1.

Monster Wave.

A concept that frequently appeared in genre novels, comics, movies, and gas.

It referred to a phenonon where monsters, having reached a saturation point, would group together and attack nearby humans. Naturally, it also existed in Eternal World.

This was why lords frequently dispatched their estate armies to eliminate monsters.

Though such deploynts had decreased sowhat after users began to populate the ga—

In lesser-popular estates, estate troops were still sent regularly to reduce monster numbers.

If a monster wave occurred, entire villages could be destroyed, and even the lord’s castle might be partially ruined.

Therefore, preparing for a monster wave was always taken seriously.

Wise as he was, Will knew that he, Seong, and Barbaros alone wouldn’t be enough to stop it. So he imdiately ran into the village and shouted:

“A monster wave!!! A monster wave is going to happen!!!”

“W-what!?”

“M-monster wave!?”

“W-what are you saying?!?!”

Even though it was a young boy making the claim—

Everyone knew how smart and quick-witted Will was, so the adults listened.

Still, it was hard for them to accept the word of a re child outright.

They glanced behind Will at Seong and Barbaros.

They seed to assu the two were rcenaries, hoping they would speak up and confirm it.

Naturally, both nodded.

“What this child says is true.”

“There are clear signs of a monster wave.”

“Oh dear!!!”

“H-how could this happen!!!”

“W-where are the estate soldiers Lord sent!?”

Only then did the villagers panic, flustered and trembling.

But Will, looking at the frightened adults, called out calmly.

“Our village will be okay!!! These hyungs said they’d protect us!!!”

“I-is that true?”

“O-our village doesn’t have much money...”

“We were robbed recently... w-we have no money.”

Hearing that, Seong and Barbaros both let out small chuckles.

The stolen money was probably what that bold little brat had used to hire them, right?

Thinking that made it sowhat amusing.

Of course, they had been paid back then, which was partly why they were helping now.

But in any case, it was true they were helping.

Looking at the villagers, they said:

“This kid was so desperate in asking for help, we just couldn’t turn him down.”

Barbaros said it with a dramatic tone, like an actor on stage.

Seong, lacking any flair for acting, simply nodded.

Then—

Will gave a bright laugh and turned back to the villagers to persuade them again.

“So let’s help these hyungs hunt the monsters properly!”

“H-how can we help?”

“W-we don’t have any strength...”

“Ahem, w-would we even be useful?”

Looking at the worried adults, Will explained.

“Well, we should be the ones reinforcing the village’s fence, shouldn’t we? It’d be a waste of manpower to have them do it, right?”

“Y-you’re right! We can do that much.”

“Yeah! Exactly!”

“It’d be a problem if they got tired doing odd jobs.”

“I’m glad there’s sothing we can do.”

Once they heard they had sothing useful to do, everyone seed relieved.

Seong and Barbaros also nodded, seeing their reactions.

Once that was settled,

The villagers moved quickly.

With Will’s guidance, construction and repairs progressed rapidly.

The fence was reinforced to the point where monsters couldn’t break through easily.

Seong and Barbaros looked at the sturdier wall and nodded.

‘This should be enough.’

Seong’s retainers were already stationed around the periter.

There was little chance that even a single monster could break into the village.

And not just above ground—Barfur was monitoring underground, while Kalisha and Anemore flew through the skies, patrolling from all angles.

There was nothing that could infiltrate the village.

Seong and Barbaros, having confird everything, now simply waited.

No one knew when the monster wave would begin.

They chose to defend the village's front, while Will, who insisted on helping, was stationed inside.

‘Even if he can wield wraith power, we can’t have a child fighting.’

It felt a little bad to stop Will, who truly wanted to protect his village—

But there was no helping it.

And—

“Just in case, we’ll leave any monster that slips into the village to you, Will.”

“...Okay.”

As if he realized there was no arguing with that, Will nodded.

He really was still just a kid.

Not that there was any real chance of monsters getting into the village anyway.

Seong was confident in their defenses, and ti began to move at an unnatural pace—

As if soone had hit a skip button.

Night fell quickly.

Seong and Barbaros stood at the village front on guard.

Not long after—

“Awooooo—!”

A piercing wolf’s howl echoed through the darkness.

At a glance, it looked like a monster that might show up in a beginner zone or first town.

But it had been scaled to Seong and Barbaros’s level—

A level 240 wolf had appeared.

And not just one—hundreds of wolves.

Even at a glance, they were not to be underestimated.

But neither Barbaros nor Seong flinched.

“I managed to block the first wave before, but the second one was tough. They ca from all directions...”

“There won’t be a problem this ti. I’ve summoned my retainers.”

Apparently, Barbaros had failed during the second wave.

Each individual monster was manageable, but the numbers were overwhelming.

But that didn’t matter to Seong.

