"Chen Zheng, cut the crap. I’ve never seen a bodyguard act like this. Tell him to get lost and leave alone, now!" Feng Yueyue could barely control her emotions.
"I understand..." Chen Zheng nodded helplessly. "I’ll handle it myself."
"That’s better..." Seeing Chen Zheng start to compromise, Feng Yueyue’s tone softened. Then, she seed to rember sothing else. "Oh, by the way, one more thing. Tomorrow is the Jiangnan Developnt Gala. Our family is hosting it this year at the Xiangli Hotel, and my dad asked to invite you. I’m just ntioning it casually; it doesn’t matter if you co or not. After all, you don’t have a clue about business."
Her tone was as disdainful as ever, but Chen Zheng didn’t take it to heart and casually agreed.
After hanging up, Chen Zheng contacted Xu Da and gave him a proper scolding. Close protection didn’t an following soone into the bathroom while they were showering. Wasn’t that just blatantly taking advantage of the situation?
"Brother-in-law, I think I’m in love!" Xu Da’s single sentence left Chen Zheng speechless.
"Forget it..." Chen Zheng sighed, not knowing what else to say. "Handle it yourself."
He had every right to pursue his own happiness, but how he went about it was his own business. In these matters, he couldn’t offer any help.
After hanging up, Zhao Feng walked in from outside.
"War God, tomorrow is the developnt gala. The Ronghua Group will likely make a move," Zhao Feng said, his expression exceedingly grim. "We’ve already confird it. Not only are there people from the Alliance involved this ti, but there are also hidden bounty hunters."
"What?" Chen Zheng’s expression turned frosty. "They’re really putting on quite a show. The Ronghua Group is resorting to such vile thods for a little profit."
"Go and prepare. I’ll be attending the gala personally tomorrow."

「The next day.」
It was now late autumn, and a chill hung in the air outside the Xiangli Hotel. The entrance was packed with people and a constant stream of vehicles. The least impressive cars were BMWs and rcedes, while luxury models like Lamborghinis were a common sight. The developnt gala was a platform to showcase strength; the so-called business exchange was really about expanding connections and, frankly, showing off.
Therefore, everyone attending today was a true business elite or a mber of a prestigious family.
In stark contrast, a green Jeep pulled up and parked, standing out imdiately from its surroundings. When the doors opened, two tall figures slowly erged. The man in the lead was powerfully built with a lean, handso face, instantly drawing the gazes of many won. His kind of presence was sothing many wealthy young scions couldn’t hope to match.
Just as Chen Zheng and Zhao Feng were about to head inside, a Lamborghini parked nearby. An incredibly graceful figure stepped out, her face a mask of unprecedented arrogance.
"You two, go park my car," the woman ordered, casually tossing her keys toward them. Tucked onto the key ring were two red banknotes. It was clear she had mistaken them for valets.
Zhao Feng’s brow furrowed. He pushed the woman aside, causing her to lose her balance and nearly fall to the ground.
"Are you insane?" she shrieked. "You’re just a server, and you dare to push ?"
Chen Zheng’s eyebrows furrowed slightly as he turned to look.
"It’s you?" Sun Doudou recognized him imdiately. He was the sa swindler she had run into at the airport—that scoundrel selling dicine! "Well, well... I guess scamming people at the airport wasn’t enough for you, huh? Now you’ve co here to peddle your fake dicine? Kid, let warn you, this is a dangerous place."
"Arrogant," Zhao Feng said, his gaze turning ice-cold.
"Zhao Feng," Chen Zheng stopped him. Showing no anger, he looked at Sun Doudou and asked with concern, "How is your grandfather doing? Is he well?"
Rembering the old man, he couldn’t help but worry.
"My grandfather went for a check-up the other day, and the doctor said there was absolutely nothing wrong with him. You should consider yourself lucky your fake dicine was so well-made that it didn’t have any side effects!" Sun Doudou said coldly. "Otherwise, I would have definitely taught you a lesson!"
"You ungrateful woman," Zhao Feng retorted coldly. "If it weren’t for our War God noticing your grandfather was gravely ill that day and kindly intervening, do you think he would still be alive?"
"Nonsense!" Sun Doudou’s expression changed instantly. "My grandfather isn’t sick at all!"
"If he’s not sick, then just wait and see how long he can live."
"You dare curse my grandfather?" Sun Doudou panicked, her face flushing red.
"I’m not cursing him; I’m stating a fact," Zhao Feng sneered. "If you hadn’t thrown that elixir away, your grandfather might have lived a little longer. But you, you foolish woman, you personally dood him!"
"You dare call foolish? You dog, who do you think you are?" Livid, Sun Doudou raised her hand to slap him, but Zhao Feng caught her wrist effortlessly. She struggled, but couldn’t break free.
"Zhao Feng," Chen Zheng said, his brows knitted together.
Zhao Feng snorted, released her wrist, and shot her one last glare before striding away with Chen Zheng.
Sun Doudou rubbed her aching wrist, her face contorted with anger. "You two damned scoundrels! If I ever see you again, I swear I won’t let you off!"
Chen Zheng led Zhao Feng into the venue. The grand hall had been transford into the site of a lavish party, with a huge stage at its center. The event hadn’t officially begun, and young n and won in luxury brands were gathered in small groups, chatting amongst themselves.
"Brother-in-law..." Just then, a tall figure in a suit suddenly appeared before them.
"I’ve already swept the venue," Xu Da reported briskly. "mbers of the Alliance are mingling with the guests, and there’s another mysterious faction present. Our brothers are keeping an eye on them. There won’t be any problems."
Chen Zheng glanced around, imdiately sensing several deeply concealed presences.
"Keep your eyes on them. If they dare make a move, kill them."
