Chapter 301: Battle of the Lords: A Demon Birthed From Slaughter
The mont Lee Lim snatched the spear from Leon, Goldie descended in a blur, swinging her longsword in a vicious vertical cleave.
Lee Lim, who had been poised to strike the downed Leon, suddenly had to redirect the stolen spear to parry the heavy blow. The ringing of steel on steel echoed through the air as both of them suddenly engaged in a frantic, sparks-showering struggle for dominance.
Unfortunately for Goldie, Lee Lim was faster and overwhelmingly stronger. During the short, frantic exchange, he struck her blade with enough force to swing her hands out wide, leaving her chest completely unguarded. In that split-second opening, he leapt in a blur, then spun into a devastating roundhouse kick that connected squarely with the side of her abdon.
The impact shattered her golden armor, and the sound of her ribs snapping was audible even over the roar of the wind. Goldie was sent flying through the air, a trail of blood oozing from her mouth as she spiraled away from the impact zone. She crashed and skipped on the sand before coming to a halt that left her battered and groaning in agony.
Lee Lim turned away from her and was about to return his gaze to Leon when a massive hand suddenly plowed into him. The force sent him reeling back. He crashed once, tumbling through the grit, before springing up onto one knee.
He looked in front of him to see Celeste coming for him in a blur. In that split second, he looked down at his right hand, only to see that the spear he had been holding had dissolved into sparks of golden light. The essence of the weapon was already traveling through the air, returning to its true master.
Lee Lim gritted his teeth as his gaze returned to Celeste. He straightened and threw his arms up in an "X" to block her second blow. The impact caused his boots to skid across the sand, leaving deep tracks before he ground to a halt. Then, both of them began exchanging brutal, heavy-handed punches.
He dodged her next strike by tilting his head to the side. Using the opening, he drove a devastating uppercut into her jaw. Her head snapped back, but she recovered instantly, returning a blow that whipped his face to the side. He didn’t let it slide. He drove his leg upward, slamming his knee into her abdon with a dull thud.
The fight continued in this brutal manner, with both of them either blocking the strikes with their forearms or dodging the blows to deliver lethal counters. At this mont, they looked just like a pair of deadly, inhuman martial artists.
The air around them vibrated with the sheer force of their exchange, and only sounds that could be heard between them were the concussive booms that rang out every ti a fist or leg connected with flesh and bone.
The good thing was that... for the first ti since they began fighting this Lord, wounds began to appear on his perfect body.
After only a few seconds, Celeste found her opening. She swept his legs with a thunderous kick, shattering his balance and sending him crashing to the ground. The mont his back hit the sand, she was already on top of him, pinning him down with her sheer mass. She rained punches onto his face again and again, each strike sending sprays of blood into the air.
After the fourth blow, Lee Lim’s eyes shone faintly and Celeste suddenly froze just as she was about to deliver the fifth. It was as if the very fabric of reality had hardened around her, turning the air into solid stone.

Lee Lim rolled out from under her and imdiately sprang to his feet. Since she was frozen in that stagnant pocket of space, he began pettily slamming blows into her head while roaring in a fit of rage. After pumling her defenseless form, he grabbed her large head in a grueso embrace. Then, he let out a guttural yell as he twisted and wrenched it completely off her body.
A fountain of blood splattered over him, painting his skin and clothes until he looked like a demon birthed from a slaughterhouse.
At that mont, he suddenly felt sothing that caused him to snap his head upwards. When he did, he saw about a hundred black magic circles that had just finished forming above him, glowing with a malevolent, ink-like light.
Looking down from the dark halos, he saw Cedric. The sorcerer stood in the distance and suddenly brought his hand down in a commanding motion. In the next instant, massive pillars of heavy black flas descended, crashing into the ground with the force of titanic falling hailstones.
Lee Lim imdiately leapt to the side to avoid a pillar that suddenly slamd into the sand exactly where he had stood. He had barely regained his footing when he had to leap again to avoid another, as the columns of fire continued to pulverize the earth in a relentless sequence.
It was as if the spells had locked onto him, chasing him with predatory intent as he blurred across the battlefield in a desperate bid for survival.

By now, Cedric’s mana was almost completely depleted. He had been offering mana to Athena to help the cadets, his friends, and himself, while also casting his own spells.
And so, it was only a matter of ti before his reserves went completely empty.
Of course, when that happened, his essence core would automatically thrum into life to take its place. Yet, even with that, Cedric was worried and needed to be careful. His essence core wasn’t that large as he had only been cultivating it for a few weeks. And unlike Aurora, who could probably simply get her flow of essence by inspiring faith in the cadets, his was more complicated.
At the mont, not many people were thinking of evil as they were all focused on their survival. The only tis he got a very good flow of essence were during the tis that his subjects of influence helped their teammates or saved their fellow cadets from death on this battlefield.
He did get a very vast amount of essence when Roben and Jesper sacrificed themselves to kill the lord they had been facing.
In fact, that was probably the most essence he had gotten ever since developing his essence core.
Regardless of that though, the point was that he would soon be running on his essence core and so, he began to grow desperate to find a way to bring down this lord before he ran out of essence too.
