Chapter 750: Chapter 749 This is Really Absurd Chapter 750: Chapter 749 This is Really Absurd “`

After getting the tea leaves from Sun Maochai, Jiang Feng felt uncomfortable all over, as if there was no right place to put them. He was afraid to leave them in the vestibule, fearing a thief might spot them and take them easily during the night. Placing them on the tea table was equally worriso; a thief could casually snatch them away if noticed. Hiding them solemnly inside a cabinet was no solution either—should a burglar rifle through his belongings, they would discover its value and take it for sure. In short, he was afraid of thieves breaking in at night.

Jiang Feng almost wished he could sleep with the two cans of tea leaves in his arms.

Even though he had seen much of the world and still owed Professor Li several hundred million yuan that he hadn’t paid back, in theory, he shouldn’t be so worried and frightened over tea leaves worth just a couple of hundred thousand yuan.

But that was just in theory.

In reality, Jiang Feng was still soone whose private stash didn’t even amount to a hundred thousand yuan. To buy tea leaves, he had to ask for money from his capitalist godmother—it made him out to be a complete pauper.

Don’t ask why the man behind Taifeng Building was so poor; the answer was that raising disciples was just too expensive.

Anxious and frightened, Jiang Feng barely slept that night. After getting up and having breakfast the next day, he headed straight for the gift wrapping shop he used to patronize. Actually, the shop wasn’t exclusively for gift wrapping—it just offered that service. It was Zhang Guanghang who had recomnded it to Jiang Feng. Whenever Jiang Feng bought little gifts for Wu Minqi—like hats or lipstick and other such trinkets—he would have the shop rewrap them.

A 20 yuan hat could be made to look like it was worth 2000 yuan after their packaging.

Of course, Jiang Feng could swear he had never bought Wu Minqi a 20-yuan hat. The only thing he had ever bought her was a discounted Uniqlo co-branded T-shirt for 39 yuan—and he had bought one for every person in the Taifeng Building’s kitchen staff every day.

The care of the boss for his employees was indeed sincere and unpretentious.

As Jiang Feng planned to skip work that evening to go out for a big al, all the pure at wontons were sold at noon, turning the hall into a crying ss, bewildering so of the new custors. Previously, three bowls of wontons would make at most a dozen people cry, but now they could make thirty at once—the power of the food was incomparable to before.

By six in the afternoon, Jiang Feng, Wu Minqi, Ji Xia, and Sun Maochai left Taifeng Building and headed for Yonghe House.

Ji Xia was excited the entire ti after hearing they were going to attend a banquet; Jiang Feng guessed she might be associating it with the country weddings she used to attend. Without going into too much detail to explain to Ji Xia, he figured it would be fine as long as she got the experience by just attending.

On their way, Sun Maochai borrowed Zhang Guanghang’s Bentley, and they enjoyed an uninterrupted ride. Arriving nearby Yonghe House’s underground parking lot, they coincidentally ran into Han Guishan’s family of three who had co in their Land Rover. It had been more than a year since Jiang Feng last saw Han Youxin. Although Han Youxin had frequently visited Taifeng Building that year, Jiang Feng sohow never ran into him.

Kids grow up fast, especially ones of Han Youxin’s age—shooting up in height like bamboo shoots, unstoppable. In just a year, Little Radish had grown into Big Radish, and he had slimd down quite a bit, no longer the chubby child he used to be, with noticeably bigger eyes.

“Mr. Han, what a coincidence,” Jiang Feng said with a smile, then nodded at Wang Jing and Han Youxin.

Wang Jing also smiled and nodded back at Jiang Feng. Han Youxin hesitated for a mont before stepping forward, finally greeting with “Hello, Jiang Feng.”

“You’ve grown a lot taller in just a year. I hardly recognized you,” Jiang Feng said with a smile.

“Children grow so fast,” Wang Jing affird with a smile.

The two groups walked together toward Yonghe House, with Han Youxin lagging behind. Han Guishan had done his howork these past days and knew that being able to eat this al was hitting the jackpot. Anticipating it for a full two days, he had been unable to focus on work. So caught up in the thought of the delicious food, he marched on ahead, forgetting all about his son. If it weren’t for Wang Jing rembering their child, Han Youxin might have been left behind in the parking garage looking for a police officer.

Wang Jing took Han Youxin’s hand and shook her head helplessly. She felt her husband hadn’t been one for food before, having dined in plenty of good establishnts while doing business when he was younger without acting like this. She couldn’t fathom why, over the last couple of years, he had started to emulate Xu Cheng, fixated on trying to figure out what to eat every day besides working.

Jiang Feng, who was also trailing behind, saw Han Youxin sneak peeks at him and said with a smile, “Han Youxin, do you still rember ?”

