Chapter 88: Torn Between Two Lovers

Zach was restless the whole day. He wanted to double-check if Keira was alright but he was hesitating.

’Was I too rude? Did I say it too harsh?’ He kept recalling how he had delivered and conveyed his point of view at Keira.

He went out of the room and walked in the hallway, heading towards Keira’s room but stopped halfway.

Then he sighed and walked again but when he was almost a ter away from Keira’s door he stopped again.

’Go back, Zack!’ He scolded himself so he turned around to go back but then he was startled to see Keira smiling at him.

"Are you perhaps going to check on ?" She asked, looking amused.

Zach answered but a bit stuttering, "No, I was going to grab dinner."

Keira laughed and said, "But there’s nowhere to grab dinner there just a fire exit if you continue further. The elevator is on the other side, General."

"Oh yeah, right, I was in thoughts so I guess I lost track... I’ll go ahead then," Zach mumbled as he started walking past Keira.

"General Zach!" Keira burst out that made Zach stop and turn around to Keira.

She was smiling at him, it was her usual warm and sweet smile that was very pleasant to look at.

"I haven’t had dinner yet, how about we have dinner together?" Keira said directly and Zach nodded.

They were about to enter the elevator, but when it opened, both were startled to see who were inside.

It was Keira’s parents with Jeru. Zach imdiately greeted the elders and Jeru.

"Mom, why are you here?" Keira asked.

Mrs. Chan arched an eyebrow and said, "Why am I here? Get in and we will have dinner together."

Keira coughed and quickly recovered so she said, "I an, you did not tell

you will visit."

Keira walked inside the elevator and pulled Zach inside too.

Then she continued, "I saw General Lim in the hallway so I asked him to accompany

for dinner."

"That’s why we are here so we can grab dinner. Jeru wanted to visit too. Let’s all eat dinner then," interrupted her father and Keira nodded to Jeru.

Mrs. Chan felt the cold atmosphere inside the elevator.

She couldn’t help but stare at the backs of two n while Keira was in between them, then she looked at her husband who shrugged his shoulders at her.

The elevator opened and both n held Keira’s arms, Zach on the right while Jeru on the left.

’This is an awkward scene.’ Mrs. Chan mused as she anticipated what her daughter would do but then Xander was astoundingly right on ti.

"You boys let go of her arms. Do you plan to rip them off?! Co here Keira," he hissed as he gently pulled Keira out of the elevator.

"Xander, co join us, we are going to have dinner. You should lead us to the best restaurant inside, so we can have a good dinner," Field Marshal Chan quickly said when Xander greeted the elders.

Xander looked at his watch and smiled, "Sure, Uncle."

"What’s this? Torn between two lovers scene?" Xander whispered.

Keira rolled her eyes on him and murmured, "Shut up! I’m not torn at all."

They were all settled inside the restaurant and Field Marshal Chan ordered the food.

"When will you be discharged, Keira?" Jeru asked smiling.

"Maybe after two or three days, right, Dr. Yang?" Keira said as she smiled at Xander.

"Yeah, right, but I’m considering to discharge you tomorrow since I think you’re quite alright now," Xander answered simply.

Keira pursed her lips while Field Marshal Chan interrupted and said, "Discharge her tomorrow, Xander, if she is already well. I don’t see the point of her staying any longer because she will miss a lot in the training. I think she has already served the purpose of staying here."

"Yes, Uncle, Keira has absolutely done it, so I will discharge her tomorrow. I think staying here will make her sick with another disease..." said Xander who was obviously hinting at sothing that Keira and Field Marshal knew.

Keira narrowed her eyes as she threw daggers with her gaze at Xander.

The latter just laughed and changed the topic.

"So both of you are Generals. Wow, the youngest Generals in our country. That’s so nice... Old Madam Liu, your grandmother, is really popular here," Xander said teasingly to Jeru.

"Yeah, I know. Grandma is quite strict and intimidating." Jeru defensively declared with a smile.

Xander laughed and said, "I like your Grandma, especially her criticism. It’s helping

on how to improve the service of our hospitals further."

Then he looked at Field Marshal Chan and comnted, "I think Keira will get tad only by Old Madam Liu..."

"Stop, or I’ll spread your secret worldwide!" Keira hissed at Xander irritably.

Xander face paled and murmured with at twitched mouth, "You wouldn’t dare!"

Mrs. Chan shook her head and scolded the two.

"You two, stop, what are you? Can’t you see we have two guests here so stop bantering!" Said Mrs. Chan with a creased forehead.

These two often forgot they were with others, especially when they were bantering. She and her husband were used to it, but there were other people with them right now. What would these two n think?!

"I’m so sorry... These two cousins are always like that." Mrs. Chan said with an apologetic smile to Zach and Jeru.

"It’s okay, Ma’am. So Keira and Dr. Yang are cousins. It’s good to see the closeness of the family." Zach comnted who seed to suddenly be in a good mood.

"Yes, Xander’s dad is my brother," explained Mrs. Chan.

Xander’s brow arched, seeing the sudden smile that curved on Zach’s face, he mused, ’This bastard, is he so happy that Keira is blood-related to ?’

He could definitely tell that the General liked Keira Chan but he wouldn’t disclose that to his hard-headed, playful and cunning cousin.

"So who among these Generals is Keira’s man?" Asked Xander mischievously, not sparing a glance to Keira’s flaring expression.

"Stop it really! Or I will curse you to be single forever. You’re making both of them uncomfortable." Keira said in annoyance because she noticed how both Zach and Jeru reddened because of embarrassnt.

Mrs. Chan glared at her husband to stop Xander, but based on her husband’s grin, he was obviously enjoying the show.

So she secretly pinched his arm.

"Aww!" Said Field Marshal Chan but then quickly straightened up and said, "Alright, stop already, Xander, my two n here are not used to your kind of jokes. We, soldiers, are always serious, so jokes like yours might not be in our cup of tea. Here is the food, just in ti, let’s eat."

Field Marshal Chan smiled at Zach and Jeru and the two answered with an understanding nod and smile.

’Crazy!’ Keira relayed that word to Xander with her glare while the latter glared back as if saying, ’You’re crazier, cuz!’

Keira sighed, she lost an opportunity to eat with Zach alone, but it’s okay since she still was having dinner with him like this. She felt happy...
