Chapter 207
’What the fuck just happened?!’ Max exclaid inwardly at what he had just seen unfold right in front of his eyes. He had thought the female in front of him was just a harmless human, which was exactly why he told Jim to go easy on her.
But he never knew she had superpowers.
’Wait! Sole survivor of the lightning clan? What does that even an? How does she have abilities? What is going on in this world?’ Max rubbed his palm across his face, frustration boiling inside him.
’And should this even be shocking to you? You are literally a dragon, you turned your human friend into one, you lead a gang, you have seen hybrids, hunters, beasts, demons and demon vessels. So why is a human possessing abilities the thing that stuns you? Tch, get a grip.’
"Now," Ava muttered as she landed gracefully, her feet still crackling with lightning. The smirk on her face remained unshaken as she stared directly at the dragon in front of her. "I have told you who I am, so why don’t you introduce yourself and explain why you want to take down the demon vessels?"
"You are strong, you have abilities," Max muttered as he began taking slow steps forward, each movent tense and heavy. His face twitched as if he was trying to suppress sothing bubbling inside him. "Why? Then why didn’t you fight back? Why didn’t you take down those filthy creatures yourself?!"
"I don’t owe a weakling like you any explanation!" Ava scread. In one fluid and vicious motion, she hurled her hand forward, sending a ball of lightning crackling through the air at insane speed toward the dragon.
It was so fast that no ordinary person would ever be able to dodge it except...
[Ruler’s hand Activated]
Max’s hand shone a bright blue as he stretched it forward. Instantly, the ball of lightning froze mid-air. It was still pushing forward, violently fighting against the force stopping it, but the dragon didn’t budge. Ava’s mouth hung open as she watched the impossible unfold.
"H...how?" she mumbled in shock the mont she saw Max twirl his hand. In a flash, the lightning ball shot back at her at twice the original speed.
Lightning still danced around her feet as she prepared to bolt aside. She managed to move, but the ball was far too fast. It grazed her shoulder, sending sharp bolts of pain tearing through her nerves before streaking past her and slamming into the wall behind.
The entire wall burst open instantly, a deafening blast echoing outside as the lightning ball exploded into thousands of sparks.
"I will kill you!" Ava scread as the lightning around her surged, growing brighter and wilder with her anger. With a furious cry, she bolted forward at insane speed.
In less than a heartbeat, she was in front of Max, swinging her hand sideways with a force that could have split a normal human in half. But the dragon only watched the strike coming and with a bored, tired yawn, he stepped aside to let the blow pass harmlessly.
Ava refused to relent. She twisted her body sharply and swung her second hand upward in a brutal uppercut, lightning streaking behind her fingers as it shot toward Max’s chin at full speed.
[Draconic Force Palm Activated]
Max casually snapped his fingers and a shockwave erupted between them. The force sent Ava flying backwards with trendous power, but before she could slam into a wall, she slamd her hand downward. A burst of lightning exploded from her palm, stabbing into the ground and dragging her to a halt, boots screeching against the floor.
Her chest heaved, lightning still dancing around her body as she glared at the dragon with pure fury and a hint of disbelief.
Bang!
Max had already moved from where he stood, blistering toward her and appearing directly in front of her in the twinkle of an eye.
"I don’t want to harm you," Max calmly spoke as he stared down at her, his expression unreadable.
"But I do." Ava thundered as lightning burst from her feet, the force sliding her body low to the ground as she skidded right between the dragon’s legs at alarming speed.
In one smooth motion, she shot up to full height behind him, her breath sharp and cold. Without even blinking, she hurled a ball of lightning at his back from point blank range, the crackling sound fierce enough to shake the air.
Hearing the surge of electricity behind him, Max spun around instantly but was just a bit too late. He could only lift a single hand to shield himself.
Bam!
The lightning struck with lethal force, burning sharply into his skin. His sleeves disintegrated instantly, torn apart by the raw energy. When the dust finally settled, Max stood there completely unscathed, only his patience seeming to be affected.
His burnt sleeves now revealed his scaly hands and claws.
’I already suspected he was a hybrid.’ Ava clicked her tongue when she saw the reptilian features. Max simply shook his head with a tired sigh, clearly unamused.
’Her abilities look terrifying on the surface level, but digging deeper, they are not as deadly as they seem. Just h.’ Max twirled his wrist, the bored expression on his face making Ava grit her teeth harder.
"Honestly, this isn’t a fair matchup for you. I’m way above your level and I might not be able to hold back. But Jim should be." Max muttered with a wide grin.
Ava’s eyes widened as she imdiately spun around, only to see Jim’s glowing gray eyes right in front of her.
"Peek a boo!"
BAM!
Jim drove his fist straight into her face with monstrous force. The ground beneath them shattered instantly, cracks webbing across the floor as her body was launched off the ground like a ragdoll. Blood spurted from her nose as she slamd into the wall with crushing strength.
A huge dent ford, stone and brick crumbling slightly under the impact. She groaned, forcing herself to peel off the wall and collapse onto her knees. Blood ran from her nose as she coughed out specks of crimson.
"How dare you try to hurt Max?! Bitch!" Jim roared as he darted toward her again at full speed, but Ava snapped her head up.
Lightning exploded around her feet and she shot to the side at the last possible second. Jim’s fist hamred into the wall instead, the dent expanding violently before the entire section of wall collapsed into rubble around him.
He spun around with glowing eyes of pure rage, spotting the gang leader staggering back to her feet.
"That was harsh. Is that how to treat a woman?" Ava asked with a sinister grin, wiping blood from her lip.
"Suck my dick you bitch!" Jim yelled as he launched forward again.
"Gladly." Ava replied, her tone dripping with sarcasm.
Jim’s eyes widened at what he saw next, but he was already too fast, too deep into his dash to stop himself.
Balls of lightning were floating around him, about a dozen of them, all humming with lethal intent. They glowed brighter with every breath he took.
And he had charged straight into the middle of all of them.