“I rember,” replied Han Youxin loudly, mustering courage, “Jiang Feng, the dumplings you make are really awful!”

Jiang Feng: …

Wu Minqi: Pfft.

Wang Jing lightly tapped Han Youxin on the head, “Youxin, how can you speak like that? It’s rude!”

“But the chicken tofu you make is delicious,” Han Youxin added quickly, with a sparkle in his eyes, “Jiang Feng, don’t make dumplings anymore, just make chicken tofu, and I’ll co eat every day!”

Jiang Feng: …

You shouldn’t be telling this; you should be telling your dad. Nobody else orders the pickled vegetable dumplings except him now.

All Jiang Feng could do was smile and say, “Then next ti you co to Taifeng Building, try the chicken tofu.”

Because of the conversation with Han Youxin, Jiang Feng was slightly delayed and arrived when almost everyone else was already there. Those who could bring their family mbers had done so.

“`

Jiang Feng and his party accounted for four, Han Guishan’s family of three, Xu Cheng and Zhou Shi didn’t have anyone to bring along, Tao Shu ca alone as he probably felt embarrassed to bring a family mber, Lu Sheng brought along both his parents, wife, and two kids, and adding Peng Changping, that made 17 people.

Everybody just needed to try a bit harder, if each person ate a bit more, finishing 27 dishes should be doable. After all, Mr. Han could eat for two, and if necessary, even for three.

Jiang Feng counted, and there were eighteen pairs of bowls and chopsticks on the table.

So who was the extra one?

Peng Changping should still be busy in the kitchen, there were two empty seats to the left of Zhou Shi and to his right was Tao Shu, looking restrained as if a Husky that had wandered into a pack of wolves. The spots for Jiang Feng’s four were in the middle of Han Guishan’s family of three and Lu Sheng’s family of five.

After thinking, Jiang Feng took the seat next to Lu Sheng.

Lu Sheng was busy persuading his high school senior daughter to abandon humanities for the sciences, while his youngest son, who looked to be about the sa age as Han Youxin, listened on the side with a befuddled expression.

“Mr. Lu,” Jiang Feng called out softly, interrupting Lu Sheng’s long-winded speech, giving Lu Sheng’s daughter, who threw Jiang Feng a grateful look, a chance to grab her brother and slip away.

“Hm?” Lu Sheng turned his head and failed to notice his daughter had already slipped away.

“Who’s the eighteenth person?” Jiang Feng asked curiously.

“The eighteenth?” Lu Sheng was still lost in thought about literature and science and took a mont to pull himself out before realizing, “Oh, it’s a friend of Master Peng.”

“When counting the number of people yesterday, we realized there were only seventeen, which is an unlucky number, so Master Peng called up a friend at the last minute to make it eighteen, which is lucky,” Lu Sheng explained.

“Master Peng has friends here in the country?” Jiang Feng was sowhat surprised, as during his ti learning to cook at Yonghe House, he had never seen Peng Changping visiting any old friends. Peng Changping mostly spent his ti having tea with a group of regular elders at Yonghe House.

“I didn’t know before either. It might be a friend’s relative or sothing. I wasn’t around when Master Peng made the call. He told last night to prepare a set of dishes for eighteen,” said Lu Sheng.

Jiang Feng nodded in understanding and started discussing so restaurant matters with Lu Sheng.

Not many knew about Chef Arno’s walkout, but the downturn in sales at the top-floor restaurant was evident to all. As the top-floor restaurant struggled, the sales of other restaurants increased correspondingly, particularly at Eight-treasure House and Taifeng Building. Ling Guangzhao even started giving out red packets in the WeChat group again, a sign that business was indeed picking up.

As Jiang Feng was chatting with Lu Sheng, the private room suddenly fell silent. Jiang Feng looked up and across the table, Tao Shu had a ghost-stricken expression with his body visibly shaking.

Next to Tao Shu, Zhou Shi looked dumbfounded.

Then, Jiang Feng noticed that Han Guishan and Xu Cheng also had ghost-stricken faces. Just as Jiang Feng was about to ask what had prompted such expressions, he realized that Lu Sheng also wore the sa ghastly look.

Everyone was looking in the sa direction.

Jiang Feng finally realized that they might have really seen a ghost.

Jiang Feng turned his head.

He too wore a face as if he had seen a ghost.

It really was like seeing a ghost, Jiang Feng thought to himself.

At the entrance stood a burly man.

And that burly man was none other than Chef Arno, whom everyone had thought had taken off.

Jiang Feng turned to Lu Sheng with difficulty, “A friend?”

Lu Sheng showed a smile uglier than crying, “How would I know…”

“Is this how Master Peng…”

“Randomly adds to the count!”
