Chapter 256: Recipe From The Heart
"Wow... I’m so full!" Senior Liu remarked while he had a glass of wine with Jeru on the balcony. His daughter-in-law had prepared a lot, and he enjoyed every single dish she had made for him. She was even better than his cook.
"You’re such a lucky man to have a wife who’s great at cooking like Thea, son!" he added as he took a sip of his wine.
Jeru smiled as he looked up into the night sky and murmured, "Yeah, I guess so."
Senior Liu creased his forehead and looked at his son, as he stated, "What do you an, you guess so? I’m telling you, yes, you are! Very lucky, indeed!"
Jeru laughed. Thea had won his father over that evening because she had accurately hit his father’s weak spot, which was his stomach. "The way to get Senior Liu’s approval is through his stomach, indeed!" Jeru jested to which Senior Liu responded with a hearty laugh.
Jeru blew out his cheeks after he drank his wine.
Because of his father’s early arrival, his kiss with Thea was interrupted, and they did not have the chance to talk about it.
He wanted to apologize because he didn’t want Thea to think badly of him, but his father had never left them alone in the kitchen. He had instead served as an avid comntator and taster to all of Thea’s dishes.
"Hmm, I wonder if I’ll be getting a grandson or granddaughter?" Senior Liu wondered in excitent, to which Jeru grinned.
"Well, we need to wait for that, dad. But any genders will do as long as my baby will co out healthy," Jeru asserted. Senior Liu observed Jeru keenly. He could positively tell that his son was thrilled with joy at that mont.
During dinner, Senior Liu had noted that Jeru and Thea seed to respect and adore each other. They were beaming at each other, and he could feel that love was in the air. Senior Liu was delighted to see it. But he also knew how his son was. Jeru grew up lacking warmth and attention. So he might still need so guidance on how to express himself well.
"Son, do you know what the most important thing in a relationship is? It’s to have mutual feelings for each other and to let your partner know how you feel about them. If I may offer you so words of advice, you should be vocal about your true feelings to your wife. Don’t just show it with action. You also need to say it. Demonstrating it with action combined with words, is still the best way..." Senior Liu advised.
Jeru felt a quiet contentnt spread through him. It was the first ti he and his dad had a great ti like this. Bantering, laughing together and talking earnestly, like a true father and son.
Growing up, he rarely had this kind of mont with his dad. Senior Liu had always been busy with the family business and seldom spent ti with his son. That was why Jeru had always wanted to excel in everything, to get his father’s attention. He used to be frustrated at Zach and hated him because Zach was continuously a step ahead of him.
Senior Liu noticed Jeru’s sudden silence. He touched Jeru’s shoulder and gently squeezed it, before he apologized, "I’m sorry, son. I know I’ve lacked a lot as a father to you. So, please forgive ..."
Jeru looked at his father and gave him a soft smile.
The two were startled by Thea’s appearance with a plate of mixed fruits. She had insisted on being left alone in the kitchen to do the dishes, so her father-in-law and Jeru could have a sweet alone ti and chat.
"The moon is shining so bright tonight," remarked Thea as she looked up to the sky. Her father-in-law’s countenance and affection had managed to warm her heart. He even insisted that she called him ’Dad’.
"By the way, dad, in case you want to eat anything, don’t hesitate to call , alright? I will prepare it for you. Anything you want. It will be a recipe from the heart!" Thea cheerfully offered.
Senior Liu let out a cackle of laughter because it was what he had said to her a while ago. That her food tasted so good because her recipes ca from the heart.
"Dear, shall I open up a restaurant for you? In case you’re tired of anchoring and would love to be a Chef. I will sponsor you," suggested Senior Liu, but Jeru quickly interrupted, "Dad, I’m her husband. If she wants to open up a restaurant in the future, then I will be the one to sponsor her."
Thea laughed at the two and said, "Don’t bother, please, because I can open up a restaurant myself..."
She looked at Jeru and said, "Your wife...