He had more confidence in dealing with sheer numbers than anyone.

Hearing Seong’s reply, Barbaros nodded.

The confidence in his voice seed to put Barbaros at ease—he smiled broadly.

As the wolves neared—

Barbaros stepped forward first.

It wasn’t that Seong was slow.

He simply thought—

‘Let’s see what he can do.’

He wanted to assess Barbaros’s skills.

And as Seong quietly stood back,

Barbaros seed to realize it and purposefully opened a book quickly.

Then—

“Ah! The Tale of the Fla Giant! This one’s fun. The Fla Giant isn’t a typical physical creature but a spirit-type, so it generates strong firepower, and it functions similarly to a summoning skill.”

Barbaros muttered aloud as he opened the book to that section and began reading.

Seong tilted his head at the peculiar sight.

Then sothing strange happened.

As Barbaros read aloud from the book—

The information transford, piece by piece, into glowing magical formations in front of him.

Was it a form of incantation? Or perhaps word-magic?

Whatever it was, the mont he read, the data beca magic circles—

And just as he’d described, a Fla Giant was summoned and smashed its massive, blazing arm down upon the charging wolves.

Fwoooooosh———!!!

Flas erupted,

lting the earth itself.

The scorching heat distorted the air like a shimring mirage,

Turning ❀ Nоvеlігht ❀ (Don’t copy, read here) the area crimson and sweeping over the wolves.

Kuwaaaaaa——!!!

The ground surged like a tidal wave—

Which then turned into molten lava and crashed down on the monsters.

An overwhelming display of power.

Seong couldn’t help but be impressed.

‘That’s pretty impressive.’

Even compared to his own skills, it held up.

It was similar in strength to the more moderately crafted skills Seong had made.

Though not quite as powerful as Seong’s fully developed abilities,

It was still the kind of skill that proved Barbaros’s worth as a Lord.

But it didn’t end there—

As the heat of the Fla Giant dissipated, sothing else began to form.

“This ti it’s a Snow Maiden. In this world, Snow Maidens are considered spirit-types, but most have beco corrupted, so they're often seen as monsters. It’s sad really. They used to guide travelers through snowy terrain, but were tricked by humans and turned bitter.”

Once again, a magic circle ford just as before.

A class that casts by reading stories aloud—

Was there any job that suited Barbaros better?

The summoned Snow Maiden saw the molten wave and made a gesture.

Imdiately, a blizzard descended from the sky, freezing the lava in place.

Crack crack crack crack———!!!

CRACK!!!

Craaaaack——!!!

With the sound of shattering ice,

The lava solidified, and the wolves caught in it turned to stone.

The Snow Maiden, having completed her task, vanished.

Though nothing remained on the frozen ground—

More monsters surged in from behind.

Just as Barbaros was about to read again—

Seong raised a hand.

“I’ll handle this one.”

As he spoke, Seong extended his hand.

The shadows beneath the monsters, ford by the moonlight, began to deepen.

Then, with a wave of his hand,

The shadows turned to darkness and surged upward—engulfing the monsters.

Gulp——!

A swallowing sound echoed from sowhere.

The monsters caught in the shadows were pulled into the abyss.

Nothing remained.

The monsters had been consud by the darkness in an instant.

Barbaros gaped, stunned.

“Wow...”

He had never seen anyone other than himself unleash such power.

He had always traveled solo—

So it amazed him even more.

While Barbaros stood in awe,

Seong spoke.

“More are coming.”

“Ah! Right!”

At Seong’s words, Barbaros and Seong got ready again and swept away the incoming monsters.

Wave after wave—

They held firm.

The second wave, which Barbaros had once failed to stop, passed quickly.

The third and fourth waves were also handled without trouble.

Seeing this, Barbaros shouted excitedly.

“W-we might actually clear this!!!”

Unable to do it alone, he was visibly thrilled.

Seong smiled at his reaction—

Until Helena suddenly spoke in a rush.

—There’s a monster in the village!

—What?

How could that be?

As Seong stood there in confusion, Helena answered imdiately.

—The Will of the World created one in the village center!

—The Will of the World?

That ant it had been spawned by the system.

Did that an the scenario was designed for failure?

Stunned, Seong quickly turned to Barbaros.

“A monster just spawned in the village.”

“W-what!?”

“I’ll head there right away. I’m leaving this to you.”

“A-alright!”

Without even waiting for a full reply, Seong dashed toward the village.

Faster than ever before.

When he reached the village center—

The monster was already dead.

Its heart had been pierced—by necromantic force.

Relieved, Seong let out a breath—

Only to hear:

“D-dark magic?!”

A villager shouted.

Startled, Seong looked around.

Will stood there, hands trembling—

While the villagers stared at him with fear.

‘This feels... ominous.’
