The two girls sent by the Buddha Mother were innocent and naive, seemingly curious about everything.

After dashing down the mountain, they joyfully threw themselves into the bustling market.

Stead buns, bread, malt sugar, candied haws… they visited every delicious snack stall, grabbing things and running off without paying.

Their tiny cherry mouths seed to be connected to a black hole, endlessly consuming.

Huge pork knuckles were torn in half by their hands, and they chewed and swallowed them down, skin, bones, and all.

The girls happily ran through the streets, followed by a trail of cursing stallholders.

The Dragon Maiden watched with a headache.

“Li Muyang, aren’t you going to do sothing… these are your sisters-in-law after all…”

Li Muyang shook his head: “What does it have to do with if they take things without paying?”

Mainly because he didn’t carry any money with him.

The Dragon Maiden never had the habit of carrying money.

Calmly following behind the cursing and chasing crowd, Li Muyang quickly left the city.

After leaving the city, the chasing and cursing crowd soon gave up, cursing as they returned to the city.

Li Muyang passed through the returning vendors and quickly caught up with the two girls who had eaten without paying in the wilderness.

The two girls were running while fighting over a fragrant roasted chicken.

They chewed and fought over the chicken at while complaining about Li Muyang behind them.

“You’re walking too slowly…”

“Yeah, at this rate, when will we ever find the immortal’s remains?”

“We can’t leave too…”

The girl nad Xiaoyue was cut off mid-sentence as Xiaodie forcefully stuffed a chicken leg into her mouth.

However, Li Muyang calmly finished her sentence: “You can’t leave the Mother Buddha Temple for too long, right?”

Seeing Li Muyang speak out, the two girls wilted like frostbitten eggplants.

“You’re so smart…”

“I hate smart people…”

Li Muyang ignored their moods and asked,

“Where are the remains of the immortal? You can just tell the location, and I’ll find it myself. That way, you can go play, and when you’ve had enough, return to Black Stone Mountain.”

Li Muyang didn’t want to stay with the two girls and was trying to send them away.

But the girls were unhappy and retorted,

“Who wants to stay with you…”

“Exactly, if it weren’t for the fact that the immortal’s remains are hard to find, we wouldn’t want to be with you.”

“We should be feasting and drinking since it’s rare for us to co down the mountain!”

“Yeah, like eating the soy sauce roasted goose from Chunjiang Town!”

“Or the pebble-baked eggs from Xiaoshantun!”

“And the chicken stew with noodles from Songshuping!”

“Slurp…”

The more the girls talked, the more they drooled.

Seeing Li Muyang beside them, Xiaodie quickly wiped the saliva from the corner of her mouth and huffed,

“An immortal is not a mundane object of the mortal world; when they die, they just stay in the ground, motionless.”

Xiaoyue added, “Beings like immortals, even when thoroughly dead, their bodies will drift between heaven and earth.”

“We have to follow the earth’s veins to find the remains of the immortal.”

“Anyway, if you follow us, you’ll definitely find them!”

“Our spiritual senses are very strong; we can always find the right direction!”

The girls continued to run ahead as they spoke.

But as Li Muyang lifted his foot to follow, a scream of terror suddenly ca from ahead.

In the next second, the two girls ran back in utter horror as if they had seen a ghost.

“Li Muyang! There’s a ghost ahead!”

“There’s a ghost!”

The girls scread and ran to Li Muyang, then jumped right behind him.

In an instant, Li Muyang felt his body stiffen as if sothing cold and slippery had tightly pressed against his back.

When he looked back, he saw nothing but empty space.

Only the voices of the two girls echoed from the shadows behind him.

“Li Muyang, run!”

“The ghosts are coming!”

The girls were terrified.

Li Muyang narrowed his eyes and looked in the direction the girls had co from.

He saw the forest ahead was filled with a chilling atmosphere.

Two thin figures floated over with the cold wind. Shockingly, they were two bizarrely dressed paper figures.

These paper figures floated with the wind, and at first glance, they looked like two normal people walking through the woods.

But their thin bodies and stiff, unchanging faces gave their appearance a sinister and eerie aura.

Li Muyang frowned and stood still.

“Is Lord Shanyang looking for ?”

The appearance of paper figures in these lands was undoubtedly related to Lord Shanyang.

This old monster from Yangshou Mountain, who had lived for over a thousand years, was even feared by the Mother Buddha of Black Stone Mountain.

The two paper figures, carried by the chill wind, stopped about ten zhang away.

They bowed respectfully, but the sight of the thin paper figures bowing was eerie no matter how one looked at it.

“By the command of Lord Shanyang, we have co to respectfully invite the Dragon Goddess to his abode for a chat.”

“Lord Shanyang says that the Mother Buddha of Black Stone Mountain is malicious and not to be trusted, and the Dragon Goddess should stay away…”

The paper figures were extrely respectful, but their tone was cold and stiff.

Li Muyang looked at the paper figures, his eyes narrowed.

From the shadows behind him, the fearful cries of Xiaoyue and Xiaodie rose.

“Run…”

“Li Muyang, run…”

“The paper figures from Yangshou Mountain, they can suck out people’s souls!”

“The Mother says they’re not paper figures, they’re ghosts!”

The two girls were terrified of these paper figures.

Li Muyang, with narrowed eyes, did not imdiately leave but shook his head.

“My life is short, and it was the Mother Buddha who guided , telling how to avoid being devoured by this land.”

“If Lord Shanyang can also tell how to avoid being consud by the land, then I will consider going to Yangshou Mountain…”

After speaking, Li Muyang walked forward.

He did not avoid the paper figures but walked straight through them, heading in the direction the two girls had previously taken.

As he passed between the paper figures and entered the forest, the two girls suddenly leaped out from his shadow.

The sticky, slippery feeling on Li Muyang’s back also abruptly disappeared.

The girls looked at him in shock and admiration.

“Li Muyang, you’re so amazing.”

“You’re not even afraid of the paper figures from Yangshou Mountain!”

Li Muyang, however, ignored the girls’ praise.

He stood in the forest and looked back.

The paper figures in the wilderness had disappeared, their whereabouts unknown.

But the appearance of the paper figures was a signal—Lord Shanyang was getting impatient.

This strange and mysterious old monster, for so reason, was determined to et him.

Repeatedly urged, and now refused again, if the paper figures ca again next ti… would they resort to force?

Li Muyang pondered and looked at the two girls beside him.

“Can you tell about the paper figures from Yangshou Mountain?”

“You said these paper figures consu human souls… how do they do it? How is it possible?”
