Chapter 64: Xu Ji’s Revenge

Western District, Peach Blossom Alley.

On a rooftop outside the entrance to the Demon Nest, a haggard middle-aged man with sunken eye sockets stared fixedly at the exit.

The mont he saw Lu Zhan erge from the Demon Nest, his eyes filled with killing intent.

“Big Brother, I failed to protect the continuation of our Xu family line. But do not worry. I will definitely avenge your sons.”

With those words, he leaped from the rooftop and shot toward Lu Zhan, who was preparing to get into his car.

His long saber left its sheath in an instant.

So, Lu Zhan, you liked being ruthless, did you? You liked chopping people to pieces in the street, did you? Then today, Xu Ji would let him have a taste of what it felt like to be dismbered in public.

A trace of cruelty appeared in Xu Ji’s eyes.

People like them had fought their way through life. Which of them had a good temper?

“Lu Zhan, hand over your life!”

In the next instant, streak after streak of Saber Energy slashed toward Lu Zhan, utterly disregarding the lives of the ordinary people beside him.

“Die!”

Xu Ji was extrely confident in this strike.

He was in the Divine Sea Realm. At this level, one had already begun to master attacks that sent Spiritual Energy beyond the body. He had heard that Lu Zhan could also use Saber Energy, but how could it possibly compare to the Spiritual Energy of soone in the Divine Sea Realm?

Besides, he was the one who had launched a surprise attack. He refused to believe that Lu Zhan, a Fifth Level Aperture Opening Realm cultivator, could block the carefully nurtured Saber Energy he had prepared in such haste.

Yet in the very next mont, the slap to his face ca with astonishing speed.

The ordinary people had not even reacted when Lu Zhan had already slashed out several streaks of dark red Saber Intent in succession, crushing every single strand of Xu Ji’s Saber Energy.

Then he raised the Longevity Saber before him and blocked Xu Ji’s blade directly.

Steady and unmoving, he caught the strike cleanly. With a slight tremor of force, he shook Xu Ji backward again and again.

“Who are you?”

Looking at the other man’s Demon Extermination Bureau uniform, Lu Zhan frowned and asked coldly.

Did this man think that wearing the Bureau’s skin ant he could do whatever he pleased in Lu Zhan’s territory?

Killing intent surged in Lu Zhan’s eyes.

This man was courting death!

Xu Ji was sowhat surprised. Divine Sea Realm... He had not expected Lu Zhan to have grown stronger again. But so what? Xu Ji had never once failed to kill soone he ant to kill.

Then he burst into laughter.

“Who am I? Hahaha! Lu Zhan, stop pretending. You should know perfectly well who I am. Have you been trembling in fear these past few days, unable to eat properly or sleep soundly?”

In his view, if an Aperture Opening Realm cultivator was being targeted by a Divine Sea Realm cultivator, that was exactly the sort of state he should be in.

Yet he did not see the slightest panic in Lu Zhan’s eyes.

Why?

Why was the man not afraid?

He was a Third Level Divine Sea Realm martial artist. He had co for revenge.

Lu Zhan was baffled. Where had this lunatic co from?

“Forget it. I do not care who you are. I’ll just kill you.”

Lu Zhan had not expected that there were still people in this day and age who rushed forward to seek death.

In the next instant, lightning burst beneath his feet.

He charged straight at Xu Ji.

Xu Ji’s expression turned extrely ugly at once. Lu Zhan had gone too far... he... he had never once put him in his eyes.

“So you are Lu Zhan? You are quite arrogant, aren’t you? You do not even take seriously. I am Xu... Ji, a Third Level Divine Sea Realm cultivator!”

He had not even finished announcing his na before Lu Zhan was already coming at him.

“Oh.” Lu Zhan’s tone was light, as though he had heard the na of so stray cat or dog. “Third Level Divine Sea Realm?”

Then, sothing bizarre happened. The voice that had been in front of him suddenly sounded by his ear.

“Just now, there was a Third Level Demon Guard Realm creature that I beat until it knelt and begged for rcy. It even wanted to acknowledge as its master. In the end, though, I scattered it to the winds.”

“So... this is the confidence that makes you dare cause trouble in my territory?”

