Chapter 161: Chapter 165 The Woman Who Married into a Wealthy Family (25) Chapter 161: Chapter 165 The Woman Who Married into a Wealthy Family (25) Lijing Private Hospital, VIP room on the third floor

A gaunt boy with a pallid complexion was sitting cross-legged on the hospital bed, staring intently at the large screen television mounted on the wall.

On the television was the live broadcast of the international violin competition.

“Ming Ting, Mommy bought you strawberries, they’re all washed, co and eat them.”

Huayin, holding a small basket of strawberries that were washed clean and neatly arranged, along with so other fruits, entered the room.

After setting the items on a cabinet beside her, she noticed the television program her son was watching.

Seeing the sparkle in Yuan Mingting’s eyes, her heart ached, and she managed a smile, “When you’re better, Ming Ting, we’ll participate in this competition next year.”

Yuan Mingting’s face, which used to exude a sunny and handso charm, was now wrought with sickness, leaving only a desolate and wilted aura, at such a young age he seed cloaked in an air of lancholy.

Hearing Huayin’s voice, his eyes did not leave the television screen for a mont; he replied coldly, “This competition isn’t held every year, it happens every five years. By the next one, I may no longer have the chance to participate.”

Unfazed by Ming Ting’s icy tone, Huayin, hearing his pessimistic words, panicked and quickly shook her head, “No, that’s not true… Your illness will be cured soon, Daddy and Mommy already have a way.”

Hearing this, Yuan Mingting’s mind stirred, a glimr of hope lit up in his eyes and though he tried to conceal it, one could sense the excitent in his voice, tempered only by the too many disappointnts that caused him to cautiously restrain his emotions.

“Really? Is there really still hope for to live?”

With her eyes covered, tears flowed through Huayin’s fingers as she nodded repeatedly, “There is, there is…”

Yuan Mingting, upon hearing his mother’s affirmative answer, wanted to believe but feared a deeper disappointnt that might follow.

He turned his head back to the screen, “I’ve already passed the Eleventh Level for violin, and my teacher even ntioned before, urging to join this year’s competition, certain that I could win a big prize.”

However, unexpectedly now, he could only sit on the hospital bed, vicariously watching others shine on stage through the television.

“Look, that’s a Chinese kid about my age.”

Yuan Mingting’s eyes sparkled as he watched the boy on television, roughly his own age, imagining if he hadn’t fallen ill, perhaps that could have been him standing there.

Following her son’s gaze, Huayin casually glanced over.

Just like that, her eyes locked in an instant, unable to move away, fixated on the boy on the television who had begun to play.

Likewise, Yuan Mingting’s attention was captured by the dazzling figure on the screen, oblivious to his mother’s changing deanor.

The more Huayin watched, the greater the shock that surged within her.

That was Hua Xinghe…

Oh no, he had changed his na, as the television had just introduced him, he was now called Su Wuchen.

How dare he, how could he, how was he able to stand on that stage?

Witnessing the envious gleam in Ming Ting’s eyes, Huayin felt boundless anger rising within her.

This child was supposed to live timidly and inferiorly like a pitiful creature, then being trampled into the dust by her own son, not like now…

“Mom, this boy is playing so well, very professionally, his skill should be on par with mine…”

Yuan Mingting’s words of appreciation had not yet fully left his lips when he was abruptly interrupted by Huayin’s piercing voice, “No, he’s not even close to your…”

Yuan Mingting was startled by Huayin’s sudden neuroticism and shrank his shoulders, dumbfoundedly calling out, “Mommy…”

Since falling ill, his heart had beco exceptionally delicate and sensitive, and the slightest misstep in speech could plunge him into emotional distress.

Huayin also realized that her reaction had been too intense and was about to explain when soone angrily pushed open the door of the hospital room.

“How dare you speak to Mingting like that as his mother? If it weren’t for the fact that you’re his biological mother and have taken good care of him, I’d have thrown you out a long ti ago.”

Mulan, carrying a thermal container, scolded Huayin with an unfriendly expression, then turned to Yuan Qiran, who was following behind her, and said, “Look at this, this is the woman you’re going to marry into the family, utterly disgraceful.”

Tears brimd in Huayin’s eyes, but defiantly, she refused to let them fall, humbly and silently moving aside, not retorting to Mulan’s words.

This behavior of Huayin’s provoked Mulan’s anger even further.

She was fed up with the other woman’s ek deanor, like attacking a mass of cotton, neither soft nor firm, making her unbearably uncomfortable.

No matter how much she insulted the other woman, Huayin remained silent and immovable, casting her instead as a wicked mother-in-law.

Although that was indeed the case, Mulan certainly didn’t see it that way.

Yuan Qiran narrowed his eyes slightly, first checking Mingting’s condition, before shifting his gaze to the two won.

He did not look at Huayin, but instead frowned at his own mother, saying, “Mom, be mindful of the place, Mingting is still here.”

“After all, she’s the child’s biological mother, at least give Mingting so face…”

Huayin felt a chill inside her. Although the temperature in the room was comfortable, a deep cold welled up from the bottom of her heart, making her want to curl up in a corner against the wall.

Her own husband hadn’t said his mother’s words were inappropriate, nor had he defended her, but only out of concern for the uncomfortable situation his son would be in did he speak up to stop her. He probably also thought she wasn’t good enough to be seen in public.

Had she known it would be like this, why did she even strive to run to his side? She would have been better off maintaining the status quo of the past few years.

At least, at that ti, she was a positive presence in his mind.

Mulan also noticed the unpleasant look on Mingting’s face, as well as the sympathy for Huayin.

The many complaints she originally had for this daughter-in-law were swallowed back down.

After all, she had doted on her grandson for several years; she couldn’t let a dispensable woman drive a wedge between them.

Huayin, wallowing in self-pity, suddenly rembered the television that was playing and looked up sharply, and what sank her heart further was that Yuan Qiran had already noticed the child on the TV screen emitting a dazzling glow.

“Qi, Qiran… have so fruit…” Huayin, in a flurry, reached out to pull Yuan Qiran over, but he was intent on watching the TV, completely still, leaving Huayin’s small arms and legs, despite several tugs, unable to budge him.

By now, the performance had ended, and it was ti for the judges’ comnts.

Several sharp and harsh foreign judges, however, unanimously gave extrely high ratings.

And even though he received such high praise, the boy on the big stage was neither humble nor arrogant, with a faint smile on his lips, exuding poise despite his young age.

Seeing such a Yuan Qiran made Huayin more and more panic-stricken.

The excellence of Su Wuchen made her own child seem dull by comparison, and more importantly, that child had a healthy body.

She was very afraid, afraid that Yuan Qiran, seeing such an excellent child, would choose to abandon her own Mingting.
