The students hardly had any ti. Just within a few words, the class bell rang.

The serious English teacher entered from outside, carrying teaching materials, and stood on the podium.

The slightly noisy conversation below vanished completely, as everyone straightened up and looked attentively towards the podium.

The English teacher’s tense expression slightly relaxed, but his gaze fell on the two empty seats in the second last row, and he frowned.

Students underneath felt more tense as well.

Their senior English teacher was nicknad the Master of Extinction—a very serious and rigid little old lady, known for her exceptional teaching abilities and harsh manner.

Her sharp tongue could criticize you to the point of doubting your existence. Thus, she was also known as the Devil Old Lady.

Even the naughtiest student and the school bully reigning over this district had to behave obediently like a good baby in front of her.

Though Teacher Li was just an ordinary high school teacher, her children were far from ordinary.

Each one was remarkable, and they doted on their mother.

The entire school dared not provoke the Devil Old Lady.

Su Li heard the boy sitting in front of her mumble in a barely audible voice, "Why is the first class hers? The people who are late today are in trouble..."

Su Li also recalled that the original owner was quite afraid of this little old lady.

However, their class’s English lessons used to be scheduled either as the last two periods in the morning or the afternoon, so why today...

Su Li inconspicuously glanced at the two empty seats next to her.

Those were Moli’s and Li Hua’s seats.

The two of them were late today...

I forgot to ntion, the original owner used to ask the driver to circle half the city every morning to pick them up for school, and also brought them delicious hot breakfasts—which never repeated once in 365 days.

But Su Li couldn’t manage it; is gasoline not expensive or is her ti too cheap?

"Seems so students don’t like attending my classes. Since they enjoy being absent, perhaps don’t attend my class from now on..."

Li Hua, panting heavily, dragged Moli up the stairs and from a distance heard Master of Extinction’s sinister voice from the classroom.

Her heart imdiately sank with a bad premonition hitting her forehead.

When she braked sharply at the classroom door, she heard the final words from Master of Extinction: don’t attend my class from now on.

Li Hua, feeling guilty, knocked on the door and softly called out "Reporting," interrupting the end of Master of Extinction’s sentence.

This made Teacher Li’s stern face appear even more frightening.

Moli almost entirely shrank behind Li Hua’s back, feeling aggrieved but still couldn’t help scanning the classroom.

As she saw Su Li sitting carelessly in her seat spinning a pen, her overwhelming grievance made tears imdiately pool up.

This worsened Teacher Li’s mood further; her early morning good feeling was ruined.

Students these days, so pretentious and don’t learn properly.

She hadn’t said anything yet, but this little girl acted like being bullied by her, or as if she were a heinous villain.

Noticing Moli’s off-kilter mood, Li Hua grew anxious and hurriedly apologized to the teacher on the platform: "Sorry, Teacher, we’re late."

Teacher Li detested students being late more than anything in her class. Second detested were students who would cry like beans for no apparent reason, even more loathed were students who made mistakes but were unwilling to admit it....

Li Hua and Moli had stepped on all her sore points, making the little old lady lose any interest in teaching.

People in the school knew that though Master of Extinction was cold, if she was willing to scold you, she still considered you her student and didn’t want to give up on you.

If she didn’t even bother to say one harsh word or give any punishnt, that’s when things were really serious.

Just like now... the little old lady pursed her lips, quickly regaining calm, as if she wasn’t the one who had been coldly sarcastic earlier, rely waving her hand lightly towards the two little girls at the door and said, "Co in."

Teacher Li kept her gaze lowered, attention on the textbook in hand, and after that sentence completely ignored Moli and Li Hua.

"Now, turn to page seventy-four, today we’ll discuss..."

As Li Hua released a sigh of relief, she felt embarrassed, sensing countless disdainful and strange looks directed at her from around the classroom.

She quickly pulled a dazed Moli and both hurriedly returned to their seats.

After putting down her schoolbag, Moli would always seize the chance during the teacher’s inattentiveness ahead to cast questioning eyes at Su Li.

Confusion mixed with so bla....

Finally, when the dismissal bell rang, Moli rushed to Su Li’s side and interrogated, "Ah Lee, why didn’t you co and pick us up today?" We ended up late and got scolded by Master of Extinction.

Though Moli didn’t say the latter sentence out loud, her face clearly spelled it out.

Li Hua also ca over looking displeased, arms crossed, evidently waiting for Su Li’s explanation.

Su Li was almost amused by anger.

Indeed, giving them an inch, they asked for a mile... spoiled them.

"The area where you live has uneven terrain, lots of stones and glass on the road, cars struggle to pass, and besides, our houses are quite a ways apart, always coming and going, it’s too troubleso."

"Besides...." Su Li smiled and looked up, "We didn’t make any arrangent."

Moli covered her mouth in shock and disbelief, eager to retort, "But these are nothing for you...."

Su Li intercepted Moli’s words, "Yes, yes, yes, these are nothing to , but what if I don’t want to anymore."

Her family had plenty of money and cars, even if they scraped a few in a month it was no big deal, but whose money is ant for squandering like this?

Others might not feel the pain, but isn’t she allowed to

Su Li seriously suggested, "You’re better off taking the bus; it’s convenient."

"The bus station is just a few steps from your house, and after passing through a dozen stops, it goes straight to the school, extrely convenient."

Moli frowned, annoyed, "But the bus is crowded and stinky, noisy and chaotic...."

The classmates around who had been eavesdropping on their conversation imdiately soured, one by one visibly upset.

So impatient ones quickly retorted sarcastically, "Yes, yes, yes, taking a bus sullies your status of a noble Lady, we lowly folk aren’t fit to stand with you...."

Most of them commuted by bus to school, including those sharing the sa bus line as Moli.

"A noble Lady living in a slum."

They had been classmates in high school for two or three years, who wouldn’t know who by now?
