Xiao Li covertly pinched Xiao Tong’s palm from behind and whispered, "Let’s go back and find my mom and the others."
Su Li smiled and glanced at Xiao Li: This girl is quite sharp.
Xiao Tong was still hesitating, so Su Li gave him a gentle push on the shoulder, "Go on."
The River God Temple was built outside the village, right next to the Tongtian River. However, with the pace of two children, they would have to stumble through a small grove in the dark. By the ti the villagers discovered them, things here would probably be nearly concluded.
After the two kids left, stumbling and bumping into each other, Su Li leisurely began to examine the temple, which the villagers had built at great expense.
He adjusted the wick, making the light brighter, so Su Li could see more clearly.
The large pillars and beams in the temple have been painted with gold lacquer.
In the dim light earlier, Su Li hadn’t noticed. Now, with the candlelight shining on it, the spacious temple appeared resplendent everywhere.
An imdiate sense of nouveau riche.
Could it be because the Great King of Numinous Power was a golden fish spirit, he especially liked golden things?
Just wondering if this gold-lusting creature also likes producing gold.
Around the offering table, fruits and peanuts were laid out in a circle. Su Li casually picked up a fresh, juicy cucumber and started to munch on it.
Through the long night with nothing to do, Su Li could only pass the ti with food.
The ground was littered with fruit pits and nutshells, and the sound of cracking seeds echoed in the quiet space, pushing back the thick darkness a bit.
Just as Su Li was bored out of his mind, cracking seeds and circling the offering table for the fifty-eighth ti, a fierce wind suddenly howled in from outside, making the curtains in the temple flap noisily.
The Great King of Numinous Power, who ca with high hopes to enjoy the offerings on ti, was displeased at seeing the temple doors wide open from afar.
He decided that if this year’s offerings didn’t satisfy him exceptionally, he would certainly unleash punishnt upon them.
Once he stepped into the temple, the variety of scents hitting his nose softened his displeased expression sowhat.
He strode inside in a strutting posture, head held high, chest puffed out, but suddenly, he froze.
Sothing wasn’t right.....
It seed he hadn’t caught the pure scent of the children he loved so much?
The Great King of Numinous Power didn’t think those villagers dared to deceive him and just assud there was sothing wrong with his nose, that he had slled incorrectly.
He twitched his nose, stretched his neck forward, and took several deep sniffs quickly.
Still nothing.
Yet, the air carried another scent, faint but impossible to ignore.
Instinctively, his steps started retreating.
When he ca to his senses, he felt baffled as well.
In his subconscious, he didn’t want to move further inward, as if he was about to encounter so monstrous creature.
The Great King of Numinous Power laughed off his montary wild thoughts; what monstrous creature? Wasn’t he the fiercest one himself?
With a grin revealing sharp, icy teeth, he increased his pace inside.
He wanted to see just what kind of tricks those villagers were playing.
Su Li waited and waited, yet the Great King of Numinous Power was nowhere to be seen, even though he had clearly heard his commotion awhile ago.
Finally, after much calling from Su Li, the Great King of Numinous Power appeared.
Wearing a golden helt, clad in golden armor, with a waist surrounded by jewels and jade, the style of his smoky-yellow boots was unusual.
Having seen this, it was clear this was a quite particular demon.
Having dressed himself in a no-nonsense manner, he was indeed not in the sa league as the wild spirits and specters of the Lower Realm.
Looking at his appearance, with a prominent nose, broad forehead, bulging bright eyes, sharp steely teeth; holding a copper hamr in his hand.
Hmm, stacking all these adjectives on him seed a bit of a waste... to put it simply, he was a fish-headed humanoid.
His eyes were round and bulging—weren’t goldfish eyes just like that?
Dressed impressively, but his appearance was terrifying.
Su Li scanned him up and down, scornfully spat out, "Ugly freak."
The Great King of Numinous Power’s bulging eyes pushed out even further, making his appearance even more terrifying.
If it had been two kids left here, they would have been terrified to the point of scrambling away.
This, trying to impersonate an Immortal, couldn’t even get his appearance right, yet ca out to scare people; sothing seed amiss.
Even the Great King of Numinous Power found it puzzling; how had his Child Boy and virgin been replaced by a great beauty?
The beauty was beautiful and quite to his liking, but the necessary offerings could not be lacking.
Here he was angered by the villagers’ incompetence, when suddenly he heard a terrifyingly loud "ugly freak."
The ugly freak, was that referring to ?
"I was even thinking of taking you back to my palace, making you a madam of mine, and who would have thought you’d be so rude. In that case, I’ll swallow you whole and see if this beauty’s flesh is as tender as a youth’s."
The Great King of Numinous Power grinned, his steel-spiked teeth emitting a grinding sound, lifting his pair of Nine-petal Red Copper Hamrs, swung them fiercely at Su Li.
This pair of Nine-petal Red Copper Hamrs was rumored to be flower buds from the Lotus Pond, Su Li looked at them a bit more, as the hamrs neared him.
The scene the Great King of Numinous Power imagined—heads cracked, brain matter splattering—didn’t appear. The Red Copper Hamr was blocked by an invisible barrier at a re half-inch above Su Li’s head.
The Great King of Numinous Power sensed sothing amiss, imdiately wanting to retreat.
This was supposed to be an ordinary mortal woman, yet how could she withstand his blow?
Could it be so great deity from the Upper Realm has descended to experience the mortal world?
In a short span, the Great King of Numinous Power imagined many things, yet he couldn’t draw back now, unless he relinquished the hamrs in his grip.
The Red Copper Hamr seed to have sunk into the stickiest swamp, no matter the force he applied; the pair of Red Copper Hamrs were entrapped in the void.
"This little demon is unaware of Mount Tai, not knowing which great deity or Bodhisattva has descended. I plead for leniency," the Great King of Numinous Power inquired cautiously.
This demon was indeed flexible, but his nurous evildoings were nauseating.
Su Li offered no answer, and the Great King of Numinous Power, with so remaining pluck, declared, "I am but a golden fish spirit from Guanyin’s Lotus Pond, if I’ve offended an Immortal, I beg for your understanding."
Confronted with the Great King of Numinous Power’s foul breath, Su Li was more intrigued by the flower buds above him.
No doubt, being from the Bodhisattva’s Lotus Pond, with surrounding Immortal Energy, coupled with such an ugly golden fish spirit... it was tarnishing the dignity of the Immortal Artifact.
With a re reach, the Red Copper Hamr fell into Su Li’s hand.
A golden light rose in Su Li’s palm, and with a few squeezes on the Red Copper Hamr, the cumberso tool reverted to its original form.
A nine-petal flower bud appeared in Su Li’s hand.
The Great King of Numinous Power felt as if his spirit was greatly wounded, as if a piece of flesh was ripped from his heart, spurting out a mouthful of foul-slling blood.
As the blood hit the ground, it made a sizzling sound.
