At the sa ti, in the northern district of Cri City, Lü Yang’s brows furrowed slightly upon seeing the murderous-looking monk. As a super-strong expert, he instinctively tightened his grip on his long spear, his guard raised to the absolute maximum.
Just then, they suddenly felt a terrifying power emanating from within the city.
"Half-step into the Fire Decay realm!" Lü Yang turned his head and said slowly, "How long has it been? How did that guy get so strong?"
"It’s Chen Zheng!" A hint of joy appeared on Lü Yang’s face as he spoke.
Beside him, Li Yuqin’s expression changed the mont she heard Chen Zheng’s na. "Hurry, lead the way!"
Lü Yang did not act imdiately. Instead, he slowly stepped back to stand beside Li Yuqin, his eyes fixed warily on the monk.
"Benefactors, I an no harm!"
Hearing this and seeing Lü Yang’s expression, Li Yuqin instantly understood. She raised an eyebrow and questioned the monk, "Old monk, are you planning to make a move on us?"
"I have no such intention!"
"You’d better not, or I’ll kill you!" she pouted. "Lü Yang, let’s go get Chen Zheng!"
"Mhm!" Lü Yang nodded.
At the city gate, the monk watched the two figures depart and sighed. This benefactress is certainly no ordinary person!
The four of them ran frantically, heading west.
Many onlookers were shocked by the sight. Teluos, once the greatest divinity in Cri City, was now fleeing in panic. This man, who had dominated Cri City for many years, was now running for his life. So recognized his pursuer, Chen Zheng, who was chasing him from behind.
What’s going on?
Many of the city’s inhabitants were isolated and completely unaware of events in the outside world. They were, however, intimately familiar with everything that had happened in Cri City recently, having witnessed it all firsthand.
The tis are changing!
Ming Chong’s expression was stern as he gripped two longswords. He was filled with remorse for the Night Watchn, believing that if he had set out earlier and arrived in the north sooner, the outco would have been different. So many from the Night Watchn legion had died, and he could not escape the bla. He had to take responsibility for his actions, which was why he had brought Chen Zheng here—to resolve this situation once and for all before facing the specters that were soon to arrive.
He pushed his True Qi to its limits, hoping to close the distance between them as quickly as possible. Thanks to the latest combat equipnt, he rapidly approached the area, but his speed was still a little too slow. Unable to catch up right away, the four of them raced together toward the docks!
Twenty minutes later, they arrived at the harbor.
"Hurry up, the ship is right in front of us!" Teluos shouted.
On the docks, many of Teluos’s subordinates were bustling about as ships departed from the harbor one after another. Teluos often took a ship out to sea, but he had promised the Night Watchn he wouldn’t go far, so he decided to use this vessel for transport.
WHOOSH!
At that mont, an intense sense of crisis assaulted him from behind, forcing him to spin around and defend.
Chen Zheng’s Blade of Breaking Air sliced through the air, clashing with Teluos’s longsword!
CLANG!
After blocking the attack, Teluos froze for a second, just in ti to see a figure flash past him.
Chen Zheng, holding an unnad sword, landed on a white cruise ship. "Teluos," he asked, "where do you think you’re going?"
Teluos’s expression changed drastically. He turned his head and saw Ming Chong and Chen Zheng catching up from behind, blocking his path. This man, who had once ranked second on the Heaven’s List and been the lord of Cri City, had lost all of his forr composure!
A thin layer of sweat beaded on his forehead. The longer one lived, the more one feared death. Teluos was undoubtedly an old man who had lived through many long years, and now, feeling the cold breath of death, his heart was filled with terror.
"Chen Zheng, we are both human! What’s the point of this struggle?" Teluos said through gritted teeth. He glanced up at the sky, where a blood-red specter was looming ever closer.
Originally, Teluos had planned to wait for the red-haired monster to land. Then, he would have several others gather top experts to surround Chen Zheng. With himself, Mister Mo, and the red-haired monster joining the fray, they could have killed Chen Zheng in one swift move.
But now, he understood that his chance was gone.
"We’re both human, so why did you do it?" Chen Zheng smiled at him. "At the foot of Mount As, tens of thousands of the Night Watchn who guarded humanity have died, and because of you, our elite forces are trapped here!"
"Even though you’re human, your kind is more terrifying than any other. I despise traitors like you most of all. Because of you, we have lost countless comrades. You’ve forfeited that right!" Chen Zheng brandished his unnad sword.
Under the sunlight, the weapon glead with a murderous aura.
"This is simply our choice, Chen Zheng. You don’t even understand the strength of the Sharp Fiends, let alone Fenkū," Teluos explained. "Fenkū needs to devour a certain number of skeletons—skeletons like yours. Its physical constitution will be greatly improved. Only a powerhouse like Zhuo Ming could possibly stop it. You can’t. At best, you’re a Golden Malice who has barely stepped into the Fire Decay realm!"
"What does that have to do with ?" Chen Zheng sneered. "No matter what you say, I’m killing you today."
"No!" Teluos yelled. "You should know what specters of this level are capable of, right? When so many of them arrive, no one can stop them except for Zhuo Ming. But even at full power, Zhuo Ming can only manage a single strike. We only surrendered to bide our ti and wait for an opportunity!"
"And you? You surrendered while ’waiting for an opportunity,’ becoming their lapdog and coming after us?" Chen Zheng’s eyes flashed. "Countless Night Watchn have died at the hands of Blood Lotus over the years. How many have you killed in all this ti? Who can guarantee that even more powerful enemies won’t erge from their ranks?"
Chen Zheng said flatly, "The mont you raised your sword against the Night Watchn, any possibility of reconciliation between us vanished."
"Chen Zheng, your actions will only plunge humanity into an irredeemable abyss! Their only goal is to obtain these skeletons. If we hand them over, they will surely spare us," Teluos sighed. "This is about preserving humanity’s strength."
Chen Zheng scoffed, "With this paltry group? The mont those things get out, they’ll start a massacre."
Just as Chen Zheng finished speaking, Ming Chong sighed. "Chen Zheng, make your move. Their philosophy is different from ours; there’s no need for any more words."