Xu Ji felt the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. He could sense the chill of Lu Zhan’s blade behind him.

Fast!

Far too fast!

Even with his Third Level Divine Sea Realm cultivation, he had nearly failed to react. His expression darkened at once.

“Lu Zhan, do not underestimate , Xu Ji!”

He spun and delivered an extrely precise backward strike, blocking Lu Zhan’s Longevity Saber.

Then he used the impact to drift away and open the distance again.

Looking at the young man before him, Xu Ji felt a trace of pride.

“Lu Zhan, you do have talent. It is a pity that you should never, ever have killed my nephews.”

“I investigated what happened in Peach Blossom Alley. They were Demon-Subduing Guards. They protected so many ordinary people, yet you killed one of them rely because my nephew killed a single ordinary person.”

“Absurd. This is utterly absurd.”

Those words actually made Lu Zhan laugh. So he had planted the tree crooked himself, and now he was blaming Lu Zhan for uprooting the sapling?

“You would not happen to think that because you blocked one strike from , you are no longer going to die, would you?”

Lu Zhan had indeed been sowhat surprised just now.

They were both in the third major realm of cultivation, yet the Nightmare Demon Peach had won through raw power and an abundance of thods. Xu Ji, anwhile, as a human, possessed rich combat experience.

However...

Out of the corner of his eye, Lu Zhan swept a glance over the surrounding crowd that was gradually retreating.

“I was only holding back a little just now, and look how arrogant you have beco. Co, now try again and see whether you can take one more strike from .”

Talent [Windshadow Step] activated.

Lu Zhan’s already terrifying speed beca even faster.

Talent [Eyes of the Candle Dragon] activated.

In the next instant, the entire world seed to slow to a crawl.

Xu Ji’s attack trajectory and weak points were all laid bare in Lu Zhan’s eyes.

And in Xu Ji’s eyes, Lu Zhan seed to vanish completely on the spot. At once, every hair on his body stood on end.

Danger!!!

Extre danger!!!

Years of battle experience told him exactly how perilous his situation was. For this one strike, he could rely only on the instinct tempered through life-and-death combat.

Clang!

The long saber flew from his hand.

Then Lu Zhan kicked him and sent him flying.

One move. Just one move!

Lu Zhan had disard an enemy three realms above him in a single exchange.

Terrifying!

At this mont, Xu Ji finally understood just how terrifying Lu Zhan truly was.

The man’s strength exceeded his understanding.

Run!

He had to run!

“Lu Zhan, you cannot kill . I am a Demon-Suppressing Mage of the Demon Extermination Bureau!”

Xu Ji’s face was full of terror.

But Lu Zhan did not care in the slightest.

“Have you forgotten how your two dear nephews died?”

Lu Zhan sneered as lightning flashed beneath his feet.

In the next instant, Xu Ji crushed a talisman in his hand.

That talisman was one Lu Zhan knew very well—the Ice Arrow Talisman.

Gao He had used one against him before, but this one was clearly much stronger.

It contained astonishing power. This was absolutely not an attack at the level of the Third Level Divine Sea Realm.

At once, countless ice arrows shot toward Lu Zhan.

“Hahaha, Lu Zhan, you fell for it, did you not? Die for !!!”

Xu Ji was covered in blood. The fear had vanished from his face, replaced by utter frenzy.

Had everything just now been an act?

No one knew. Not even Xu Ji himself could tell clearly.

Feigning weakness to deceive the enemy was one of his usual tricks, but the fear he had felt before Lu Zhan had not been false.

An endless chill spread through the air, shrouding the entire area where Lu Zhan stood.

This Ice Arrow Talisman was even more vicious than the one Gao He had used last ti. Everything within the reach of the mist froze into ice sculptures.

There was no way to evade this talisman.

Xu Ji was utterly convinced that Lu Zhan was dood, because this talisman had been given to him by one of the great figures within the Demon Extermination Bureau.

He rose unsteadily to his feet, his expression indifferent, then mocked, “Lu Zhan, I was never your only enemy. If you must bla soone, then bla yourself for failing to understand the tis. Martial artists standing above ordinary people is the inevitable trend.”
