Chapter 235: Chapter 239: The Haunted Old House (8)
Otherwise, Lin Mianmian’s rundown Daoist Temple atop her hill barely knew two or three incomplete Taoist Skills, which hardly qualified her to take on missions with elite disciples from various sects.
The violent cri scene at the burial ground had already been cordoned off with yellow tape. The sight of the gruesoly dismbered bodies proved too much for the group of junior disciples, who were all in their early twenties; both n and won vomited uncontrollably.
The most grueso thing Lin Mianmian had ever seen in her life was witnessing the bloody scene of chicken slaughtering in the houses at the foot of the mountain. She hardly anticipated a far more terrifying image suddenly assaulting her tender heart causing her to withstand the shock without fainting, a testimony to her robust nerves.
anwhile, two other girls hadn’t fared well; one had legs so weak she couldn’t stand straight while another had rolled her eyes back and fainted into a man’s arms.
Lin Mianmian wasn’t doing any better, either. She leaned against a small tree nearby, vomiting so hard that bile ca up too. Her mouth tasted bitter and astringent, her mind was filled with the ghastly blood-stained images, and she didn’t dare let her eyes wander toward the dismbernt site for fear of nightmares.
Their eting was off to a bad start.
Lin Mianmian wondered if it was just her impression. It was a brilliantly sunny day, and the sun had been in clear sight just a mont ago, but now it seed to have hidden behind the clouds, casting a sowhat gloomy shade over the scene.
It got dark unusually quickly, and it didn’t look like rain was coming. The weather forecast hadn’t ntioned rain today either.
Lin Mianmian let her thoughts wander furiously, attempting to distract herself from the revolting images lest they make her feel nauseous again.
Lin Mianmian and the others had already concluded that a ghost was responsible for the case, believing that even the cruelest of murderers wouldn’t employ such bloody thods.
The thick scent of blood in the air and the bits of flesh scattered among the grass were unsettling.
Fortunately, it wasn’t long before a van drove up with several people inside.
The leader was Fang Zheng, who had just been arguing with Jing Hao at the police station.
Upon seeing the two girls nearly fainting, he frowned but said nothing and simply asked others to help them into the vehicle.
The only girl left, Lin Mianmian, caught Fang Zheng’s attention who comnted, “You, have good courage.”
Receiving praise from her senior brother instantly restored the Primordial Qi Lin Mianmian had lost.
Thrilled, she followed closely beside Fang Zheng, now even able to withstand another glimpse of the dismbered bodies.
Fatty Cui had told Gu Shi about the brutal events taking place at the suburban burial ground, causing him to rage about the Daoists not clarifying the dangers to him; otherwise, he wouldn’t have agreed to let Lin Mianmian go.
Gu Shi hurried to the cri scene, worried about the tender-hearted Lin Mianmian getting frightened, but that scene never occurred.
Arriving at the burial ground with worry and annoyance alongside two Daoists, Gu Shi was greeted with the sight of Lin Mianmian cheerfully following a man.
This irked him thoroughly. Scowling, he got out of his car and beckoned to Lin Mianmian, “Mianmian, co here.”
But Lin Mianmian was utterly uninterested in leaving; she was impressed by how Brother Fang could discern that the cri was committed by a female ghost with about twenty years of Taoist cultivation based rely on the traces of yin energy around.
Moreover, Brother Fang was not only proficient but also good-looking and humorous, occasionally making Lin Mianmian burst into uncontrollable laughter.
Covering her reddened face, which did not suit the current scene, Lin Mianmian was even less inclined to leave her senior brother.
This caused Gu Shi’s scowl to deepen to the point where it almost seed he could drip ink.
Gu Shi imdiately shot a jealous and sharp glare at Fang Zheng.
Fang Zheng didn’t take it to heart at all. Instead, he leaned a bit closer to Lin Mianmian and threw a casually provocative glance at Gu Shi while slowly saying, “Junior Sister Lin, it seems soone is calling you… Is that your boyfriend?”
Lin Mianmian first blushed imnsely from the warm breath Fang Zheng sprayed across her nape, and upon clearly hearing his question, she hastily raised her palm-sized face in a frantic nod, “No, no, it’s not that. I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“He’s just a regular friend of mine.”
Fang Zheng, “Surna Gu, huh? Must be the Gu Family’s young master.” He had seen plenty of such young masters, even their parents would act all submissive and polite when they t him.
“That’s good, if you had a boyfriend, I guess I would’ve been heartbroken for a while.”
Lin Mianmian’s heart thumped uncontrollably, and she stuttered, “Wh, why?”
Fang Zheng smiled without answering, his affectionate gaze making Lin Mianmian feel as though she had just been tumbled through hot water.
Gu Shi was so furious he almost exploded on the spot and wanted to rush over imdiately, but Fatty Cui, quick to act, grabbed him and whispered, “That’s Fang Zheng, the president’s eldest grandson and the next candidate for president. Don’t offend him lightly.”
In such a serious situation, didn’t he see that none of the others even acknowledged Fang Zheng’s flirting?
It was an offense too costly, despite Fang Zheng’s young age, he mastered the Taoist Skill completely from his elders.
Neither Fatty Cui nor Bearded Xue wanted to antagonize him.
With Su Li no longer ddling between Gu Shi and Lin Mianmian, Fang Zheng erged instead.
However, Fang Zheng was not like the original owner; he wasn’t a person of power yet had the ability to make those in power step aside. Gu Shi wasn’t sure how to confront him.
The anger accumulated from Jing Hao’s place, seeing a prince gasping with rage, improved his mood a lot.
That’s simply the obnoxious nature of Fang Zheng.
“Wuu Wuu Wuu…” The sound of police sirens grew from faint to loud.
Fang Zheng fought, arms crossed and smiling, already decided that unless respectfully invited, he absolutely would not lend a hand.
Sensing the increasingly dense yin energy in the air, Fang Zheng’s smile on his face deepened.
“Police… Unrelated persons, all clear out.”
“Make way, serious cri scene, do not tamper or we reserve the right to prosecute you.”
As soon as the police opened the doors, a large team spilled out.
Upon their arrival, they took control of the area, ready to expel the few irrelevant individuals present.
The police’s assertiveness left both Fang Zheng and Gu Shi with very unpleasant expressions.
Fang Zheng, “Are you sure? Don’t bla for not warning you if sothing goes wrong later.”
Gu Shi, “I am the general manager of Gu Group…”
The stern police officer, “No matter who you are, leave imdiately, right now.”
“Otherwise, we will arrest you for obstructing judicial procedures.”
Fang Zheng, “Heh, if that’s the case, then bear the consequences yourselves.”
