Chapter 179

KUK!

UGH!

CLACK!

Hunter Drey managed to push himself out of the rubble with pure struggle. His clothes were now dusty, blood dripped down his head, and his lips were stained with it as well. He looked around, scanning the area, only to spot the demon staring at him with pure anger blazing in its eyes.

"Why won’t you just die?!" The demon thundered in fury as it glared at Drey, who calmly walked out of the broken building. He stopped about a tre away from the rubble and five tres from the demon, his movents deliberate and composed.

"That was painful," Drey said coolly, dusting his hair as he scanned the battlefield. The remaining younger hunters staggered out, limping heavily as they kept their distance, watching with keen eyes, cautious but unable to look away from the sheer clash before them.

Only Max stood in the midst of battle. He maintained a distance from the demon but kept his eyes glued to every one of its movents, ready to react if needed.

Jake, on the other hand, had reverted back to his human form due to pure exhaustion. His body was battered, blood dripping from almost everywhere, yet he remained upright, wincing in pain but determined, watching the battle unfold.

"So allow to return the favour tenfold!" Drey said coolly, a sharp gleam in his red eyes. In the blink of an eye, he darted forward, appearing directly in front of the demon.

His sword glowed brighter as he drove his fist into the demon’s face with imnse force, lifting the creature completely off its feet and hurling it into a nearby building. The impact tore a gaping hole through the wall.

"You aren’t going away!" Drey shouted, slamming his foot into the ground. Like a rocket, he exploded forward, passing through the hole he had just created while the demon’s body writhed inside.

Those outside could not see the exact clash, but loud bangs echoed through the streets. The building shuddered violently, shaking as if it might collapse completely, while more explosive sounds rang out. Then...

BAM!

The demon’s body blasted out of the building with trendous force, smashing another hole into the structure. Before it could recover, it stabbed its sickles into the ground, halting itself abruptly. Its knees dug trenches into the pavent as it skidded to a stop.

Its head was bleeding, though it quickly healed. Max noticed sothing odd: the demon still carried lingering injuries on its arms.

Shooting out of the building like a missile, Drey’s sword now glowed a bright yellow. His eyes glead with anger as he appeared in front of the demon, swinging in a wide arc aid to cleave its head in two.

The demon seed to anticipate the move. It rolled aside, letting the sword smash into the ground. It then swung its foot towards the hunter with full speed, but Drey was faster, spinning and raising his sword to absorb the kick without moving an inch.

Parrying the leg, Drey imdiately swung his sword forward at the demon. It sprang to its feet, lifting its chained sickles in a sharp block. The clash sent a loud clang reverberating through the air, and the ground beneath them cracked violently, fissures spreading across tres in every direction.

The air was thick with dust and tension, both combatants locked in a deadly rhythm. Sparks flew as tal t tal and the battlefield shook with the force of their blows. Every onlooker, even from afar, could feel the raw power radiating from their fight. The younger hunters backed up instinctively, knowing that this duel was beyond their capability to intervene.

"What happened? Getting weaker?" The demon taunted as Drey’s sword glowed brighter once again. Energy coursed violently through his body, and in one swift, blinding motion, he hamred his fist straight into the demon’s stomach with such imnse force that a gaping hole tore open in a second.

The ground beneath them, already cracked from the earlier clashes, instantly shattered as chunks of rock flew into the air. The demon coughed out waves of blood, its body recoiling violently from the impact.

The sheer power of the blow sent a shockwave radiating outward, smashing windows in nearby buildings. Glass shattered and rained down, and debris scattered everywhere as the sound of destruction echoed through the streets.

BANG!

Another deafening bang followed as the demon’s body was blasted backward with brutal force. It crashed through multiple houses—one, two, three, not even five but flew farther, smashing through walls and ceilings like they were paper. Only when it struck a sturdier house did it finally slide off, blood still dripping from its mouth as it staggered to its feet.

The gaping wound in its abdon began to close, regenerating slowly. Though it healed fast, it was no longer the instant recovery it once had.

’How did that cursed hunter suddenly grow stronger and faster? That punch was too strong! Damn, he truly befits the S rank,’ the demon thought furiously. Its eyes widened as Drey smashed through another house, appearing directly in front of it. His sword glowed intensely, swinging straight at the demon’s head.

’Shit!’ the demon cursed inwardly, ducking down at the precise mont. The sword slamd into the wall behind it, cleaving a massive slash and sending chunks of debris flying.

Not wasting a second, the demon swung its weapon directly at Drey’s side, driving it in with deadly force and spraying blood outward. But Drey didn’t falter. He grit his teeth, twisted his body, and swung his leg toward the demon, forcing it to duck at the last mont to avoid the kick.

Then, like a professional fighter, the demon rugby-tackled Drey to the ground. A loud bang echoed as cracks spread across the pavent beneath them.

That wasn’t the end—its chained sickles whirled at full speed, striking toward the hunter trapped beneath it. Drey tilted his head again and again, narrowly avoiding each deadly strike by re inches, his eyes blazing with determination.

The strikes ca at insane speed, pushing the S rank to the edge, yet he refused to relent. One sickle shot directly toward his eye, stopping just inches away. With lightning reflexes, Drey lifted his sword and blocked it, the collision ringing out with a loud clang that rattled the surrounding area.

"Get away from him!" a powerful voice bood, cutting through the chaos. A kick streaked through the air, colliding with the demon’s face with such force that it was lifted off Drey’s body and hurled backward, crashing violently into the street.
