what should I do to claim you to be mine?" Bai Yunxian whispered as his eyes lingered on her cherry colored lips, not leaving for a long ti before he closed in.

Next day morning,
Yun Shu was ready to go for the Palace, but it took a while for Bai Yunxian to dress up. After waking up this morning, Yun Shu discovered Bai Yunxian who was sleeping soundly in her arms, not bothered being close to her at all.
Her fingers automatically shifted to her ears, to feel that the earrings were in place as she breathed a sigh of relief. No wonder he was so comfortable sleeping in her arms, which brought a smile to her face.
Do you think she didn’t rember anything from last night?
Of course she did.
Even the n in black reporting him, his refusal on a task... to the kiss...
Well, she does rember very well. And that’s why it was hard for her to act normal in the morning when she felt her face beco hot after seeing him wake up, all the mories from last night rushing in together.
But Yun Shu played it cool quite well and was able to successfully eliminate the upcoming disaster, though she still had doubts on his rejecting the task.
’What was so important that all of them were protesting to start the work?’
Though Yun Shu didn’t know what the task was, it made her worried for so reason.
