Shi Lei's eyes flashed and he reacted quickly.
The Water Qi in the surroundings quickly moved to his will and ford a ball of water around them.
Shi Lei was trying to use his Water Qi to suppress Wu Kai's Innate Flas. In truth, this had been Shi Lei's goal ever since he saw his best friend lose control for the first ti.
He had sworn to himself he would cultivate his Water Qi to the point where it could prevent Wu Kai from ever losing himself to his Sea Beast side. But as the years went by, that goal got further and further away. Even though he had gotten stronger, Wu Kai's Innate Flas outbursts would get even more powerful.
Shi Chun was the only one who had a thod of stopping Wu Kai, but now that he was gone…
'Since third uncle is no longer here, I'll stop you from losing control. No matter what.'
But even though Shi Lei thought this, the heat on Wu Kai's body didn't lessen and was only increasing by the second. It reached the point where the ball of water Shi Lei conjured began evaporating into steam.
Then... BANG!
Flas that began burning the void erupted from Wu Kai's body and destroyed Shi Lei's water ball.
"ARGHHH!!"
Shi Lei was still holding onto Wu Kai, refusing to give up. However, the orange-colored flas on Wu Kai suddenly gained a hint of blue in them.
A sense of death imdiately washed over Shi Lei.
"NO! I'll-"
Shi Chun wasn't going to give up even while facing death, but he was suddenly pulled back by his collar by Ji i that suddenly appeared behind him.
He then watched as Ji i reached for Wu Kai.
The flas caused her to frown, but she suddenly swept her gaze across Wu Kai's body, and imdiately, the void around Wu Kai's unconscious body began to twist and distort, after which the Innate Flas disappeared as if they blinked out of existence.
Sowhere on the battlefield below, those Innate Flas with a hint of blue in them appeared and began burning the Sea Beasts in the water. The Sea Beasts were shocked by this but they didn't get the chance to wonder where these flas ca from as they were burnt to ash.
On the wall, Ji i's face turned pale and she forcefully swallowed a mouth full of blood that threatened to leave her mouth.
Shi Lei that had slight burns on his robe and skin opened his eyes wide upon seeing Ji i's ability. This was completely different from what she showed in the battle arena.
Those distortions were definitely spatial teleportation.
'So her Eye's of Dissemination is really related to Space and Spatial Laws.'
Shi Lei thought, but his focus quickly turned to Wu Kai.
He went to approach him, but Ji i's hand reaching for him grabbed his robes and then lifted him up before tossing him over the wall.
"W-What are you doing?!"
Shi Lei yelled as he ran to the edge of the wall about to go after Wu Kai's falling figure, but Ji i glared at him and said.
"Stop, are you trying to kill yourself?"
As soon as Ji i said that, Shi Lei saw Wu Kai's falling figure burst into deep blue flas.
A cold chill went down his spine when he felt the power of these blue flas. If he had been holding Wu Kai like before his soul would have been burnt away in a matter of seconds.
Shi Lei gripped the wall.
"Damn it, Wu Kai's in danger. It's not like before when his Innate Flas are going out of control. Those blue flas around him have Life Energy mixed within. It's his Life Energy that's burning! But we can't use third uncle's thod anymore to stop him, if we do nothing and allow those blue flas to run out he'll die."
Shi Lei grabbed his face.
"It's my fault, I was too weak to stop him before it reached this point. Now he might… damn it."
Ji i who had sat down for a mont to stabilize her injuries suddenly open her eyes and stood up.
She looked over the wall to see Wu Kai's blue flas dance on top of the water while he was beneath, still unconscious thankfully.
She then watched as the blue flas started to spread out on the battlefield. Ji i's eyes narrowed before she said to Shi Lei.
"He might survive if he's lucky."
Shi Lei hearing this quickly looked up at Ji i.
"What do you an?"
"If this continues Wu Kai's flas might even affect everyone on the battlefield."
"Huh? Then why did you-"
"Now the only way to prevent that is to either stop his outburst or… kill him."
Shi Lei's face turned grim.
"Even my father couldn't stop Wu Kai's Innate Flas outbursts. They're going to kill him! Especially when no one has a favorable opinion of him because of his Sea Bast bloodline! Why did you throw him over the wall?!"
"What's the difference? His Life Energy was going to burn away if he was left alone. But in this situation, he has a chance to survive."
"What-What are you talking about?"
Shi Lei realize Ji i purposely threw Wu Kai over the wall and created this situation, but he couldn't understand why she would do that.
Ji i still looking down at the battlefield said via voice transmission.
'In this situation where there are no Soul Transformation Realm cultivators on the battlefield, the only cultivators left are Nascent Soul Realm cultivators, but it'll be hard for them to get close to Wu Kai because of those blue flas let alone take his life. The only person who can step in now to prevent a disaster, to either kill or help him is the Border Guardian. If Wu Kai's lucky, the Border Guardian might have a way to suppress his flas.'
With that Shi Lei finally understood what Ji i's plan was by throwing Wu Kai over the wall.
'So she did this for Wu Kai? But... if not even Soul Transformation Realm cultivators can stop his outbursts, then maybe the Border Guardian could. However, even with third uncle and father's statuses, the Border Guardian had never responded to them requesting his help. But in this situation where a disaster could occur, he might make a move. But…'
Shi Lei paused here in his thoughts to look at Ji i, with surprise. He would have never guessed that Ji Mi would do sothing like this. Wasn't she essentially forcing the Border Guardian to act by putting all those Borderner's lives at risk?
Ji i was soone who was a stickler for following the rules so this ca as a huge shock for Shi Lei.
'Does she care for Wu Kai? Maybe under her cold exterior, she's soone who values her friends.'
Shi Lei thought, but Ji i suddenly said.
"Don't misunderstand, I just think losing soone with talent like him would be a waste for our Southern Border. The lives at stake down there aren't even worth a strand of hair on his head. We should be nurturing him instead of leaving him to die. Why be indecisive about such a simple decision to save him?"
Shi Lei hearing this thought to himself that this sounded like the Ji i he knew. She placed her duties first and relationships second.
From her standpoint, she couldn't understand why the Border Guardian would let soone like Wu Kai die without helping him. If it were her and she had to choose between those thousands of Borderners down below and Wu Kai, she would choose Wu Kai.
Simply because he had the potential to beco a General. A thousand, ten thousand, or even a hundred thousand soldiers was nothing compared to the value of a General.
"Child, this old man will overlook your actions this ti. It's true I've been indecisive... *Sigh*...it must be old age."
The voice of an old man echoed out on the wall and Shi Lei's heart nearly jumped out of his throat. He quickly stood up and he along with Ji i both cupped their fists and greeted.
"Junior greets the great Border Guardian!"
"Junior greets the great Border Guardian!"
As their voices sounded out, they looked below their feet to see the wall was starting to glow a golden color.
Shi Lei quickly went to look over the wall where Wu Kai was.
'Does that an he's going to help Wu Kai? Or will he kill him?'
Shi Lei was a bit nervous but hopeful at the sa ti.
