Chapter 148: Call Of Duty
Keira was awakened by the continuous ringing of her phone.
"Helloooo..." Keira answered sleepily.
"Hello, Miss Keira?" a woman asked from the other end of the line.
"Yes?"
"It’s nurse Jane. You gave
your calling card before. It’s about Old Master Han... The doctors are trying to revive him now..." explained the nurse. Keira had previously asked to call her should there be any news regarding the Chairman of Life Hospitals Group. Old Master Han had beco ill after the death of his only granddaughter-Yera Han.
Keira was imdiately wide awake and quickly got ready to go out.
She called her minions J & J because it’s too late to disturb Zach at this hour.
Torin, who just got ho, saw her in the hallway.
"Hey, where are you going at this hour?" asked Torin as Keira seed to be in a hurry.
"Call of duty, Torin. Don’t tell Zach and let him rest... I’ll go now. I’m with my bodyguards," replied Keira in a hurry as she ran towards the elevator.
Torin shook his head as he murmured, "What a hard-working woman for soone who actually doesn’t need to work."
"No wonder Zach is so proud of her!" he added. To be honest, he was really not used to the new Zach right now, not that he was complaining...
Zach always smiled and laughed.
’Maybe, I’m envious.’ Torin mused as he entered his condo.
......
As soon as Keira arrived at the hospital, the first thing she did was quickly asses what was happening, so that she could inform the newsroom and send back the story first.
She looked at her wristwatch and once more, tried to call JV, but it just kept on ringing. This was a piece of important news because it was regarding a very important person in the dical field. She knew that she might need to make a live report.
She looked around and spotted the person in authority, Lyndon Chu - the acting CEO of Life Hospitals Group, and Old Master Han’s doctor.
She imdiately introduced herself and asked simple questions to find out what had happened before and what was happening now.
Afterward, Keira quickly wrote a short news report in her notebook. She contacted the newsroom and let them know the main facts.
"We will do a news flash. Go live now..." instructed Director Hols.
"Roger that, Sir," Keira answered as she quickly checked herself in a mirror and got ready to shoot live in the hospital.
JV was still not answering her calls. But Keira had already mastered the noble art of doing everything herself in this kind of situation.
She was like the jack of all trades; she needed to be able to do everything on her own.
"One of the country’s wealthiest n and one of its most generous philanthropists - the 73-year-old Chairman of Life Hospitals Group, Mr. Rylie Han, was proclaid dead at 11:55 in the evening by Doctor Chu. We’ve got no further details at the mont and are still waiting to get the full information from the hospital. We will get back to you as soon as the hospital releases the full details regarding Mr. Rylie Han’s cause of death. This was Keira Chan, reporting live for CEC News..."
After the news, Keira asked Doctor Lyndon Chu for a quick interview for more details, which the latter accepted.
"Isn’t it a bit off?" murmured Keira when she was inside the car, going back ho.
"What is off, Miss?" John asked with a yawn. He had already yawned several tis. It was already 4:00 AM, and none of them had any proper sleep.
"Old Master Han’s sudden death... That old man was so healthy the last ti I saw him..." added Keira.
"Yes, but maybe, it’s because of excessive depression, Miss. We all know that his only granddaughter was kidnapped and killed. The poor old man must have suffered a lot, to suddenly fall sick like this. It’s like falling down of the immune system," comnted Jim, also yawning.
Keira was also very tired, so she decided to rest instead of overthinking.
"Oh, isn’t Sir Xander fighting head to head with that Life Hospitals Group, right, Miss?" John suddenly asked.
"Hmm, yeah. But we all know no one can beat Big Bro Xander and his Yang Global Hospitals," murmured Keira before she closed her eyes to rest and sleep during their drive.
"She’s too biased towards her cousin, right?" comnted John.
"Well, they are like brother and sister, so what do you expect? Just focus on driving and stop yawning!" comnted Jim.
.........
The next morning, Zach woke up early and was going to check Keira first, so both of them could have breakfast together.
He was at the door when Torin and Lyra went out.
"Hey, Bro, I think Keira is still sleeping. I saw that hardworking girlfriend of yours last night, running for duty," said Torin.
"Why didn’t you tell ?" exclaid Zach.
"She said not to disturb you," replied Torin, scratching his head because he knew that Zach was definitely going to scold him.
"Next ti you must tell
everything concerning Keira, even if she asks you not to!" Zach sternly instructed.
Lyra suddenly interrupted, "Such a considerate girlfriend. You’re lucky, Big Bro."
Then she looked at Torin and whispered, "Let’s go before you get hit by ’Thunder.’"
"Big Bro, we’ll go first," Lyra said and quickly pulled Torin away.
Zach entered Keira’s condo and saw the latter, sleeping soundly in her room that looked so ssy as if a typhoon had just landed on it.
Zach sighed at Keira’s position on the bed, one more move, and she would fall. She even still had her shoes on.
He quickly moved Keira to the center of the bed and removed her shoes.
He decided to cook sothing first and left a note.
Then he imdiately cleaned Keira’s room.
Zach sighed and grinned just after. Cleaning up a woman’s room felt strange for him, but he was pleased with the result...
’Why do I feel like a househusband?’ he mused still grinning at the silly thought because he was willing to do anything for Keira.
He leaned forward and kissed Keira on her lips before leaving. He would be quite busy in a few weeks and wouldn’t be able to regularly co ho.
He had to finish this mission as soon as possible...
