Sam believed that the deadliest knives were often not the sharpest.

And the most terrifying words were often spoken nonchalantly.

Just like this woman now, who excelled at uttering sweat-inducing statents with an air of casual indifference.

Sam looked at her.

His expression did not betray him, and his passive deanor, a result of his Temptation Constitution, made the emotions in his eyes difficult to discern.

But inside, Sam was far from calm.

All he could think about was why this woman would say such a thing.

Could it be that Angel had said sothing? It seed unlikely, as that girl was not the type to ask for help, confident that she could handle anything perfectly on her own.

To suggest she needed to ask others for help would almost be an insult to her capabilities, so that possibility was virtually ruled out.

That left only one likely explanation: Sam's interactions with Celeste were minimal, so she must have had soone keeping an eye on his every move.

It made sense, after all, Angel was her only daughter. Despite verbally expressing trust and even considering him like a godson, how could she be completely at ease without full assurance about her daughter's boyfriend?

Was it possible that their investigation had unearthed sothing?

Sam quickly pieced together these thoughts in a mont.

Without any superfluous action, he calmly took a sip of tea.

"Other won... are you referring to my family and sister?"

Celeste was sowhat surprised by the young man's reaction.

He was calr than she had anticipated, which seed to her like a flaw.

Celeste couldn't help but laugh. "When soone hears slander about themselves, shouldn't they appear more surprised? Suppressing your emotions too much can seem deliberate, inadvertently proving the truth of my statent. Sam, you seem not quite mature enough yet."

For soone as seasoned as Celeste, Sam definitely lacked maturity.

However, Sam didn't show any signs of panic.

He just gave a wry smile and said, "I just feel like nothing can escape your eyes. If you've already made up your mind and have enough evidence, anything I say might seem like a lie."

Celeste elegantly took a sip of tea, and Sam could clearly see a few droplets of water gently sliding down her beautiful lips, quickly wiped away by her index finger.

"That sounds manly. But... you've said before, whether soone is manly depends on what he does, not what he says. From what I understand, you haven't quite satisfied ."

Indeed, this woman seed to know so minor details, or rather, so obvious clues. Like the existence of Sophie, or the few won he had been seen with frequently lately. Sam didn't want to guess who it might be; if she really wanted to take action, she wouldn't wait until now to specifically tell him these things.

It seed that her showing up at the school gate today to take him ho had so other purpose.

Realizing this, Sam smiled.

"I'm sorry, I'm not a perfect man, and indeed, I can't satisfy you in every aspect. But I think overall, I'm a decent man."

"Heh, is that so? Do you know that for a woman, being unfaithful can be considered utterly despicable?"

Sam blinked.

"Angel is my only girlfriend."

"What I an is, if one day you get married, will there still be countless mistresses for you to enjoy? Since you like having a harem so much, do you know what the treatnt was for a prince consort in ancient China?"

Sam certainly knew.

Being a princess's consort might seem glorious, but for any ambitious man, it was a life where you could see the end from the beginning. Not only would you have no dignity in front of the princess, but you also couldn't have any mistresses or any political future.

Was this a hint that Sam should be aware of his place by Angel's side?

But Sam had never thought of becoming a prince consort.

"I'm not quite sure about that... but there are no prince consorts in this era anyway. And there are so things Angel is very clear about; I wouldn't deceive her."

"Is that so? As long as a lie remains undiscovered, anyone can claim honesty. But from what I know, it doesn't seem to be the case."

Sam nodded.

"I'm not saying that the things Godmother knows are false, but I can only say that these things haven't deceived Angel."

This made Celeste frown.

It seed she understood what Sam ant. Was he suggesting that so of his actions were condoned by her daughter?

That seed impossible.

She knew her daughter well; she was the type who would rather see a million others suffer than suffer herself. Such matters would be a great offense and insult to her; Angel would never just swallow her pride.

Unless this young man could perform magic.

But clearly, Sam had no supernatural abilities.

Celeste grew more displeased, her gaze turning even colder.

