Chapter 160: Not Yet Finished
It had been two days now since Zach left, and Keira was monitoring him through her father despite her busy schedule and exhausting days; running every now and then at different places for her reporting.
She took a little ti out during her work and called her father to inquire about Zach’s well being. But before she could even ask anything, she was startled when her father congratulated her with her marriage.
"Good thing my son-in-law knows how to pay respect to his elders. He apologized to
for getting married to you in a rush that day before he went back. You brat, I have been waiting since then to see if you would open the topic to us. But it’s been two days already! Were you even planning to tell us that you have got married?" complained Field Marshal Chan from the other end of the line.
It was a good thing that Zach was really a great son-in-law. He told the Field Marshal everything that happened and apologized several tis for getting married to Keira without them knowing. However, Zach had promised him that as soon as their mission was completed, he would imdiately arrange everything for a grand wedding.
Keira laughed and said, "Of course, I would have told you and Mom. It’s just that I was too occupied with work lately. It simply slipped out of my mind. I will visit you and mom tonight, so please don’t get mad. Let
eat dinner there instead and besides, it’s your fault dad... had you not given that task to Zach then we wouldn’t have rushed our marriage like this. Geeez, you had better train more n because this will be the last ti that Zach would get into these kinds of missions and I would not allow him to go for any such dangerous missions ever again. I don’t think you would want to make
a widow so early in my life dad..."
Field Marshal Chan raised an eyebrow hearing how his daughter turned the table and scolded him instead. "Alright go to work now and I’ll hang up. Bye," said Field Marshal Chan before he ended the call .
He wanted to et Zach’s family but Zach would not be available for a few more weeks. ’Shall we go and visit them first?’ Field Marshal thought and suddenly felt excited about eting Keira’s in-laws. He thought to consult with his wife and Keira about the eting and plan it up with them. But he paused in his thoughts as he rembered that they were the daughter’s parents, reminded of this he murmured, "Shouldn’t it be the other way round? Mustn’t Zach’s family visit us first?"
’Ah but Zach is not around... They should probably visit his family first since Zach had gone because of him in the first place?’ The Field Marshal kept hanging between what he should do and what not and finally decided to talk to his wife and Keira regarding the matter.
Keira smiled after the call ended. She had intentionally not told her parents about the marriage because she knew them well. She was sure they would insist upon eting Zach’s parents and at the mont Zach was too busy to indulge in the formal rituals such as eting between the families.
As soon as she put back her mobile phone in her pocket the assistant director called her.
"Hurry back inside, Director Hols has sothing to say to you," she said, and Keira followed quickly.
"Alright... We will cover this event live. Thea will be a part of this event as her presence is requested by the organizers as a special guest on the program," said Director Hols as he briefed everyone for the upcoming televised charity event which will be held on the well-known island in their country. The funds would be utilized for both humanitarian and environntal aid.
Then Director Hols looked at Keira and said, "You prepare to go. You will travel along with Thea. You will be the main reporter on our channel to cover the event for two days."
"!" Keira burst as if she did not hear it carefully. Well it looks like she heard it right, just that the thought of Thea and her together for two days was giving her a creepy feeling. But being the professional that she was, she would cope with it. Besides, it’s a big event where she could show off her talent to all.
"Yes, you, Keira Chan. Why? Is there a problem?" asked Director Hols with a creased forehead and for so reason, Keira and Thea exchanged glances, both with raised eyebrows.
Keira shifted her gaze back at director Hols and answered, "No problem Sir, I will cover the event and do my best."
"Okay, good. Make sure you do your job properly. And this applies to all of you... We all have our problems, but we must know to follow professional ethics once at work, understood?" Director Hols said with a serious tone as he stared directly at Thea.
Thea, on the other hand, was fuming in complete despair upon finding out and confirming that Zach had married Keira already. It gravely affected her work quality so much that she could not focus while reading a report or often coughed for no reason. The fact that Zach was already married made her completely lose her sane mind. She knew that Director Hols was being patient with her, and thank goodness, Gavin would back her up very quickly whenever she lost her concentration.
She looked at Keira. Her intent gaze was like daggers, shooting at the latter.
She was so irritated and hurt that she was intensely thinking about how she could make Keira disappear. She wanted to throw Keira out from between her and Zach. Suddenly, an idea popped up in her mind, she rembered the man, Jeru Liu. She could tell by the look in his eyes that he looked at Keira in a different way. She must get that man investigated and find out if he could be of any use in getting rid of this witch.
The upcoming event could be the opportunity she was waiting for....
’It’s not finished yet, Keira! Do you really think I will let Zach free that easily? NO! I did not wait all these years and bore all those sufferings for nothing! Zach is mine!’ she hissed inwardly.
