Training bat skills took up much of Karl's next few weeks, as there was always something for him to learn, and [Skill Master] just didn't want to cooperate and give him the advanced versions of his new fighting skill.
Apparently, that wasn't the usual standard that the skill held everyone to, though. It had activated three times for the Elves that were training on the docks, and even Dana had managed to get one more activation out of it.
Still, he couldn't plain much, as the gains that he had made were already a massive increase in his actual bat ability, and he would be able to effectively fight a half dozen opponents at once.
It seemed that was how his development was destined to be.
Dana got all the buffs to fighting duels, and single opponents, while he was stacking up benefits that would help him against larger groups.
Some of that was undoubtedly related to their classes, as Dana did specialize in blades, while he started as a Beast Master.
But it was still an annoyance that his skill worked so much better on everyone else than it did on him.
He did still find time to do his crafting work, keeping the store stocked, but the first few weeks that they were training the Blue Elves was a busy time everywhere in the Darklight Host territory.
Even the cooks found themselves overwhelmed with work, as every one of the Lycans was bringing friends over for dinner, now that the staff had [Divine Cooking], and there was a whole new book full of unfamiliar recipes for them to try.
The only normal part of the whole time was the trip to the mining dungeon. They had done it just the same as last time, though Karl got the Tunnel Worm this time, and Rae got the manticore. But once that was over, Rae still went on a rampage through the tunnel worm nest, and they got the dungeon pletion notice without any additional fanfare or hidden areas for them to unlock.
It was a good feeling.
It also brought them a massive influx of raw materials, and that was what Karl was going to work on today.
Tian had made a bunch of new swords in the curved style that the Blue Elves liked, similar to a scimitar or Cutlass. But he had made them with a bit of a hook on the back, so they could also be used to catch weapons, as both Dana and Karl's new bat skills had techniques for.
They were a style that had lost favour, or perhaps had never made it to this world, but Tian was confident that they would be popular once Karl began to sell them.
Dana didn't plan to change, as she had gotten used to using the Guandao Halberd style of weapons that matched the {Dancing Blade of the Dana Mage} that Rue had created for her.
Rue also had gear waiting for Karl, but had decided to hold off on giving it to him until he was less focused on his training, so that he didn't bee lazy and start using gear as a crutch.
For all the gear that he turned out, he didn't actually put too much effort into what he used for himself.
That was great for his development, but it was likely limiting his peak performance.
A full set of specifically targeted gear, aimed at improving the abilities of contracted beasts and summoned creatures would give him the sort of massive advantage that very few would be able to overe, even if Karl didn't have the beasts with him.
But if he added bonuses to his personal bat skills as well, it would be without a doubt pletely unfair to nine out of ten immortals.
That was already a feeling that Karl got when he was fighting the dungeon bosses.
Sure, it wasn't a fast fight if it was just him. But one on one, he didn't lose to any of the ones in this dungeon, even though it was technically ranked slightly higher than he was.
Most of that was because the dungeon bosses usually had limited numbers of skills, even if they were intelligent creatures. It was most likely a function of the dungeons restrictions, and it limited the use that they were outside the dungeon as summoned constructs, but it did make for a fairly predictable difficulty level once you knew their maximum output.
Karl stared at the pile of loot in front of him, and pondered what he was going to grab.
Today felt like a crafting bonus sort of day, he decided. It was too laid back to be a bat item type of day, and he had already finished the standardized items for the shop.
So, he would make more items for their most dedicated workers.
The cooks.
Never mind the fact that everyone else worked all day as well, the cooks definitely deserved a little bit of extra love for the joy that they brought the Darklight Host.
The most obvious first option were amulets as the cooks usually didn't wear jewellery on their hands and wrists while cooking.
So, Karl began to sketch out the options, intending to make matched items for as many of the cooks as possible.
The bonuses were simple, a chance to improve the quality of a crafted item was the core of the bonuses, and then bonuses to agility and mana recovery, so that they didn't exhaust their mana pool making more plex dishes.
It didn't sound like much, but the inscription to give a bonus to a crafting skill was not an easy one, and Karl was specifically targeting Divine Cooking, which was a high level skill.
It was a good thing that he picked to do them on a necklace.
Nothing else would have space, and this was almost so much that he should have put it on a full armour piece instead. But the bunnies and the priestesses had very different fashion senses, and the priestesses could not be relied upon to wear more than an apron while cooking.
And the aprons were left at the cooking stations.