"You should know, no matter how she feels, as her mother, I will definitely not..."

"Isn't Godmother hoping that Angel might change a bit, or to put it more honestly, aren't you hoping that your relationship with Angel could beco normal?"

Sam's sudden statent caught her off guard.

At least Celeste hadn't expected him to say that.

She paused, her expression imdiately shifting.

"What did you say?"

Her suppressed voice conveyed her unstable emotions.

But this was the effect Sam was aiming for.

If he let this woman remain too comfortable, there was no doubt that Sam would be completely under her control, given her ample experience in taking the initiative.

So, Sam had no choice but to tentatively drop this explosive piece of information.

By disrupting her emotions, he might gain a chance to breathe.

Otherwise, being led by the nose, the status quo would remain unchanged, and he would still face significant resistance.

Sam calmly watched Celeste, though internally he was nervous, facing such a formidable woman was undeniably stressful.

Still, he had to try, even if the chances were slim.

"Hmm... I believe I heard you clearly, Godmother. You're talking about changing Angel, but why would a mother want to change her daughter if she's living well?"

"Is she normal?"

"Of course, she seems perfectly normal to . So, I think, Godmother, you're not really trying to change her, but rather you hope to nd your relationship with her, right? It appears harmonious, everything seems normal, but there's an unease you can't quite express, as if to outsiders it looks like a normal mother-daughter relationship, but...

you must be acutely aware of the distance between you and Angel now."

Hearing Sam say this, Celeste naturally felt offended. Her expression turned utterly cold as she looked at Sam.

"Do you think because I accepted you as my godson you can speak so recklessly? Or do you think Angel's presence gives you so sort of immunity? You dare to speculate about my feelings?"

Watching Celeste suppress her raging anger, deliberately maintaining a cold deanor, Sam knew this was a critical mont.

His response needed to be cautious, like navigating a dungeon challenge in a ga, where one wrong choice could an facing an insurmountable elite enemy, or even the big boss.

Even though her entire deanor seed like a drawn bow, ready to strike, Sam had to stay calm and say his piece.

"It doesn't matter whether I'm speculating about your feelings or not, what's important is... Godmother, do you want to fulfill this wish?"

A wish?

Celeste coldly stood up, her normally attractive figure now seed imposing, a sheer force bearing down.

Almost overwhelmingly so.

She now stood before Sam, looking down on him from her elevated position, like an enhanced version of Angel.

Luxury PLUS.

"Who do you think you are? Even if I had such intentions, do you think you can negotiate with just because you've observed these things? Think you can cover up your own issues? Don't overthink it. After all, we are mother and daughter, and so things aren't as simple as you think. If you really believe that you can turn the situation around with just one sentence...

Sam, I can only ask: are you tired of living?"

It was the first ti she had directly threatened Sam like this.

It felt like a crisis was everywhere, the pressure instantly maxed out.

But at least it was clear that this ti Sam had truly shaken her emotions, in an unprecedented way.

It was both dangerous and potentially an opportunity.

Sam didn't remain passive; he stood up.

He faced her directly, her gaze dangerous and instinctively frightening.

The young man with clear eyes spoke in a steady voice.

"I'm a terrible person, perhaps even despicable, not as innocent as I claim. I can't deny that, but what I've always wanted most is for everyone to be happy, including you."

"What a joke! Your way of making everyone happy is through deception, through being a womanizer? You're ambitious and restless, thinking about what you want to do—don't think I don't know. Now you're playing the gentle male lead? Acting like you have a hard ti. Sam, life isn't a soap opera.

Do you think you're the main character with a halo, that you really won't die?!"

Celeste's voice grew fierce.

If she had a gun in her hand, Sam had no doubt she might shoot, and he didn't doubt that.

He took a deep breath.

He looked up.

"What if I say this is the only way?"

"What makes you think you can convince ? What proof do you have? Your worthless life?"

Sam glanced at the glaring light.

No.

He wouldn't lose his life, not now, not anything.

"Godmother. I will make Angel tell you she loves you."

"What?"
