"Do you still rember what the talisman that Immortal Zhen drew for you looked like?" Qin Feng asked.
"I rember! I rember! That talisman was different from the others, I can still rember it now, very clearly."
"Can you draw a rough sketch of it?"
"I can!"
Luo Qiujue went to find Chen Youqiang’s pencil and exercise book for practicing his writing and began to draw with serious attention.
Talisman drawing may seem simple in design, but it’s actually quite complex to execute. Even art students who try to copy a talisman might not get it right. However, Luo Qiujue actually managed to do it.
Although there were so minor discrepancies in her drawing, it was remarkably close to the original.
Qin Feng recognized it at first glance—it was a particular kind of talisman.
This was a Soul-Stabilizing Talisman!
After Chen Ergou entered that cave and got eaten by Black Dragon, having this talisman in his pocket would prevent his soul from scattering, but instead, it would trap his soul right there.
Without a doubt, Immortal Zhen must have collected Chen Ergou’s soul.
Seeing Qin Feng staring blankly at the talisman she drew, Luo Qiujue furrowed her brows and asked, "Is there sothing wrong with this talisman?"
"This is a Soul-Stabilizing Talisman. After your husband entered the cave, even if he was eaten by Black Dragon, his soul wouldn’t scatter. Instead, it would be trapped there. Then, soone would go and collect his soul," Qin Feng explained.
Hearing this, Luo Qiujue was dumbstruck.
She looked at Qin Feng, and with a face full of fear, she asked, "Are you saying that Immortal Zhen wants to collect my husband’s soul?"
"Why did you suddenly go to that cave to gather herbs while you were pregnant?"
"Back then, I heard people say that there were many precious herbs there, and Immortal Zhen was buying them at high prices, so I went."
At this point, Luo Qiujue smacked her thigh and suddenly understood.
"Could it be that all of this was ticulously arranged by that old bastard Zhen Haoren?" she asked in sudden realization.
"Without concrete evidence, I can’t say for sure. However, you can give Immortal Zhen’s address. I’ll pay him a visit myself, to take a look at his illness, to ’et’ him," Qin Feng said.
"When will you treat my son’s illness?"
"The curse on your son might not have been cast by Black Dragon; it could also be the doing of Immortal Zhen.
If it really is Immortal Zhen’s handiwork, to restore your son to normal, we’ll have to find him! So, don’t be anxious.
Since I’ve promised to help you, I’ll certainly do my utmost."
Leaving Luo Qiujue’s house, Qin Feng carried a rooster in one hand and a hen in the other.
He planned to barbecue the rooster and stew the hen.
The situation at Qiuniu Gold Mine was more complicated than expected and wouldn’t be resolved in a day or two; it might require a stay of ten days to half a month.
Upon returning to the dormitory building, they heard a noise coming from the kitchen as if soone was cooking.
Qin Feng pushed open the door and saw Wang Fugui.
"You didn’t leave with the miners?" Qin Feng asked, sowhat surprised.
"The Pei Family likes to use gu to harm people, and I was afraid sothing would happen to the miners, so I requested Mr. Xue to let them leave first.
I’m the general manager, and now that Qiuniu Gold Mine is in trouble, how could I just run away? If I were to flee, it would be utterly disgraceful," Wang Fugui said.
"Aren’t you afraid that the Pei Family will use gu to harm you?"
"With President Qin here, I’m not afraid. You can break the gu. Even if I’m cursed by the Pei Family, at worst, I’ll just suffer a little—I won’t die."
"If I stay here, not to ntion other things, I can at least take care of three als a day for you. My cooking skills are not top-notch, but they’re decent enough."
Qin Feng placed two chickens on the ground and said with a smile, "The old hen for stewing soup is all yours. As for this rooster, you slaughter it and I’ll make Beggar’s Chicken for us to enjoy."
Wang Fugui picked up one of the chickens from the ground, looked at it with suspicion, and asked, "Did you buy these chickens from Luo Qiujue?"
"Yes!"
"Dealing with that woman is no easy task. Her chickens taste extrely good, but she rarely sells to outsiders. Before Mr. Xue acquired the Qiuniu Gold Mine, I was already the general manager here.
"Don’t laugh at , bosses, but in over a decade in Qiuniu Village, I’ve only managed to buy her chicken once.
"That was when my wife was in her postpartum period. I pleaded and begged, and only then did she sell one. It wasn’t cheap either, she charged five hundred yuan for it—enough to buy five free-range chickens outside.
"However, although the price was five tis that of a regular free-range chicken, her chicken was indeed succulent to the utmost!
"I felt that the five hundred yuan was worth it. Sadly, when I went back to her later, no matter what I said, she refused to sell to again."
Having said this, Wang Fugui’s face was brimming with curiosity as he asked, "President Qin, how much did you spend for these two chickens?"
"Not a di. I just helped Luo Qiujue with a leg condition she had."
"Oh." Wang Fugui nodded and said, "Both Presidents, why don’t you go outside and watch TV for a while? Don’t stay in the kitchen; it’s full of greasy fus.
"Plus, I bought a lot of groceries today. The chicken is alive; why not feed it until tomorrow before killing it?"
"Sure!"
Qin Feng nodded, then went out with Xue Xiaochan, leaving the kitchen to Wang Fugui.
Soon enough, Wang Fugui had finished cooking the al.
Four dishes and a soup: squirrel-shaped mandarin fish, twice-cooked pork, mapo tofu, stir-fried baby bok choy, and a tomato and egg soup.
Each dish was a feast for both the eyes and palate.
After tasting each one, Qin Feng gave a thumbs up and exclaid, "Old Wang, your cooking skills are on par with those of a big restaurant chef!"
"President Qin, you flatter too much. These are just so ordinary ho-cooked dishes, nothing fancy compared to the chefs in restaurants. I just hope it’s satisfactory for you and President Xue."
Wang Fugui took out a jug and poured two glasses.
"President Qin, let’s have a drink. This was sourced from Old Zheng in town. Even though his Zheng’s liquor can’t compare to Maotai or Wuliangye, it’s definitely a specialty of Anlong Town."
Seeing Xue Xiaochan without a drink, Wang Fugui hastily fetched a chilled peanut milk from the refrigerator.
He opened it, inserted a straw, and handed it to Xue Xiaochan.
"President Xue, have this. It’s also produced in Anlong Town and tastes pretty good."
Wang Fugui’s tactful gesture amused Qin Feng.
He asked with a laugh, "Old Wang, you didn’t prepare this al just to promote this Zheng’s liquor and peanut milk, did you?"
"President Qin, President Xue, I’ve lived in Anlong Town for over a decade and have grown fond of this place.
If it weren’t for the Pei Family, I would have brought my wife and children over to settle down in Anlong Town long ago.
Anlong Town is blessed with a beautiful environnt. Whether it’s the grains, peanuts, or the dairy milk produced from their cows, everything is pure and unpolluted.
This Zheng’s liquor and peanut milk, their raw materials are agricultural products from Anlong Town.
If we can increase production and sell them, it would create additional inco for the locals of Anlong Town."
