Chapter 319: 309. The Grand Opening of the Flesh and Blood Mill (15,000 words today, asking for monthly tickets)

Old Goat had actually been there all along, but he was as still as a wooden chicken, showing no reaction to Andreas’s assassination attempt. If Old Leopard Man weren’t there, he certainly would have intervened, having signed a master-servant-like contract, but with Old Leopard Man present, he had no interest whatsoever, certain that Charles couldn’t die anyway.

Charles thought that with Golden Ram Herolf and Tumishen, Sedona was surely safe. He didn’t know that after Andreas’s visit, deducing an “extrely important” piece of intelligence, the military situation in Sedona was utterly stirred up.

Even if Zhuge Liang were to travel to this other world, he couldn’t have predicted that the youngest of the Sacred Order of the Black Phoenix Dynasty would be so “nervous.”

Three days after Andreas’s assassination attempt, Chloe’s camp received two Sacred Order mbers. One was Constantine’s deputy, Munson; the other was a baron from the Empire, Darcus!

When these two soared into the sky to observe Sedona, Charles, though slow to realize, sensed that sothing was amiss.

The small city of Sedona in South Serif had been visited by three Sacred Order mbers one after another…

Charles swiftly made the sa judgnt as Andreas: the Black Phoenix Dynasty was planning a major battle in this direction.

But Charles was not at all the sa kind of person as Andreas. When Andreas concluded that Fars would attack from this direction, he reported it to the military departnt of the Black Phoenix Dynasty, requesting more reinforcents.

Charles had previously assud that Andreas’s presence was an accident, so he asked nilman for help. But once he deduced that the Black Phoenix Dynasty might launch an attack, he imdiately decided to withdraw from Sedona without a second’s hesitation.

He said to Golden Ram Herolf, “You should also take to the skies, but don’t engage in combat with them.”

He also said to Tumishen, “Please ascend and face the Sacred Order mbers of the opposing side, but there’s no need to fight. I’m going to pull the Westwind Knights out.”

Tumishen didn’t quite understand, and Old Leopard Man asked, “Why retreat when Herolf and I together could easily take on those two youngsters?”

Charles said in a low voice, “Is this how you Beastn fight wars? No wonder, in the Battle of Strasbourg, the Beastn’s elite were utterly decimated.”

“Right now, they only have two Sacred Order mbers, who are no match for you and Herolf. But what if they continue to send reinforcents?”

Charles ntioned the Battle of Strasbourg, which soured Tumishen’s expression. Old Leopard Man replied, “We can discuss that when the ti cos!”

Charles sighed and said, “By then, it’ll be too late!”

Killing a mber of the Sacred Order is very difficult; they can all fly in the sky. Unless there’s a significant speed discrepancy and an extrely large gap in strength, one can almost always escape.

Tumishen, with his speed and strength advantages, along with Dao Hai in hand, still managed to hold off Andreas until Munson arrived.

Even in the worst-case scenario, with Sedona completely besieged, Tumishen, as a master assassin, could easily escape. Charles, with the power of the Labyrinth and the Infinite Mirror Realm, would also likely manage to get away, but the Westwind Knights couldn’t; he couldn’t bear to lose this foundation.

After a few words of argunt with Old Leopard Man, Charles knew that Tumishen simply couldn’t understand why they should leave without a fight. He simply stopped explaining and issued orders instead.

Although Old Leopard Man did not understand, he still floated up into the sky and faced the two opposing Sacred Order mbers from a distance.

Charles held great prestige in Lady Southseraph’s domain. When the residents of Sedona learned that the Westwind Knights were retreating, they were reluctant to say farewell to this army that fought wars without disturbing the civilians. Many ca out of their hos to plead with them to stay.

Charles ordered his troops to leave quickly while also loudly proclaiming, “The grand army of the Black Phoenix Dynasty might invade at any ti. We, the Westwind Knights, are not strong enough to protect the people of Sedona.”

“If we were to fight here, it would surely involve Sedona’s populace in the war, leading to terrible death and destruction! I absolutely do not wish to see this happen, so we’re yielding Sedona in hopes of fighting a field battle.”

An elder shouted, “Why can’t the Westwind Knights stay and protect us in Sedona?”

Charles yelled back, “Because we can’t protect you!”

“We’re just a knighthood ford from a local military, and we’re not adept at frontal warfare.”

“The Black Phoenix Dynasty will send more reinforcents; anwhile, we have no backup. We simply can’t fight this battle.”

Imdiately, soone shouted, “Why can’t we call for reinforcents?”

Charles sighed, offering no answer.

Why were there no reinforcents? Who would co to the rescue? Lady Southseraph had formally rebelled against Fars and joined the embrace of Byron. Now, her Restoration Army was still fighting bitterly in Ferlanden for the Byron Empire, clashing with Fars’s forces.

Could they still hope for reinforcents from Fars?

Or perhaps expect help from the People of Baron?

Not to ntion whether Byron had any forces to spare, even if the People of Baron had the capacity, why would they protect the People of South Serif?

As traitors, the People of Baron had no respect for the People of South Serif.

Besides, the Vampires of Byron were not known for their reliability. The Beastn trusted that the Blood Ancestor would appear and fought a deadly battle with Fars in Strasbourg, resulting in total devastation. Several mbers of the Sacred Order died along with countless elite soldiers, setting them back decades in recovery.

Charles could understand the panic of Sedona City’s residents. The seemingly well-staged war suddenly saw the defending army preparing to leave; they would be unprotected, but he would absolutely not stay in Sedona just for these civilians.

Because it was pointless.
